History

Established in 1967.

Initially started professionally creating photographs for the Lansing State Journal "Teen Page" and the Williamston Enterprise. After high school earned a Bachelor's Degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Professional Photography with a minor in Business. Two (2) years in the United States Army with an MOS of Motion Picture Director. Continued commercial photography in New York until 1986. Returned to Lansing, Michigan in 1986 and have developed an internationally known commercial photography services for companies all over the world.

Small has been providing professional photography for the past 50 years. J.D. Small Studios specializes in on-location photography of architecture, interiors, exteriors and people. Our 24x30 foot studio is fully equipped to provide you with premium quality photography for all of your in-studio needs offering digital and film - 35 mm, and 4x5 formats Based in Lansing, Michigan, most of our work is in the Mid-West. We travel throughout Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, but have also expanded into Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and California, producing high-quality, dynamic photographs. By combining state-of-the-art technology and years of experience, J.D. Small Studios is confident they can provide you with the quality of photography you expect.
