For some reason this was a 4 hr process as staff there had computer issues and spotty internet. As I left the store and the sales associate was packing everything up, he broke one of the accessories - a calendar pusher - and told me he'd get me another. We also agreed that he'd help me source an OEM strap at cost price. When I returned home and examined the watch again I discovered that the serial number on the watch didn't match the accompanying paperwork - a major issue for any collector. I immediately contacted my associate and was told the following day that they would make it right by sourcing a replacement full set. A week later I asked for an update and they reneged, stating they couldn't find another full set for the same price. Long story short, 5-6 months later they attempted to make it right by sourcing a damaged Patek from service and offering what felt like a lowball price on one of my watches for trade in. He told me "We've got to make money". I got the feeling that my sales associate was managing this whole process on his own, so I contacted management just to let them know what had happened. I was told that senior management would follow up with me. That was 3 weeks ago and I haven't been contacted since. Seems like they either didn't follow through again or they just don't care.

I had a thin, gold-plated necklace with beads that had broken when it was taken off of the card that held it. The repair that was needed would most likely involve some form of soldering the two pieces together, and I had an amount in mind that I would be wiling to pay given that this is more of a "fun" piece and not fine jewelry. When I walked into New York Jewelers, I was promptly greeted and shown upstairs, to the repair area. The woman behind the counter took the necklace and consulted with a gentleman in the back. I had errands nearby to run, but decided to stick around to get an estimate of time and cost. Initially, I was told this could not be done, but it turned out that the two pieces were somehow able to be soldered together. The cherry on top of this experience is that all of this was done at no charge! The woman who helped me said that after the fusing procedure, a slight bump could be seen between the gold plated portion and a bead. What she was pointing out was imperceptible to my eye. I was so pleased with the level of service, speed, and professionalism that I will be back here to get a battery put in my watch and for any other repairs when the time comes.
