Clay said grace and Joyanne said about everything else. Just a wonderful couple, full of stories and inquisitive about our lives. She wrote a book about there experiences with the local Amish and told stories of how they used to drive them around. This part of Ohio is all gentle rolling hills with plenty of farmland. We were here in the peak fall color viewing time so it was a little slow getting around. I imagine it's always a little slow all year with all the bikes, buggy's, and tourists. Lots to do and see in the area. We were lucky enough to be here during the towns annual garage sale, so we spent some time shopping these. I bet you would be hard pressed to find someone with a bad disposition around here, everyone seemed quite content with there own pace of life they have sit for themselves. If you are lucky enough to book a room here, make sure you tell them I said hello, they are not the type to read things on line.

When you drive to the location, it's easy to locate. You drive past the winery, and go to the end of the hill and you will see a sign that says Carriage house 1 & 2. There is two carriage houses that share a pavilion at the bottom of the back yard. The place is beautiful inside. At the top it has a large living room and kitchen area. They have a restroom on the main level, a porch with seats and a grille on the main floor. Upstairs there is a little nook where seating is available, 2 bedrooms and a master bathroom with a jet tub, and shower. The lower level has a bar, yes a bar, and a center section that allows you to huddle, bathroom, and 2 bedrooms. Outside of the area is a lower porch, which has a hot tub. Warning about the hot tub, when you first get in it, it's 120 degrees. Take the top off and let it cool down. It will cool down a lot and feel much better over time. It's nice to relax with the tub. They have a lower section that has a fire pit and seats available. In the back of the house there is trails which has a broken bridge. We went through the stream to get to the other side. I have a bad knee, but made it through fine. :) If you are seeking Internet usage, this is a bad cabin to get access. There is no Internet at the cabin, that's a good or bad thing. In downtime, we are used to having Internet usage. However it's tough when you want it and can't get it. Verizon is the better service, but I had no access. However some mornings I'd wake up with some notifications that went through some how. If you want Internet, go down the drive way and you can obtain a little access, exit the driveway and walk to the top of the hill and I've picked up a great signal there. If you want better access, go out to the Indian Bear Resort over near the lake, but walk towards the winery but stop in the center and the service is perfect there. I've added a image of where that it's good at. My only ask or recommendation to Indian Bear Resort, maybe offer Internet service. It would be nice and helpful, but I understand being off-line can be a request and need as well. Now the lake area is pretty nice as well. Lots to do up there. You can get on kayaks, small boats etc; It allows you to swim and or boat around. This is nice. The only downside is the days that we went had a large group that would "HOG" all of the boats and would leave with a mess. Overall it was a pleasant stay and nice to get away after all of the COVID quarantine. I highly recommend coming here. Here is an aerial view of the winery from my sons drone: https://youtu.be/Fe5Cwc7Ije0

As we got closer to the trip, and more friends heard about the retreat, a larger group asked to join. The owner was super responsive when I asked to increase the size for the booking and we all ended up having an incredible time. It's the perfect getaway for a summer weekend or any time for that matter. I just wish it was a little closer to Columbus. A few friends wanted to camp down by the lake and the home fit everyone else perfectly with room to spare. The property is amazing. The home is right off the road, but the lake is down a long path, out in the middle of nowhere. We spent the days swimming, grilling out, playing lawn games and eventually hanging out by a fire thanks to the wood that the property manager had left for us down by the lake. There's certain places your mind just functions at 100%. For me, this was one of them. I wrote the entire outline for a movie and began part of the screenplay. Not long after I stayed, my writing partner and I sold the script and it ended up being produced up in Canada. Secluded Lake Lodge was actually a big part of that whole experience -- so thank you again! Can't wait to come back sometime. I'm actually going to reach out to my friends and see if we can find a few days this summer to make it back out.

I rented this house to host my birthday part at, I had looked at it in person beforehand and liked…read moreit because it was the perfect place between nice and shitty where i would like the stay but didn't have to worry too much about having a bunch of drunk people where they could do too much damage. My main complaint was the behavior of the property manager. The rental is specifically secluded, from the title of the house to the words spoken by the owner you would be alone completely, even so that the key is left under the mat when coming and going to avoid interaction with anyone. - and that's not what we got. When we were grilling outside in the front at like 8pm a car drove past the house over and over and over again scaring the crap out of my guests and making me uncomfortable too. Eventually the payroll of the house stopped and we tucked in. Later in the morning around 8 the property manager stopped in front of the barn across the street and walked over and talked to one of my friends. Asking her with a mean demeanor who she was and why we were grilling and what we were doing, making her justify our actions at fucking 8 in the morning after a night of drinking. Not only that but he didn't even talk to me, he talked to my friend who in no way deserved what felt like an 8 am bunk check. He was telling her that he had had bad people rent the house as of late and they did things like burn cans and things?? Even if he did have tenants behave in a way that made it more difficult for him to clean up after them the rules of the house say to drink responsibly and not let pets on the bed.. nothing else. We did not deserve to be bombarded, disrespectfully and not even directly due to the behavior or other renters. The beds were also the worst I've ever encountered, grass on the way back to the lake was unkempt and made walking a nightmare, the house smelled like old people, and the decorations were also very old. The owner also never returned my email about my complaint. All in all had the encounter with the property manager not happened i would have been pleased because i had already seen the house but it ruined my view of the stay and i would never go back.
