Allen Beaulieu, the rep who I made the original contract with, sold me on the idea of the "Full Value Protection" which boasted up to $100,000.00 coverage on my home goods. I paid the extra cost for the "full protection" because he assured me that any damaged items would be much better covered with the insurance. This was apparently a lie as it has been 2 months since I filed my claim and the company has repeatedly advised me that the insurance company was still evaluating the claim, and that there was nothing Graceful Moves could do until the insurance company made a decision. There are no rockets are science involved in this transaction. I paid Graceful Moves to move my furniture. I paid for the extra insurance which Graceful Moves recommended. Graceful Moves broke my table and they now refuse to make any payment despite the fact that I had the "Full Protection" insurance. Use Graceful Moves at your own peril.

Their initial compensation offer was $23. After six months of haggling and constant follow-ups, they finally offered $123. I was exhausted and just took it to be done. To top it off, this was a Texas-to-Florida move, and they were extremely vague about when my belongings would actually arrive. No clear delivery day, no transparency--just stress and uncertainty. If you value your belongings or your time, please do not use this company. A good first impression means nothing when they can't keep track of your property or communicate honestly.

I interviewed about 6 moving companies and right away from talking with Abner I felt comfortable. Other moving companies were very persistent, trying to sell me, and seemed dishonest. Abner was very responsive and straight forward but did not contact me again after initial quote until I decided to go with him. He garunteed pick up date and arrival date (and time and was 10 minutes early each time!) which was huge for us as our move had to be very scheduled and other companies quoted us a 2 week interval (or more!) of when our items would be delivered. His crew in Houston arrived and packed our entire apartment, included disassembling basic items. They were extremely professional and efficient. Every item even valuable and breakable items arrived in perfect condition. He met us in San Fransisco 5 days later and him and two others unloaded all our boxes and assembled any dissassembled items. Again very professional and efficient. Iron back movers turned what could have been a very stressful move into 0 stress. Abner was extremely hardworking, professional, and easy to work with as was every member of his team. We hope we can use him for any future moves even though we are no longer in Houston!

My second experience was this past weekend. They call 15 minutes before they are supposed to show up to tell me that one of the three guys cannot make it. Furthermore the two guys I do show up start the day off by complaining that this is going to take way too long... I struggled to keep their attitude from interfering with my excitement about moving. It was evident in their attitude to the we're working slower as well and so I did tell them after 4 hours to stop because I wanted to get home at a decent hour. Then they waste an hour trying to Bill me before they unload.... and while unloading none of the boxes are put the correct rooms(in a 1200sq ft apartment) even though I spent an hour color coding them. My complaints were handled with a crass attitude and the question "what do you want me to do about it" I agree that movers can be a bit of a mixed bag but the customer service was just as bad as my second experience with this company I wouldn't recommend anybody else using it either.

Melvin called back at 2:46 and said "yeah our guys are just backed up right now and won't be able to get to you until some hours, can you take a priority move for tomorrow?". After I said I could not, Melvin stated he was going to reach out to his "sister company" to get additional assistance. At 2:52 Edward called and casually stated "This is Edward, we'll be there in an hour". At 4:31 I called Melvin back and asked him what was the update with the sister company. He stated "let me call them and see". He called back less than 2 minutes later and casually said "yea our guys had an emergency on the way to you nobody is going to be able to move you today." This company treated me as if I was the problem when I paid for a service they were not able to render. Melvin knew at 2:46 PM they were not going to provide services, yet kept me waiting hoping I would settle for a "priority move" Monday. They were not apologetic about inconveniencing me, letting me know they do not think they are replaceable.

However, the movers accidentally broke a wall light in my new rental while carrying a mattress, innocent mistake. The movers assured me that Stress Less would take care of this damage. Wrong! Stress Less has repeatedly refused to cover the damages. My property management company is now charging me over $700 for the broken light. It may be appealing to book Stress Less, they may have the cheapest rate on Uhaul, but you will end up paying for it on the backend. You will regret your decision like I am now.
