The person who drives the boat is required to take a test and know boat safety before getting in the water. We rented a pontoon boat from 11 am to 5 pm and was $550 plus gas consumption. They do get really busy and packed, so parking could be an issue. The walk from parking to where you check in is quite hilly, so keep this in mind when bringing children/elders. There's even a place where you can inflate your floaties to enjoy the lake better!

Connect your phone to the speaker system via Bluetooth. Ask for instructions before your leave the dock. 9. The store on site has all your essentials for reasonable prices. 10. I have a 24 foot sailboat and had previously taken a US Sailing course. It did not help me at all with the executionof sailing. I capsized my old Y Flyer and really lost a lot of the confidence I once had. I wasn't able to fully enjoy sailing any more and my confidence was shaken. In steps my dad who gifted me sailing classes. I chose Sunrise because of their reviews and the fact that the classes were small. In fact, my course was one-on-one. John was extremely patient with me, and over the 2 days of lessons, really brought back my confidence. He is an excellent instructor who doesn't just spout facts or instructions. He used the experiences on the lake to teach, which helped me remember the lessons. I like to learn the "why" not just the "how to," and that is what John taught me. Now that I know why things have to be done certain ways, it made sense and was easier to remember. I also experienced 2 different boats. Each of these boats were outfitted with accessories that I don't have on my boat and was considering purchasing. I even thought I wanted a wheel instead of a tiller. Joke was on me! It was nice to use these tools to learn on and be able to make an informed decision on considering them to boat on my boat. Today we sailed in some pretty intense wind and my uneasiness with heeling in high winds gave way to pure exhilaration. I am so excited about my sailing adventures and feel a lot more confident in my skills and knowledge. They called the next day trying to charge us for being half an hour late. Even though we started out late, because the party in front of us brought the boat in late. We were also told when we took the boat that we didn't have to rush back since it wasn't rented after us and we started late. They only ended up charging us for 15 min, but the lady was so aggressive and rude. The boat looked better when we brought it back than when we left. We took the time to clean everything off and were able to pull up to the dock and immediately hand it over. Also the pictures online of the boats are not at all what you get.

He offers monthly classes via zoom and both public (pay per person) and private outings on Lake Lanier. Once you are ready for the ocean part of the course you'll do a weekend or two down in the Jacksonville FL area. I couldn't give Windsong Sailing a higher reccomendation! My wife and I both did our training with Windsong. I've been on 3 Charters in the BVIs since completing the ASA 101, 103, and 104 with him and have got to put his techniques for standardization and crew resource management to good use. I have yet to be the captain but have witnessed other skilled Captains make simple mistakes that would have been prevented by Dave's thorough techniques he has learned from his vast sailing experience. Dave's course is not a 0 to hero course like a week-long trip down to Florida might offer. It's a course over time that will really create a solid foundation to keep your passengers, boat, and crew safe. I'd start with a seat on a Saturday public outing and his ASA 101 ground school ASAP!

There was a birthday party going on and the park was filled with folks of all ages. Trails: A little walk on the left leads you to the dam(falls) and it's a very quiet and serene path to walk or jog. There are 2-3 trails around the park but a bit rugged, so I recommend going when there's plenty of daylight. Parking spots are plenty and the park is pet-friendly. Fun fact: Atlanta Astronomy Club conduct star gazing events at this park. Check their website for more information!

There are also kayak rentals on the river bank below. When we came we hiked the 3/4 mile looped trail behind the playground accessible from the parking lot. There was a bald eagle flying above his beat. Kayakers down below had beached themselves on a sandbar in the middle of the river. A guitarist was jamming and kids were playing in the Sun. Just a picture perfect place to relax and take in the sites.

And they were such great hosts. I met a couple board members and they were very gracious. The view is outstanding from the point. Camping is encouraged and they have lots of room. Their club house if fantastic with an open floor plan, gigantic working fireplace, clean restrooms, and large screen TV that was very important on the day we were there. Football was on all day so between races(and sometimes during) we were able to keep up with out favorite games! I look forward to being there next year!
