Found these folks on Yelp and I think they will be my go-to rental place next time I'm in town!…read more Wanted to try out the kiddos on some boogie boards, and at $10 for a 24-hour rental, it's not a bad rate. She even waived a fee since I paid cash. When I came back two days later to rent them again, they already had most of my info, I just needed to rescan my license and pay up and it was smooth sailing. A third day would have put me over the weekly rate ($25), and she said I could just pay the $5 since I had already rented two days. Nice, some other place might have penalized me for that, but these folks are just trying to make the equipment rental process really easy. Even returning the boards I just handed them back and told them my name, no need to sign anything. While I only got boogie boards, they also have surf boards, paddle boards, kayaks, and so many bicycles. Their website has the full list of prices and offerings. I'll definitely be back - highly recommended!!!

We rented a tandem kayak. Very helpful, good directions and map if want to do self-guided tour…read more They have a really good launch location and nice scenic loop before pathway opens to the bay where can get close to the lighthouse. We were able to see an eagle, ponies and plenty of birds. It's about 2 hrs and great way to see nature up close. We're planning on using them again when we come back. Would recommend!

I used to shop at Ron Jon's when I lived closer to the east coast. Being that I haven't been there…read morein awhile I wasn't sure what to expect. Note I did check out a few other "surf" shops in OCMD that were quite frankly a hot mess and junky. The outside and inside was very pristine and well kept. I love all the brands Oakley, Costa, Rip Curl, etc. The staff was pretty nice. I did buy a Ron Jon pop socket for my phone. Probably overpaid for a Ron Jon logo one but alas I'm from the West Coast and I thought it was cool. When I got back home I found a cute Ron Jon sticker they put in my bag. Clean, Organized and nice upscale merchandise.

I'm not going to lie, I'm the wrong person to do a review for a place like this so whatever I write…read moretake with a grain of a grain of salt. YMMV. The last two times we've been to OCMD my Old Lady wanted to come to Ron Jon on some sort of nostalgia trip since the last time she had been to one was thirty-ish years ago at a long since closed location somewhere in NJ. My take on what they sell here...Hard No. If you're into pastels, bold colors, more cut off shirts then Larry the Cable Guy owns, loud prints and logoed corporate merch then I guess you might be good here. But, if you're an anti-consumer like myself, you'll last about three minutes before your eyes will roll back in your head like a shark chomping down on a harbor seal waiting for the deliverance of leaving. The staff we encountered was very nice and they answered a question or two my wife asked regarding the few trinkets she wanted. If you're into stuff or the types of things Ron Jon sells, then you'll love it here. If not...

It's simply amazing, the lessons were top notch and had tons of fun learning how to surf!read more

I was in town for one week and am in the process of learning to kiteboard. I spoke with Bob (the…read moreshop owner) and the instructor, Jaxson, about my skill level (beginner, got up on the board and moving forward during the last lesson I had) and goals prior to arriving. My first lesson with Jaxson was not good. He was not prepared from an equipment/communication standpoint for the lesson. He had only a waist harness (no seat harness) for a beginner lesson. He brought only one size kite, which seemed too small for the amount of wind we had and my body weight. He brought only one size board, which was ~20cm smaller than the board I used during other lessons. It is my understanding that larger boards are preferential for beginners. He asked me if I wanted to wear a helmet (yes, I am still learning). He did not bring an impact vest. He did not bring a method of communication (ie BbTALKIN). Whenever I would ask Jaxson a technical question, his basic response was "that's just how it is". I am a very technical person and I appreciate understanding how things work. I like to know the details. When I tried to dig deeper for further details, I could sense him getting frustrated. He would just reiterate what he had already said. After our lesson, he sent me a text stating that I wasted his time and money because I misrepresented my skill level (I told him I was a beginner). He also stated he was upset with me because he bumped me ahead of other students that had been waiting for at least a month for a lesson (I did not ask for this). If you want to learn to kiteboard, please go elsewhere or you will be disappointed. I wasted my time and money (and excitement). Please don't waste yours!
