I have gotten cedar from these guys several times, and each time they did exactly what they said they would do. They're prices are competitive, they are very friendly and helpful. They are just as professional if I bought one post or several. They know their product, and they do an excellent job when you need the post cleaned (stripped of the bark). My contractor was a dud, so I had to buy my own posts to install at my house. I don't know jack about buying cedar posts. John of J-6 Cedar was helpful in getting me the right ones and teaching me a thing or two about the tools to use for what I needed. We bought several posts from him and they look beautiful. The people that own and operate this businesses are confrontational and don't seem like they are interested in selling their product. I have been buying cedar posts from them for a little over a year now for a non-profit that works with kids and up until recent I dealt with a man, who was not very helpful, but agreeable. My last visit I called ahead and spoke to a man and told him that I would be there around 3:00 and I told him what I wanted and he said that would be fine. A friend and I arrived right before 3:00 and no one was there. We called the number again and no one answered. A man drove up who also wanted to do business with these people and I visited with him for a bit. He got frustrated waiting and left. A car then drove up and a women asked if we had been helped. We said no and she got on her phone and started yelling at someone over the phone asking them to - tell her mother to get off the phone! I told her that we knew what we wanted and that we would start loading it because we were in a hurry and she said that was Ok. After a few more minutes of her yelling at someone on the phone she drove off and left my friend and me loading the cedar. Then another car drove up and a very angry woman walked briskly out of the car right up to me. I smiled at her and said, "Hi" and "Gosh I wish I had worn some gloves". She launched into a tirade and wanted to know who I thought I was loading her cedar and from what pile I got them from. She then started accusing me of trying to sneak bigger pieces into my truck that cost more. I told her that we had gotten all of the cedar from two stacks and that we had bought from this location several times in the past and that we are buying it for a school and that we want small sticks and can't use the larger ones. She then accused me of taking them from a particular empty metal rack. I told her that rack was empty when we arrived. She then demanded that we take the cedar out of the truck and I told her that she could easily see for herself that they were almost all the same size and we just want to buy it. She then told me that I shouldn't have loaded the cedar myself and that I should have called her. I told her we had called the number on the sign and we had spoken to a person earlier over the phone and told them we were going to be here at 3. We also told her that we spoke to a women in person who I assumed was her doughter. She then asked me how I was going to pay and I said by credit card, like I have always done, and she said that she only took checks and cash. She then repeated that I should have called and I said, "I did call your damn phone" and then she said you can't cuss at me and told me to empty her cedar out of my truck or she would call the cops. I asked her why she was getting so upset and she said, "Because you are cussing at me and saying damn and shit!" I told her that we just want to buy the cedar and I asked her how much. She gave me a figure and told me to drive to an ATM. I got in the car and drove in the direction she indicated, leaving my friend, and did not find an ATM. I returned and told her we would not take the cedar. I told my friend that we would nicely stack the cedar where we found it. I said it loud enough for the lady to hear. She angrily walked over and told us to, "Put it on the ground." I said ok and we did exactly that. These people are mean spirited and do not deserve your business. They are unreliable and are more interested in fighting then doing business. I would avoid them at all cost. read more

I have been buying cedar post from j-6 for at least 3 years, I have never ran into a problem with them like "they were mean" spirited people".
