Though she made reservations for a place by the window, somehow the info got "lost in translation". Renè, the half Czech half Dutch waiter was willing to ask the guests if they would mind moving but we stopped him. The food was delicious, he prepared three courses of different dishes, was insanely kind, knowledgeable and attentive. When all guests left, he let us stay almost 30 minutes longer so we could enjoy the desserts. It is not a fancy place but if you appreciate authentic place and delicious food, you'll have a nice experience!

It's a beautiful interior, wide open and lots of tables and light. It's very "westernized" with a lot of English signage, which I guess is for the American tourists. I am not a big fan of that, but I won't hold it against them. The pizza and pasta were great. I recommend for a place in a pinch or a planned dinner with some friends!

This time I was there with my daughter and her best friend (both 16) on their Spring Break trip, so my priorities looked a little less like nightlife and a little more like making sure everyone was fed, safe, and happy. My daughter's friend has a severe allergy to fish, nuts, and kiwi, so when we travel with her, we have to be really intentional about where we eat. De Dijk was the first place we stopped for food, and they were fantastic. The food was delicious, the staff was incredibly kind and friendly, and they were very attentive and accommodating when it came to her allergies, which I really appreciated. We were only in Volendam for two days, and we ended up eating here twice . . . partly because it was so good, and partly because they're one of the only places serving food on the Dijk after 9:00pm. This is a must-stop for me anytime I'm in Volendam, and I'll definitely be back soon.

It would be 5 stars, if they had good wine. The wine they sold in glasses was of poor quality (like a 4€ bottle in a supermarket) and this is why they don't get 5 stars. You could taste the sulphites and the only wines (two kinds) sold per glass were either sweet or semi-dry. I would gladly pay more for a decent glass, because the food deserves it.
