I have not been disappointed. In fact, I went into my facelift surgery with complete confidence in Dr. Ivey's medical knowledge and skill. I am very pleased that I have had the opportunity for him to operate on me. I have to say Dr Ivey is the most down to earth plastic surgeon in Hawaii. I live on Oahu and I had 3 consultations with other surgeon and it was awful. PS down on Oahu have a god complex and when something goes wrong they are very quickly to make it the patient's responsibility. I had a tele health consult with Ivey and he is just different from the other surgeon. Right off the bat he lets you ask all your questions and concerns and does not talk down to you when explaining. I flew from Oahu down to Maui to have a lip lift procedure (I don't like fillers and fillers weren't addressing my issues) and it was a way better experience even with the traveling than staying on island. As I was healing I sent messages asking if this is normal and for advise. Ivey was so kind in responding. It's been 1 year after and the scaring is hardly noticeable. However I do stress that will will have a red scar under your nose for about 4-6 months it get fade lighter and becomes smaller as time goes by and depending on your healing. Just being realistic in the healing results so you don't freak out. He's also one of the best surgeons on island to do face / neck lifts. I've recommended all my friends to go to Ivey if they want good work to get done. I also know that he also did really great correction work from other surgeons. Dr. Ivey is a smart man, and definitely skilled as a board ELIGIBLE plastic surgeon, however, he lacks experience and accountability in his work, having quite the arrogant attitude when questioned on his "professional judgment calls" that end up resulting in pricey errors that damage the self esteem of clients who sought him out only to feel better about themselves. The fact that he is still only board eligible and not actually a board-certified plastic surgeon, one would think he would be more of a humble practitioner, eager to seize opportunities to correct errors and learn from mistakes, but that was not my experience with Dr Ivey. What a blessing for this island to have Dr. Ivey! Not only is he incredibly skilled and talented but truly a genuine and caring person. His office manager Jo, is an amazing woman, who is very knowledgeable, friendly and a joy to work with. The office is new and the technology is incredible! Dr. Ivey is very passionate about keeping up with what is the safest, most effective and comfortable ways to help people. He is a perfectionist when it comes to his work. He is detail oriented, thorough and provides great personal attention! I was diagnosed with a large spot of cancer on my face. My dermatologist had to remove quite a large section of skin and it was then up to Dr. Ivey to fix the huge hole and make me look normal again. I was so nervous! It was even more scary because it was very close to my eye and into my hairline. I could easily have had a screwed up eye or more! Dr. Ivey took his personal time to walk me through the steps and procedures to make sure I was ok and was happy to answer all questions. He explained to me that it most likely would take multiple steps because he would rather do it perfectly and take time, then to leave me messed up. And yes! He did exactly as he said, a perfect job!
