This has been one of the worst experiences. The quality of matches and dating pool at IJL is horrible. My matches meet none of my criteria. The last match lived over 4 hours away, and IJL didn't see an issue. Their matchmakers only respond with the company line when you're frustrated. I've been doing this 9 months, received 3 matches, and they were all awful people. I asked to end my membership early and write this off as a horrible experience and lesson learned. If you live in a city, use Bumble. It's free, they have plenty of well-educated men, and I've had much better success! Don't waste your money on IJL. read more

IJL did not provide services as described. They have over 10 complaints within 6 months at the BBB, and as stated in the IJL contract I have now filed a complaint with the arbitrator association whom have advised me that I do have a case. IJL used high pressure tactics to get me to join, they promised they would match my profile, and assured me that they had sufficient matches in their database that were in my age bracket, but they did not even come close to the basic similarities. I tried to resolve this by contacting them after each date as they asked that the clients do-- but they were always in a big rush to get me off the phone. I finally suggested they simply keep the deposit I made of $500 and release me from the contract, by returning the balance of the loan to the finance company but IJL refused. The loan company said they would ahppily release me from the contract if IJl would simply refund the balance they pre-paid to IJL...but IJL refused. I feel I have been scammed. IJL is not reputable. I suggest you do not waste your hard earned money on Its Just Lunch. Very unprofessional company. read more

I didn't join. I have attended in a different location and I think the idea is great. But the execution here is weird. It's very very expensive, and the number of dates are limited. In their sales calls, I have been told that they have good matches for me, so I should join "NOW" but they never had an interview with me and I never really answered any questions. Once, when they called, they described the kind of man they had in mind for me, and he matched nothing of the kind of criteria I would have. At the last pass that they called, she seemed a little pissed off that I wasn't ready to join, a little short, and at that point, I told her, look, I will call you if I am interested, but honestly, it is just too expensive. I get tons of dates through other online services where I can see a picture and talk online until ready to meet, and it costs me next to nothing, why would I pay here? Maybe this is right for someone, it just isn't right for cheap little me, I guess. read more

I am a women who paid $1,600 to join IJL for six months. I was told there would be several dates lined up for me. IJL proceeded to give me one date per month with the most horrible men ever. They had never been married and had few social skills. One guy put his hands all over me. None of these men were anyone I would even look at twice in a crowd. Not only that, you have to call one of the girls within 48 hours of a date and tell them what happened. I told them I had a bad time and they did not even write any of what I was saying down. As soon as my membership ran out, someone from there called and called me to offer me a year's membership for $1,800. My suggestion is to NOT JOIN IJL. I have to agree with John. I was so skeptical about how some matchmaking services run. I am a busy attorney with an extremely demanding career and finding potential dates is easy if I just want "a date". One of my partners finally confessed how he REALLY met his girlfriend Tracy, a beautiful, classy television producer.... Not through his sister but through It's Just Lunch. He explained the process and the cost and that it was low pressure, upfront cost, everyone paid the same and said give them a call. A few months later, after the lady I was dating called and said she thought I was great but that I would be even better without my 5 year old son I decided what I was doing just was not working. So..it was then that I decided I needed someone else to do the upfront screening for me, so I am meeting people who at least have the same desires and goals such as I. I did not want to waste anymore time with someone who did not want a man with a child. I also wanted to know from the beginning, that every person I would meet would know that I have a son. Among other things, I am somewhat hard to please and want an educated, attractive lady, and yes looks are important to me...who enjoys similar interests. So with hesitation, I called the Dallas It's Just Lunch office, and was very surprised. Over the phone, I was told the price, the lady I spoke to answered my questions and was extremely professional...a little more energetic than I prefer, but still professional. So, I came in for the interview. The office is located in a class A building, the interior of the office was even more posh than the building. The room they placed me in was comfortable and the decor was very upscale. I filled out paperwork, met with a Director and was not planning on joining the service that day. However, after the interview I was comfortable enough to consider doing it then. I told the Director I wanted to make sure each date she sent me on was a perfect fit and did not want to waste my time. She said very candid "If you want me to guarantee perfection, I will not let you join. I need to get to know you as you go out on each date and this is a process so you need to be realistic with your expectations." I knew then that regardless of what happened she would have my best interest and she was not trying to sell me. I ended up joining the service that day and have been a client for over 5 months. I was called the following morning after joining with my first date. I went out on my first date the same week that I joined their program. The first 2 dates were pretty good, but the dates became better and better with a couple a miss, but nothing more than a chemistry issue. The ladies were all professional, attractive and high caliber individuals. Overall this has been a very good experience and the only reason I am taking the time to write this is because there are so many complaints I have seen about services in general. Had I not been personally referred to the program, I would have never attempted to join a service like this. I want single professionals to realize that as you get in your 30's and have a career, it becomes more difficult to meet eligible mates and this program has worked for me. I am sure it doesn't work for everyone, but at the end of the day some people are single for a reason. I am pleased to say that I just placed my membership on hold as I am currently dating a wonderful woman through the service, who is beautiful, professional and loves my son. So anyone nervous about the "WHAT IF" just take the plunge. Make sure you are realistic with your expectations. I know this business is a franchise, so I cannot speak about other It's Just Lunch offices, I just know that I give 5 stars to the Dallas office. They have done everything they said they would do. They have called me with matches every few weeks, presented everyone in detail before I met them, and made dating much easier for me than how I was doing it before. read more

I went in close to two years ago to talk with these people. I found their prices to be too high to be a good fit for me and I told them I wasn't interested. Since then, I've received phone call after phone call from them. I've asked them to stop calling me, I've asked them to take me off their list, I've told them I am not interested and yet, they continue to call me. I really wished that I read the reviews before joining. I realize that there are several locations but I joined the Addison location. It is a total scam!!! All they care about is collecting the $1700 and not about you. I joined because I work long hours and did not go out much. In addition, I just moved to Dallas therefore, I did not have a lot of friends or knew people. I thought this was a good way of meeting people in a more upper scale basis. I am an educated professional who is mentally, emotionally, and financially stable. As the result, I wanted a dating service that would match me to what I am looking for without going through the traditional dating websites. I quickly learned that when they want your money, they say anything to appease you. Like everyone else, I went through the same process. It's evident that they are taught to "script" since my representative, Brenda, said all the same things. Brenda is the "elite Director" and very good at selling you an empty bag of goods! At this point, I have gone on 3 dates. Two of them were "ok" but the last one was repulsively disgusting! It was evident that he did not shower and needed to shower. In addition, he had terrible halitosis! Not only was he physically unattractive but he had emotional issues that rooted from his previous relationship that was clearly unresolved. In addition, they arranged for us to meet a bar but he did not even drink! I find it disturbing that they did not listen to anything that I shared, especially if they asked what my preferences were. I understand that there is not a perfect match but the last date was evident that they disregarded my responses. I specifically provided them what my preferences were, especially non-negotiables and they matched me with a guy who was the extreme opposite of what I described. What was the point for them asking me what I looked for in a man when they ended up matching me to the most disgusting, smelly guy ever!!! For the price that I paid, I should have gotten an exact match not someone with just a pulse! I was so irritated with It's Just Lunch after I gave them feedback the next day that I decided to hold off on further matches. Unfortunately, I have to use up my months since I would loose my money if I did not re-active my profile. It would not surprise me if they pay people to go on these dates with you to say that they "had 4-5 perfect matches!" I've been very disappointed with IJL Baltimore. This has been the worst use of $2,500 I've ever spent in my life. My "dating director" knows nothing about me, and has never bothered. I've been bumped around to 3 different dating directors, none of whom know much about me other than my height and weight and a list of random interests. They usually ignore my emails, and although I've requested a refund many times - they've refused. I requested my first refund 3 weeks after signing up when my 'dating director' went missing. Turns out she was "out sick". It's a terrible service, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

I made the mistake of trying this service twice. First was with a local branch in Dallas and then was with the corporate branch that extends throughout the US. The first time I tried IJL Dallas I was given an extremely limited number of profiles and reluctantly went on dates based on their strong recommendation. All but one of the dates was what I would classify as awful. The second time I signed up I did it with they understanding, because it was a corporate branch, that they had a much larger database of great matches from all over the US. I figured since it is easy for me to travel maybe I would have a better experience and receive better matches if other cities and states were included. Unfortunately it was even more disastrous the second time around. I received an average of one profile every one to two months from someone I never met and they were all clearly desperate attempts so they could fulfill their contract. It was as though they had absolutely no database at all to work from even when I gave them the criteria to send me profiles from anywhere in the US who they thought would be a good match. Going into any random bar or online website or even walk out onto any random street or grocery store and you will find and meet matches a hundred times better than what IJL can provide. You will absolutely not meet attractive professional singles with this service. I am speaking as an attractive very successful business man who they should have had no problem putting me into their matching pool if they actually had one. This is the only time in my life I have felt like I was completely scammed and is the only time in my life that I have written a review, but I hope it helps others out there know what a garbage service this really is. read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had. I am a professional male in my early 50's, who is successful and not too bad on the eyes. I signed up with Its Just For Lunch the latter part of 2014. It was a joke from the beginning. They have a bunch of immature, very young girls working there. All they know how to do is giggle. So unorganized. They don't communicate with each other. They stated they were new at setting up gay people, but they assured me that I would get great opportunities and meet great guys. Not one match in 6 months. I had nothing in common with any of them. One guy told he was upset with them too. In fact they promised me 6 dates and I didn't event get that. I wanted someone who went to the gym. None of them had good builds. One guy said he started the gym the day before our date. I guess I had to be more specific on how long. Then they told me they were going to JR's, a gay bar, to recruit more clients. I also don't drink or go out to the bar, so why would I want to meet someone they met there. After my last date no one followed up with a call to see how it went or anything. My rep acted like she cared, but did nothing. My sister used them and I should have learned from her. She had a bad experience too. Don't waste your money, they are a HUGE JOKE!!! read more

I was sweet talked into their services 2 years back in Calgary and that was the only time when the sales person responsible to sign me up was available to talk discuss and nail me into the contract ( the only time when they worked over weekends to ensure my money was in their bank !) thereafter i got 3 (!!! In all till date ) loser dates whose profiles were nowhere close to any description i had made of my choice of my man. They have been changing dating directors even faster than blink of an eye and their services is nowhere close to ethical if not downright bogus and pathetic. Dating directors are rude ! They send templates for communication and one of them tried to rope me into " exclusive service" with additional money than my initial 2800cad ! ... Thankfully i had better sense . I wudnt recomment anyone to waste the money .. I dont feel its fair that i have no choice of refunds in this matter if i am not satisfied or the fact that no one cares about my plight to takes any feedback at all . I have waited more than 1.5 full years for this to work out but the mgmt is simply interested in money laundering .. I would even call them frauds because when the sales talk came to encourage me to signup i was told there was at least 12 instant matches waiting for me and as soon as i signed up they cudnt find a single match for me even as the first whole month went by ! read more
