If you ever travel to the Philippines and are a donut lover, you gotta try these. Their texture is different than your typical donut here in the US. The bread is light and airy and doesn't taste too oily. I feel like they put a bit more sugar in their yeast dough so the bread by itself is yummy.
I've been traveling back and forth to the Philippines the last several years to visit my parents. Each time, this is one of the places I have to hit...
Their donuts are yummy. The donut names have a fun twist to common Hollywood names. For example: Alcapone, Jacky Chunk, Avocado DiCaprio, Berry Spears, Blue Barrymore, Snow Ice, etc. I've tried all/most of them, but I forget all of them now.
I'll list my favorites:
Alcapone: It's a donut dipped in white chocolate and toasted almonds. Not too sweet and the toasted almonds give it a good balance. (4.5 stars)
Caviar Chocolate: It's a donut dipped in hazelnut chocolate topped with chocolate crispies. The chocolate crispies are a fun texture. It's like biting into a donut Crunch bar.
Caviar Strawberry: Same as Caviar Chocolate, except it's dipped in a strawberry white chocolate glaze. Yummers for the strawberry flavor lovers. The chocolate pairing makes it yummy yummy to the tummy!
Mr Green Tea: Donut dipped in green tea chocolate with toasted almonds. If you like green tea, you'll like this one!
I like getting the J. Pops because it's like bite size pieces. This is great if you want to sample different flavors without committing to all the calories. But damn...it's so dang hot in the Philippines and you'll probably do a lot of walking anyway, so "donut" let it bother you! #parumpum
So try it, then message me to let me know how you like it.
