To say that I was hesitant is an under statement. At first I couldn't find the salon because it's actually called Jacobs hair salon. I had booked an appointment with Sara, I explained to Sara what cut I wanted sadly she wasn't able to give me that cut due to my hair being straight on top and curly mid scalp. I wanted to bring out as many of my curls out as possible (I love my curls) So Sara went to work in the most unconventional way that I have ever experienced (it was new to me) I don't think Sara used a comb or a brush, she started cutting and I had my fingers crossed under the cape. Long story short, I LOVED what Sara had done to my hair, exactly what I had asked for. I left super happy, I didn't want to write a review until I had been able to style my own hair. I will be back for sure, maybe sooner than later because I want bangs to go with this great cut.

Wanted to try something different and saw this place specializes in curls. I waited about 5 mins after arriving before I got in a chair. My stylist, Sara, did a great job. I showed her a photo and I really don't think she could have matched it any closer. She was kind and attentive throughout the process and made sure things were going in the desired direction. I heard about Studio Fontana on a Facebook group. The lady quoted me a price under $130 for dye, cut and style. When I arrived at the salon they were behind schedule. The lady met me and was really friendly. She then began to do my hair. After she washed out the dye I noticed my roots were still very dark and I asked her some questions about my hair. She then revealed, she used a temporary dye on my hair (what??? Are you kidding me!!) and she is going to charge me more to re-dye my hair because she will now have to use more dye and it will come out of her pocket. Okay, so now I'm being charged for her mistake?? If she did it right the first time, I wouldn't be in this situation. No salon has ever used temporary dye on my hair. Now, instead of leaving at a normal hour, I was stuck waiting for her to finish my hair until midnight. During the 6 hours I was stuck at this salon I was famished. I wanted to eat dinner but could not because I was sitting in the salon. I also didn't want to eat dinner at midnight since it was time for me to schlep home and go to bed. Any who, my hair looked good when I left the salon but the next day something glorious happened. After I went in the shower (the stylist said this was okay) the dye ran out of my hair and I had no more dye in my hair. My hair faded in one wash! Was this really permanent dye? I really don't think so! I've dyed my hair for years and have never experienced anything like this. I would honestly NEVER return to this salon. Yes, the lady was nice but I've never had my hair fade in one day. This was a horrible experience and I had to go pay another salon to fix their mistake. Talk about a pricy haircut and dye job. Now I had to spend another $200 to redo what Salon Fontana didn't do Right the first time. I don't recommend this salon at ALL.

I love going to the salon to get my hair done. That's because of Azan's. I've experienced services…read morethat I didn't get at other black-owned salons I've been to, which may shock some. 1. My appointment starts on time. As soon as I enter and register, I'm taken around back to start my hair. I'm not sitting waiting for my stylist for 45 minutes nor am I waiting between services. I've once had my hair air dry while waiting for someone to be free to blow dry it. This DOESN'T happen at Azan's. 2. I don't spend all day at the salon. I can actually plan other appointments/events for my day. 3. They don't charge black market kidney prices. My wallet is not as badly affected and they have special pricing for students. 4. My hair has never been healthier. I relax my hair and using chemicals strips it of natural moisture, usually causing it to break and appear like it's not growing. However, my stylist, Karin, really takes care of my hair. I know I'm in good hands and it shows...right there on my head! For these reasons, I keep going back to Azan's.

During the shampoo there was a little head massage which I thought was an awesome touch. Both times I was really happy with the result and excited to show off my new hair. It's worth mentioning that the vibe of this salon is one of the best I've experienced. Everyone I spoke with was friendly, you feel welcomed coming in, clients seem at ease and happy.
