Absolutely delicious food for absolutely amazing prices. Izgara is that hidden gem in the rough of the south Florida restaurant scene. A very unassuming restaurant in a small shopping plaza where the falafels are fresh and delicate and the hummus is world class. The service was a little understaffed so there were a lot of tables but not enough people to keep track of everything. But the kitchen was still able to bring out the food within 20 minutes of sitting down. The only part of the food that could have been better were the fries that were a bit soggy and the pita that was store bought but besides that everything else was phenomenal.
I might have just picked the worst item on the menu. Everyone in my party seemed to enjoy their lunches. I got a chicken (dark meat) stir fried with onion and bell pepper. Too much onion, not enough chicken. The sweet potato fries were both overcooked and soggy. I enjoyed the hummus, but too much of it, the portions were just off.
I really felt transported to the Mediterranean when I stepped inside this restaurant. The ambiance was calm and wonderful. There were authentic decorative artwork on the walls. Their dishware was also beautiful. The menu has something for meat eaters and non meat eaters. The staff was very friendly especially the woman behind the counter. My daughter and I dined here for our weekly lunch outing. This was a first time for both of us coming here. We had a great meal and would definitely come back. We chose to share two sampler plates. The Hummus Mix which was 4 bowls with 3 Falafels, Israeli Salad, Hummus, and Baba Ganoush. We also shares the Pita Sandwich trio which included 3 half pita filled with Chicken, Falafel, and Beef Kabob. The beef kabob pita was our favorite and we loved the babaganoush. Overall everything was so tasty and it was a very nice meal. I will definitely return again.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant and the design is beautiful and inviting. The cocktail bar and Israeli wines are amazing. We received excellent service and it is noticeable that the food is made with love. Chef Jamie knows how to take Mediterranean cuisine to the next level. Highly recommend! We will definitely be back again and again.
Superb, had a chicken Cesar to start then the lamb kabobs entree, babaganoush... chefs kiss Had their tea service while I waited, everything was quality, everything was cooked fresh. Handmade and delicious, I've been here before and will be back. It's dark and sexy inside, I came in for lunch but would be back for dinner or a quick bite. They also have great wine selection.
The food is beyond good. Fabulous fantastic and filled with flavor. I have never been disappointed in this place. The complementary hot drink after the best hummus ever made is the cherry on top. Best of the best.
Went to Izgara for a nice father/daughter Valentine's Day lunch on Thursday. I have not dined here in a while but I am glad to say that the food is as delicious as I remember. Our server was very polite. One of my favorite things about this restaurant is that it is quiet and quaint. The food is prepared with a lot of love and the ingredients and including the spices taste fresh. I ordered the hot mint tea (sweetened) it had the perfect amount of sugar. I also had a side salad that had a fresh lemon flavored dressing, cheese and tomatoes. For my main course I had the chicken shawarma and vegetables. Another thing that is great about this restaurant is that the food makes you full without feeling overstuffed. It's a great place if you are looking to eat something light and healthy that is also flavorful for lunch or dinner.

I have had Izgara on my list for a while but to be honest the little plaza it is in gives me stress getting in and out. However I kept seeing such positive reviews on Facebook that I had to suck it up and give them a try. My husband and I shared a lentil soup. It was so good. The best thing about Mediterranean restaurants is that depending on what region they are from, the food is different and this lentil soup was delicious! I had the grilled salmon salad. It was HUGE! The salad was basically Israeli salad, feta and lettuce. I could have done within the potato sticks...in house they were a nice crunch, but I took home the leftovers and they did get a little soggy...while the rest of the salad was still amazing 2 days later. The salmon was perfectly cooked. I feel the onions need like 12 stars! I could have eaten a whole bowl of that alone. Everything was so tasty. My husband had the lamb platter with sweet potato fries. He said it was very good. The dish comes with hummus and he hates it so he asked for it on a separate dish. Lucky for me! I love hummus and it was delicious. We had baklava for dessert. It was a free dessert with Yelp check in. I wish I could have said I loved it but I didn't. It was the only part of the meal that was underwhelming. It was dry and just...not great. Trust me, this one thing won't stop me from returning. The meal was very good. Soda is served in a can. It's definitely a downer. It also won't keep me from returning. Izgara is nestled in the Turtle Run shopping center and a quaint little restaurant. For only having one person working, they were super efficient even as more and more people came into the restaurant. We started with the falafel which was amazing. Tiny bits of jalapeño really elevated them. The chicken shawarma sandwich was also really good though the integrity of the pita was quickly compromised and it ended up being more of a fork meal than I expected. The chicken was still really tender and the sauces, especially their tahini, was great!

The restaurant itself is so quaint and welcoming, and the staff is super friendly. My go-to meal is their falafel platter. So good!!! What a nice little hidden spot. The place has a nice lighting ambiance and a very calm feel to it. Everything was clean too. Servers were great, very attentive and came to check on us a couple of times. I found the food to be delicious. It was a lot but we ended up eating all of it basically. In the end, they gave us complimentary mint tea which was a great way to finish everything off. read more

Consistently delicious, authentic, and great prices for the amount of food you get. I always get it take out and the food is always super fresh and so so good! I have even put special requests in the comments for my takeout food before and they accommodate-- which is hard to come by now a days.. love this place! read more

What I enjoyed most about this place was the atmosphere - the decor, the music, the plates. But of course we have to talk about the food, right?! I had a falafel combination plate, which came with 6 delicious falafel, a hefty serving of creamy hummus, Israeli salad, and fries (you can choose rice, fries or sweet potato fries) as well as a whole pita. The hummus was yummy, but I found that it could have used a little more lemon and garlic. The salad was delicious too. My father had a goat kebab combination plate - which he found the lamb too spicy for his palate. To close the meal we ordered two pieces of baklava, which was not very good unfortunately. We both left full with leftovers, which I look forward to enjoying for lunch tomorrow. read more

There was only one server and about 10 tables, but lunch still moved very swiftly. The food came out quick and super fresh! Appetizers of falafel, Salad, hummus and eggplant dip - super! The trio wrap is a bit much as it's stuffed with soggy fries. The chicken shawarma is flavorfully marinated and overall a satisfying meal. read more

Izgara is a "Mediterranean" restaurant with a Turkish name (the signage used to say Middle Eastern, but this has been recently and obviously altered) located in Plantation. It happens to serve Israeli food based on menu descriptions, but it is not Kosher. Confusing, yes. We visited the place on a Friday night and were impressed by its beautiful interior and cafe-like ambiance. The menu had all the typical dishes you would expect to find in an Israeli restaurant, but unfortunately, the preparations were not up to the mark. We ordered a mezze plate sampler, including hummus, baba ghanoush, Israeli salad, and falafel. The hummus and baba ghanoush were extremely pureed and creamy, and both were topped with a large amount of Tahini sauce, which made them taste almost identical. On the other hand, the falafel was good, with a softer consistency and nicely fried crispy on the outside. Rachel ordered the Sabich sandwich, a legendary Iraqi Jewish sandwich known for using a pickled mango condiment called amba. Izgara's version of the sandwich is missing the amba. This is a major oversight on their part, especially since the restaurant doesn't even keep the ingredient. The sandwich, which was invented by Mizrahi Jews in Tel Aviv in the early 1940s, is typically made with fried eggplant slices, amba, hard-boiled eggs cooked in "hamin" broth, tahini, and Israeli salad, along with boiled potatoes or french fries. This used a chunky sauteed eggplant; it wasn't fried brown or fried breaded/flour dusted (that some modern places do) as you typically see with this sandwich, so I don't think it had the correct texture. My dish was the beef kebab, also known as Kafta, Kofta, or Kefta Kabab. The waiter warned me that it was going to be spicy. He should have warned me that it would be mushy, a texture that you do not typically find in ground meat kebabs. The chef heavily processed it with a lot of raw vegetables, and it had a very unpleasant and soft consistency. We prompted them several times to remove it from the table, and they eventually took it off the bill. The beef kebabs also came with a rather odd salad, which consisted strictly of lettuce and shredded mozzarella cheese with a tahini lemon dressing. This was not bad, but it was strange that it was served at an Israeli restaurant along with meat dishes. I wanted to like the place, but I don't think we'll return to the restaurant. I highly recommend this spot if you want great, authentic Mediterranean cuisine. The hummus is so delicious and creamy. The warm, fresh pita, so fluffy and so flavorful. I think out of everything I have tried, the falafel is my favorite. It has a great, crispy texture and is just so flavorful. If you get the platter, it also comes with either fries or rice; I'd recommend getting the fries! The prices are very reasonable. You get a very large portion for the price you pay. I always have leftovers when I order the platters. You can choose to dine in or take out, even available for delivery on the apps. Definitely don't pass up on the opportunity to try this gem of a place! read more
I don't know how many times we've driven past this restaurant or looked at it on Yelp. Today was the lucky day. We are finally going to have lunch there. What a great place. We love Middle Eastern food. It's always different from one place to the next. My wife and I shared a bowl of lentil soup. It was superb! We absolutely loved it. My wife decided to have a salad with grilled salmon. First, it was huge! She really enjoyed it. She could not finish it, so she took it home and we had it with dinner the next night. I have to say it was very good. Now, for me, I had the grilled lamb platter. It was grilled lamb, Israeli salad, sweet potato fries, pita bread, and hummus. Since I don't care for hummus, I got it on the side. My wife wanted it and she said it was fantastic. I loved what I had. The only thing I wish they had was a green vegetable instead of potato of rice. Even though I don't like it when a restaurant serves a can soda, it sure isn't going to stop us from eating here again. read more

We started with baba ghanoush. It was creamier than most, but had the correct flavor, and was a generous portion. My wife had chicken thighs over onions and stir fried vegetables along with a healthy Israeli salad. I had the ground lamb kabob with with similar sides. Each of these dishes came with a side salad that surprised me. I might have chosen something other than Israeli side salads if I knew that the dish came with salads. Oh well. We enjoyed everything. read more
