Then I received another statement with a break down of what I owed a few weeks later. This place told me they took my insurance and I had asked what the price was if my insurance didn't pay ahead of time. When the bill came out, it cost more to use my insurance because of the way Professional Physical Therapy bills insurance. I found this absurd and has called their billing department only to get the run around with 3 different representatives and finally find out that I was responsible for the insurance amount even though it cost more than if I didn't have insurance. The person who wrote on their Google review to make sure you get all prices in writing before you start is right. It shouldn't cost more to have insurance, but it did. I had also asked my therapist multiple times about where to buy the tools he had at home so I could do therapy at home when I couldn't make it into the office and he had said some of the tools, including one I was looking at was a little expensive, saying one tool was $35.' Well it cost way more to do the therapy in person, which I guess was the goal of the company.

I had some concerns in the beginning because I had brought in MRI images to him and he did not deem it necessary to review the MRI before he started a treatment plan. I did not follow my instincts and proceeded to get Cortizone shots in my back to relieve the pain. The Cortizone shots did not last long and I am still in pain. I received an automated appointment confirmation the day before my follow-up appointment. I came in after three weeks of the initial visit to let him know I was still in pain, only to find out He is on vacation. The young lady at the front Desk look but surprised and said "oh no one called you"., I reply no, but I had a computer asked me to confirm my appointment. Don't put your trust in a place that will do a procedure without looking at images and not be there when you need them or have a decency to call you to let you know That they won't be there to help you. Researching doctors is very important.

I started receiving bad neck pain a couple of months ago. After seeing an orthopedic doctor, he…read moreprescribed me to go to physical therapy three times a week for 6 weeks. I chose this location as it was the closest to my house. Each session lasts for about an hour, after being evaluated by the head therapist she showed me the workouts I was going to be doing and then she massaged my neck. The massage felt great and I got the feeling that this woman really knew what she was doing. My neck immediately felt better after my first session. The reason why I cannot give this place more than three stars is because some of the workers lack the experience or are just plain lazy. On my second session I was assigned a therapist, he would be helping me with my workouts before the massage. It was clear to me that this guy did not know what was going on. He seemed lost when I asked him questions about the workouts and for half of the workouts he had to ask a manager what the workout was. So after about 3 or 4 sessions I memorized all my workouts and I began doing my workouts with no help needed. This was much better for me as I didn't have to rely on someone who did not know what was going on. After every workout I am assigned a massage therapist. This is my favorite part of the session as I feel the massage truly helps my neck. I had about five different people in my whole physical therapy experience massaging me. I liked all the massage therapists except for one. The therapist that I did not like seemed to always rush me out, Didn't really give a good massage (it was weak/lazy) and actually lied to me on one occasion. I give this place three stars because they actually do help with my neck and it no longer is an uncontrollable throb, I just think that some of the workers here are not as good as others and seem to be lazy.

We returned to Dr. Hale after my mother underwent a second back surgery that left her in severe…read morepain and struggling to walk. Because he had done her original fusion and had such a strong reputation, we trusted him to give us an honest assessment. I brought her most recent CT and MRI scans, along with lab results showing a GFR of 17--the morning of that second surgery--indicating she was not an appropriate surgical candidate at the time. I also presented the report showing that a Coflex device had been used directly above a prior fusion, something that multiple sources list as contraindicated. Dr. Hale spent only a few minutes with her, glanced at the scans, and said everything looked fine. He offered no comment on the labs or the contraindicated device and simply recommended outpatient therapy. After her condition rapidly declined, we sought a second opinion from a top spinal surgeon at HSS, who reviewed the same imaging and said she was in urgent need of surgical intervention at that time. Unfortunately, by then it was too late. My mother is now wheelchair-bound, on dialysis three times a week, and unlikely to survive more than six months. She will live out what time she has left in pain--and in torment--knowing that those she once trusted to protect her instead looked the other way. From where I sit, it seems doctors protect their own, even when a patient's life is on the line.

This actually happened at the facility in Chester but I was told all the Kesslers use the same…read morepolicies and I can't find a way to review the Chester location. WARNING if you use Kessler for in-patient rehab for yourself or a loved one (or any rehab, as this could occur elsewhere). If the patient has joint surgery, especially hip or knee, or is otherwise at high risk of pulmonary embolism and should be wearing IPC devices (alternating pressure cuffs) PLEASE CHECK with Kessler, before agreeing to discharge there from the hospital, that they will put the cuffs on within a few hours. They accepted my family member from Morristown Medical Center, where she had the cuffs on, and their own doctor ordered that she should continue wearing them to prevent PE. But unbenownst to me, Kessler has a policy of doing a doppler before putting the cuffs on-- even if they've already been on continuously at the hosptial-- and they admitted her when they would not have technician available. They left my family member laying immobile for 15 hours without the devices and she died of presumed PE before they ever got around to it. I wrote them and asked them to change their policy to either put the cuffs on patients without doing a doppler like the hospital does or to delay admission until they have doppler technicians available-- i.e. to stop taking patients who need the cuffs and leaving them without the cuffs for longer than recommended. The president of Kessler called me today to say they'll look into it but "I'm not going to tell you if we change our policies." I have no idea if they're going to change anything. IPC cuffs can significantly reduce PE risk for immobile patients in the days after surgery. So please, DO NOT go to Kessler after a joint procedure without confirming they'll use them if the doctor says the patient should wear them. In fact, confirm IPC device use with any rehab prior to discharge if the hospital is using them and the patient is still in the high risk period. Kessler Foundation also sent a donation request addressed to my dead family member weeks after she died there and weeks after I'd written the complaint asking them to change their procedures. Addressed to the patient who died there. Asking her to send them money. The president did agree this shouldn't happen and said he would try to prevent it from happening to other people. What he did not agree to do was stop accepting patients who need IPC cuffs during times when they have no intention of putting them on.

I cannot tell you how pleasantly surprised I was by the care I received by every single person on my team, from the moment I arrived to the moment I left two weeks later. I can actually envision myself walking better than I have in years, thanks to the PT I received at Kessler. Special thanks to Rob and Emily, whose approach gave me confidence to push myself during daily 3 hour PT and OT sessions. Also, I appreciated the care by Ducky and Helayna, always going the extra mile to see that I was comfortable. I would highly recommend Kessler for post-op care.
