I had this place bookmarked to try, and on my last night in Berlin, I made the half hour trip over…read moreto check it out. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, this is far from a flash tourist place.
The sign over the door touts "slow food" and that pretty much sums up my experience. I arrived, alone, to a restaurant that was empty inside but pretty full on their patio - maybe eight tables total. I took a table for one outside around the corner from the door. It was 45 minutes from when I arrived until I got my pizza. I had to go inside to ask for dessert and the check, and there found the two waitresses standing by the bar chatting. I know service in Europe is not like the US, but really? Check on your tables!
The food itself left much to be desired. I'm gluten free, so I was really excited to try their buckwheat pizza. It was thin, undercooked, and bland - the pizza bases you buy at the grocery store are better. The gluten free cheesecake was really dry and the base was just off.
I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, and personally, I wouldn't recommend it. Maybe the gluten food is better, but I'll never know.
