First event, Simone Biles, first game, Clippers, first concert Cake. This was our 2nd VIP experience, we had a reserved table at The Pala Starlite Patio to watch the 3rd of July Spectacular. There was live music, specialty cocktails and raffles. One food kiosk was open for Tanner's Burgers and snacks. It provided a wonderful elevated viewing platform. We enjoyed the Oceanside drone and fireworks to celebrate this special year. This was our first drone show. We preferred it and chose to go out this night prior to the 4th fireworks show at our home. The arena feels modern, clean, and well-designed, and honestly, there isn't a bad seat in the house. No matter where you're sitting, you have a great view of the action. One thing people often mention is parking. You can pay for arena parking, which typically ranges from $15-$25 depending on the event, or you can park for free behind some of the nearby businesses and enjoy a short walk. Personally, I think it's a fair trade-off, especially considering everything the arena offers. The food options are surprisingly good for an event venue. The smash burgers are delicious, and the steak nachos are hands-down my favorite. They also offer a good selection of alcoholic beverages for those who want to enjoy a drink while watching a game or concert. What really stands out is the variety of events. From hockey, indoor football, soccer, and basketball to concerts and family entertainment, there's always something happening. The atmosphere is energetic, fun, and welcoming every time we've visited. One of the best things Frontwave Arena does is offer free tickets to many of their sporting events for local families through promotions on their Instagram page. Follow them and keep an eye out! If paying $15-$25 for parking helps support a venue that regularly gives away tickets so families and friends can enjoy games together, I'm more than happy to do it. Frontwave Arena is a great addition to our community, and I highly recommend checking out an event if you haven't already.

We…read moremoved to Oceanside last winter and over this last year we've loved driving by the theatre and have kept saying we need to see a show - so we finally did! We bought tickets for the youth production of Anastasia and dear lord, it was SO FREAKING GOOD. We both cried. The kids were freaking phenomenal! The design, costume, and talent was 10/10! We were so impressed with their passion, cohesive change of set, and from the littlest actors to the seasoned stars - they all absolutely rocked it. The theatre seats were comfy and the temperature was comfortable without needing a jacket. No photos/video are allowed during the production and everyone was respectful and followed the rules, which made for fully immersing in the performance. There were light refreshments available at intermission (chips, candy, waters, beer/wine). We caught the matinee and it finished just in time to catch happy hour at 333. We'll be back again!! If you're thinking about going, do it! The Star is celebrating its 70th this year, so a perfect time to join the fun!

Back in September, I coordinated a group of almost 20 guests to attend "Trouble Man: feat. l Young" on October 4th. On the 1st, I tried to add more guests to our party but the event was no longer listed on their website. On October 2nd, we were provided unfortunate news that our show on October 4th had been cancelled as one of the female vocalists coming from out of town had caught pneumonia, and that sales of that particular show with 3 days to go were extremely low. But Margi was very communicative, and had processed our refunds in a timely manner, and was an absolute pleasure to deal with when I spoke with her to purchase our group tickets. I would patronize OTC again without hesitation, and look forward to seeing a future performance there. Kudos to OTC for amazing box office staff!

I can't speak to the quality of the adult productions, but as the parent of a child actively…read moreinvolved in San Diego community youth theater, I personally would not feel comfortable having my child perform here. I have significant concerns about the judgment and oversight surrounding youth productions, particularly when minors are cast opposite adults as romantic interests. I have also heard troubling accounts from members of the local theater community regarding how some young performers have been treated with little to no respect. Most concerning to me was a recent production that drew significant criticism over what many felt were inappropriate boundaries involving an adult and a minor in the cast. My understanding is that the directors involved were subsequently removed from the production following its closing dates. I was troubled that the circumstances were able to progress as far as they did before action was taken. When a theater works with children, I believe the owners and leadership have an especially important responsibility to know what is happening in productions operating under their name and to establish clear safeguards and boundaries for minors. In my opinion, the oversight in this situation fell far short of what I would expect from an organization entrusted with young performers. I sincerely hope the concerns raised by parents and members of the theater community lead to meaningful changes. Youth theater can be an incredible experience, but the well-being and safety of the children involved has to come before any production.

The lobby is quite comfortable and has a lot of artifacts showing the amazing history of the resort. Will probably take a few visits to go through it all. One last thing. They made an error on their schedule which resulted in me having tickets on two different dates of the same event. Rather than send an email, they personally called me and gave me options that quickly resolved the issue! I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing from start to finish…read more Check-in was advertised for 4:00 p.m., but we didn't get our room until nearly 8:30 p.m., costing us hours of the vacation we paid for. Throughout our stay, we requested basic necessities like fresh towels and soap refills, but they never arrived despite multiple requests. On checkout day, housekeeping walked into our room at 9:00 a.m., a full hour before the 10:00 a.m. checkout, while we were still getting dressed. Our privacy was completely disregarded. I was also repeatedly singled out because of my service dog. Multiple employees yelled, "You better clean up after your dog," even though I was visibly carrying waste bags and had done nothing wrong. It was humiliating and showed a lack of training on how to appropriately interact with guests who use service animals. To make matters worse, I unexpectedly started my period and needed pads before the gift shop opened. Because the resort had no way to help and the trams were so unreliable, I had to walk all the way down the steep hill just to get basic hygiene supplies. For a resort of this size, that level of guest support is unacceptable. The most concerning part of our stay was the Russian tortoise in the kids' center. I am the founder of The Wise Frog Reptile Rescue and have spent more than 11 years rescuing and rehabilitating reptiles. The tortoise appeared to lack proper UVB and heat, and its shell was in alarming condition. I brought my concerns to staff, but they showed little interest in addressing them. My children were heartbroken because they immediately recognized the animal appeared to be in distress. An animal should never be displayed for children if its welfare is being overlooked. Between the delayed check-in, ignored requests, lack of privacy, treatment over my service dog, unreliable transportation, and concerns about animal welfare, this resort fell far short of the experience we expected. I hope management takes these issues seriously and makes meaningful changes for both guests and the animals in their care

Staff and fellow guests were friendly. Lots of people helped us with directions around the theater. We parked in South Lot. Short paved walk to entrance. Note: Fixed chair seats have numbers on the seat. Grass reserved seats have the numbers on the ground. Lots of folks were initially confused. Ask the staff if you lost, they are very helpful. Lots of people brought their own food (some with full on dinners and dessert). You can buy food there also. We had lots of fun. We'll definitely come back and see other shows. Fun, fun, fun, and laughs.

This little gem is tucked away in downtown Oceanside. No dedicated parking lot but there is free…read more 2-4 hour parking on the street or dedicated public lots. We were immediately greeted when we walked in. I came with my 3-year old and 9 year old. Kids under 12 (I believe) were free. And adults were $10 which made it affordable for all of us to go. The main exhibit, I was told, rotates yearly. In our visit we got to see the surf boards from the Hawaiian Islands. Lots of cool history and reading but the little one was super impatient. I skimmed what I could and continued throughout the exhibits. It was best to see surfboards from original wood to foam. They had a dedicated exhibit regarding the girl who lost her arm during a shark attack while surfing. Her story tells one of perseverance while being able to see the original shark bitten board. The kids probably thought this was most neat. They also had smaller exhibits discussing fins and a body board although it had a different name. I'm not a surfer but lived in Oceanside for a long time and still appreciated this exhibit. The entrance has a small gift shop and my girls left with stuffies and sandals. If you're in Oceanside whether visiting or local, it's worth a stop.

"Charlie don't surf and we think he should Charlie don't…read moresurf and you know that it ain't no good" (The Clash) Dedicated to the history of surfboards and wave riding, the California Surf Museum has entertained tens of thousands of annual visitors from over 40 nations around the globe since 1986. It honors and chronicles the story of surfing over the decades through a vast permanent collection and has a rotating series of special exhibits focusing on narrower topics, As a music fan, I was thrilled to see one of these displays dedicated to "Stars, Cars, and Guitars" and the birth of the modern surf era 1958-1965. If you love that period's music, movies and pop culture (think Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, Dick Dale, Gidget, Beach Blanket Bingo) you will love that part of the museum. Other exhibits looked at a collection of surfboards chronicling the history of surfing, the inspirational story of Hawaii's Bethany Hamilton who lost a chunk of her surfboard and her left arm to a tiger shark, a look at the science of wave swells, a look at body surfing and much more. The museum is a blast and takes a deep dive into one of the more interesting aspects of California culture that evolved into American culture.
