I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon because they were holding a raffle for a pair of hard-to-find…read moresneakers. While in the parking lot the guy working inside was actually walking to his car and greeted me. It was only when he came back in that I realized he worked at Skate Supply, but he was super-nice nonetheless. He asked me if I was there for the raffle (he obviously made an educated guess since I've never been there before) and he took my contact info. He asked if I was interested in buying a t-shirt they were selling to promote the shoe's release and, because he was so cool about it, I said, "Yes," and pre-ordered. I think I got a second raffle entry by buying the shirt, but it looked cool, was a reasonable price and I'd be supporting a local shop. We also talked about the shoe in question (Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk Low "Cactus Jack") and joked a bit about its release policy. It's not a big as Carnival but it has this laid back, relaxed vibe that I always remembered about skate shops. If you don't know what I'm talking about then check out the movie mid90's. There were two guys working and they overheard me and asked what board size etc. He put in an order for the board I was looking for we paid there and they took down my info so I can pick it up when it's ready. They said it should have been there by Tuesday but I hadn't heard anything so I FB msgd them and they got back To me said they'd contact me as soon as it comes. Well they contacted me again to apologize for not not being here on time and offered to get a different board in place of it until it arrives so my son would at least have something and we could just swap out when his actual Deck came in. Long review short I'm still waiting but the fact they took time out to msg me and ask if I wanted a replacement for the time being was awesome customer service. Can't wait to get my sons deck.

I've been hearing about this company that makes unique bags out of recycled materials. What's so…read moregreat about this? Well, these bags are created using recycled plastic water bottles, pineapple leaf fiber and billboard vinyl. And what's so awesome about that is that it's from our very own city Norfolk that those recycled items are from! These bags range from travel bags, backpacks, crossbody bags, wallets, and other accessories. They also have clothing now. No two bags are the same. My daughter and I came to this store inside MacArthur on a Saturday afternoon. They had so many types and designs of their bags we were at a loss for words. Their new line of crossbody earth bags come in different colors. I fell in love with the mustard colored bag (so did my daughter) we both bought the same one! The billboards and plastic water bottles they recycle to make these gorgeous bags are from our local area! What other reason do you need to buy these bags? Go online and check them out! There's a bag for everyone; regardless of what you're into.

There were several Sunstation stores on Atlantic Ave, but this one seemed to be the largest one of…read morethem all. I went to this one since it was right across our hotel. It was stunned to see how big it was inside, probably the biggest beach side gift shop I had ever walked in. Around the entrance of the store they had the drinks, beer, candies, and grocery items, and rest of the store was just full of different items like apparels, dolls, magnets, picture frames, beach items and so much more. They also had fitting rooms too. We had a fun time shopping at the store. We picked a mermaid doll, a magnet, a t-shirt and a photo frame. Compared to others stores in the area, their prices were excellent. They also had so many different deals on different items. There were promos for free mugs (spending over $30) or free souvenir tote bag (spending over $50). We got the free tote bag which was really good quality and came handy for going to beach next day. The staff members were friendly and helpful at the store. The checkout process was quick too. I highly recommend them for any gift or souvenir shopping in Virginia Beach.

I will say that J&A Racing has it going on, and the org definitely knows how to organize a great…read morerace weekend. From registering for the Shamrock Half, to the expo, the race itself, and the post-race after party, I thought everything was amazing. The Expo (Va Beach Convention Ctr): I picked up my bib on the 1st day, so it was somewhat crowded; however, things moved pretty smoothly. While I did not stick around to enjoy the festivities, there were plenty of vendors and things to do with the family to get the full expo experience. Like most expos, there were plenty of things to buy, but I did not get a sense that I was going to be harrassed to buy anything. Race day: This is a great race because the course is pretty flat. While most of it is a bit in and out for the half marathon, there are plenty of fun sights to see while running. The fluids stations were fully stocked, and there were not any major bottle necks at the start line and during the course. If I could make one change to the course, I wanted to spend more time running on the boardwalk. Other than that small complaint, everything was great. Post-race celebration: Here is where the real party was located. I was 100% pleasantly surprised that J&A Racing hosted the post-race party INSIDE of a huge pavilion tent because the temps were in the mid to high 30s. Swag: You definitely will get a lot of cool stuff with your registration fee. Pre- and post-race swag included a long-sleeve tech shirt, beach towel, cap, four beer tickets, a cup of a Irish stew (technically, soup), bag, and a bunch of snacks. *I feel like I'm missing something.* A couple of tips: -Be very careful with parking. Some of the tow truck companies were very predatory and towing cars left and right. -Arrive early to find well-priced parking. A few places were charging $35+ for day parking. This was disgusting because I'm sure they jacked up their prices because it was marathon weekend, which occurs during the off season. Fortunately for me, the parking garage at 25th St charged only $10 for 24 hr parking.

I've done all of the Shamrock Races, but the half is always my favorite. Well except in 2017. If you know you know... that race was BRUTAL! It's a flat and fast course. The scenery changes every few miles which is so great mentally and I've pushed myself to multiple PRs year after year. The crowd always comes out in force to cheer you on too. Everything is so well organized from packet pick up at the amazing Shamrock Weekend expo - full of vendors and world-class speakers to the finish line. I hope you're ready for a party- the Shamrock Weekend races have one of the best after parties in the business. It's a true celebration. I look forward to returning to Virginia Beach to run this one again and again!

Lots of handcrafted products including planters, bird feeders, birdhouses, and even bat houses. They've got bird feed, books and many other unique items. Whenever we're at the Farmers Market my daughters insist on visiting this store because of their very large selection of Webkinz products. Very helpful and friendly owners. They have some cute gift items and make custom fake floral arrangements. One of the things pointed out to me was that you can bring in your own vases or cases and they will build something for you based on your colors and request. Additionally, they sell these pretty fake magnolia wreaths and can update/change them for the seasons. What a cute idea! I saw tons of pretty things inside including seasonal gift/decor, candles, soaps, lotion, and Lampe Berger which are fancy Parisian room diffusers. Nice! With loads and loads of scents to personalize and cleanse your space. I'm def. coming back from one of these! The friendly lady inside, names Leslie, was a pleasure to chat with and took my name for when more of their Parisian lamps come in stock! Def. a great place to browse if you are looking for a gift, I found my husband a gorgeous decanter for Valentine's Day that he loves! I came back a few weeks after my first visit when the Berger lamps came back in stock and purchased one and we love it! Absolutely a great gift idea and so unique. A different lady helped me this time and she was just as nice as Leslie. Welcoming and super warm and provided me with all the instructions I needed for using my lamp the first time.
