If he was on the phone it would be because he was the only person in the shop at the time and trying to do several things at once. He very helpfully will deliver pet food to your home in the evening and works extremely hard. It is not a very well-lit shop, admittedly, but he has a huge range of stock. I think it is really important to support small local businesses and I have had nothing but positive experiences here over many years.

I tried to go round one side of the shop and there was not enough room for the pushchair so I had to go back round the other way. I always remember there being a lot of animals in there despite the shop being small but today there was only fish and some small animals , all of the bird cages were empty.
