Luckily stumbled upon this hidden gem. The sushi was fresh and super delicious. They were a bit busy and short staffed during dinner rush so service wasn't tops but the Manager gave us complimentary dessert which was so so delicious. The combo boat was super worth it and also very delicious. Aburi was very tasty with generous amount of fish. The shrimp starter was really good too. read more

DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE! The food here could have been tastier and fish is more fresh than it is, but we still ate there occasionally for the convenience of its location.BUT THE STUFF IS SO RUDE! I arrived earlier for lunch and parked my car by the restaurant, they open at 11, and I went on a 30 mins walk around the block while waiting. I stop by their door to let them know I am waiting for them to be open, but it was locked ( at least they saw me at the camera that I stoped by). When I came back my car was towing away. I called the restaurant right away and asked the owner to stop towing, he said he will come out to talk to a towing driver. When he came up - he recognized me as a loyal customer!But started yelling at me with his hand straight forward, saying that he is right and I was wrong( what????) I asked him to give me my car back because I am a customer, and came to eat at his place,he interrupted and yelled to a driver to take my car away! Such an unprofessional, inconsiderable, uncivil and argumentative person!!!!Never ever again I will come eat at this place. They treat customers neither indifferent or in very defensive and disrespectful way. When I called him to ask a phone number or an address where they took my car, he yelled that I can find them on Google. It took me a few hours to get my car back. Not to mention a lot of money I had to pay to towing company, for his unprofessional and uncosiderable mistake, at least he could have wait until they open to check if parked car is a customer. Our family loves the vibe here. We always receive timely service and food. The owner always comes to chat with us and gives our kiddos a special treat at the end of our meal. Visited Isshin today and ordered an $8.40 takeout for one person. Guy at the counter hands me the debit machine and he's already added a 25% tip to the fee. I'm a tipper, but not 25% (I tip 15% if I stay-in and a waiter / waitress assists my order). I thought that was kind of presumptuous and ignorant. Not many reviews on Yelp so it decided to come and try this place. It was busy when I arrived at 7 p.m. an hour before closing and seemed very promising. Got seated at the sushi bar but it took a long time for Mighty to arrive. Even ordered my food and got my miso soup before tea. Ordered the dinner Bento and the food was okay. Nothing to brag about, just okay. If anything needs to improve, I think the service needs to. I even had to pay $0.50 for green tea and had two cups only in my 45 minutes of dining. I shouldn't have to ask for refills. It would have been helpful if someone came by to check to see if my food was fine but no one did it. read more

So my boyfriend and I started our experience by waiting in line with no one to even let us know what was going on, and after about 10 minutes the people ahead of us went and sat at a table filled with dishes, and as did we. We sat there impatiently for 20 minutes before someone finally came and gave the table a quick ineffective wipe, then moved the dishes to the table beside. We got two waters and it took them another 10 minutes to get those to us. The waitress made 0 attempt to be social or apologetic for the circumstances. Cleanliness is abysmal, food is average, service is terrible. Ginza across the street is miles better in every aspect. As a local Penticton person I am very disappointed in what we are displaying to out tourists. I can honestly say I will never come here again, and will always get my sushi from Ginza. read more

Isshin has raised the bar for sushi in this town after moving to this new Front street location from their old Main street haunts. I've been twice in the past few weeks and I'm impressed with the quality of the food and the presentation. Portions are huge for the money. I'll still go to Lee's Overseas for take out but I think I prefer Isshin's dining room and flare. Great tempura, sashimi, and various other rolls have all been great. Sushi: Fantastic. I didn't expect much from a penticton sushi place, but I was very impressed. The gyoza was also fantastic. Service: Average - Poor. Nobody is at the door to greet you, and you have to wander in awkwardly and seat yourself somewhere.. and hope you were seen by a waitress. It got off to a rocky start with being slightly neglected, but the food was brought out quickly and she was friendly. Giving the benefit of a doubt here. Cleanliness: DISGUSTING. I have never seen somewhere so disturbingly unclean. Spiderwebs everywhere, unclean tables.. you name it. Eeuuuck. If i wasn't dying for sushi, I would have left immediately upon seeing all this. One of the best lunch bento meal in Penticton. Been there around 4-5 visits. Overall, Cleanliness 5/5, Service 4/5, Food (Asia dish) 3/5, (Jap) Sashimi and rest 5/5. Price 4/5. The asian food are either not good enough or is too sweet. Our favourite spot for lunch as the Sashimi bento for $16 is good price (2 each Tuna, Salmon and octopus+Chicken or Beef Teriyaki rice+Tempura and small side dish). Dinner wise only 2 bento meals (box A for 1 ppl $18 and lesser sashimi then Lunch box, box B for 2 ppl $45 i. So is not worth it from my opinion. read more

I have eaten sushi worldwide including it's birthplace, and this place is somewhere in the middle. It was alright. I had worse but I have had a lot better sushi as well. I would go here again if I had to. The cleanliness or lack of it also was a turnoff. The waitress was friendly but didn't seem to speak much English. Parking was easy. read more

This is a wonderful restaurant with delicious Japanese food. I had the teriyaki and tempura combo. We also shared the spinach gamaae and the shrimp salad. The shrimp salad has an amazing dressing with lots of shrimp. We always stop here when in town. It never disappoints. read more
