i've been here at least 4 times as of yesterday and they definitely know what they're doing. i got my 2nd magic done yesterday. my magic lasted about 8,9 months and i desperately needed it done again as my hair was beginning to look poofy. i love it. i get my hair done from ms.Kyung. there are two korean ladies, one is Mrs.Oh (whom I believe is the owner, tends to work with older Korean ladies like my mom and my aunt -- hair cut and perm), and Ms.Kyung who tends to specialize younger ladies (ahem) and non asian hair. She was telling me yesterday about few other clients, and their damaged hairs. She's worked with all sorts of types of hair which was a surprise to me, because Korean salons well... they typically only know how to work with Korean hair... She said a lot of Jewish and middle eastern ladies are coming in for magic, and a lot of customers are getting brazilian blow out for really damaged hair. the salon is nothing really fancy with the most upscale machines, but they do spend a lot of money on getting the best chemicals and their experience speaks for itself. if I had to rank all of my magic hair outcome... 1. Korea's Jenny House (located in Chongdam dong) Approx $600. 2. J Hair Studio Approx $120-$200 pending on hair length type etc. 3. Atlanta's LeeGaja hair Approx $300 4. San Jose Ca (forgot salon name) Approx $300. In comparison to Jenny House, it's really no match... but come on... $600 + tip is ridiculous amount of money to spend on hair (trust me. my cousin paid for my hair that day), and J hair studio was still much much less than LeeGaja and they're really good. I promised Ms.Kyung that I'll post pictures of my hair, but I am actually going to wait til tomorrow to wash it and let it air dry. read more

UPDATE** I should've posted this a while ago.. I would NEVER go here again!!! One of the stylists should have her license revoked by the state board! She suggested I do a straightening treatment WITH chemicals ONE week after getting color done.. (Yes, color, more chemicals)!!! She completely FRIED my hair from root to end!!! I've been trying to get my hair back to a healthy state for almost a year now!!! This happened Jan., 2014 and it's still a mess 10 months later!!! I'm disgusted and what was even worse was when I told her what she did, no response! Not even an apology! UNREAL that this woman can do hair!! Can't believe I paid $140 to have my hair RUINED!! A friend told me about J Hair Studio when I asked where her little girls got their hair cut. They all had a long-layered cut that I had been searching for. My friend said Janet was really good and knew what she was doing. I scheduled my first appointment with her and have gone back 3 or 4 times since then. I have long, thick, color-treated hair that gets frizzy very easily. Janet has the skills I am always looking for in a stylist to thin the bulk out of my hair without chopping off the length. She will tell me sometimes that the ends are dead and I need to moisturize more, but if I really stress that I don't want to take off any length, she won't. She also does an excellent job of blending in layers and bangs that I'm trying to grow out. I would recommend her to anyone who has long hair kind of like mine. I've never had a short hair cut with her, but she has shorter hair that always looks nice so I assume she cuts her own hair. She also dyed my hair once and I really enjoyed the results. They use a brand of dye that is supposed to be really good for your hair but I can't remember the name. The reason I didn't continue to get my hair dyed here is because the color services are a little more expensive, though I can't remember the cost right now. Hair cuts are $25 and worth every penny. There have been times when she hasn't charged me for a style or extra length so I made sure to leave a big tip. Very good hair salon! read more

She gave a great consultation and made sure I got exactly what I asked for. She took her time, layering the layers that frame my face, comparing the ends to make sure they were even, and she was very personable. Worst place I have ever gone to, Went to get some highlights, left wanting to cry of how horrible my hair looks. This lady does not know what she is doing, she bleached my hair and was all done with when i told her i needed color in my hair she pretended to have put color in my hair using a product that only take away the redness from the bleach but it's not COLOR. don't ever go to this place if you dont want to be ripped off like i just was.
