Recently purchased a few guitars from here. I wasn't happy with the feel. So brought them back to trade in for something different and more expensive. Which was no problem. But the new guitar was also not a fit. So I tried to trade in again possibly for something else, and they said no deal we aren't "playing this game". I'm well within the store policy. But was denied service! All my purchases will be returned if they "allow" it. Will never recommend again. read more

I've taken guitar lessons at this place and it was HORRIBLE. The instructor was an awful player and they didn't even let me choose my own teacher they just gave me some random guy who didn't even play the style I wanted to learn. A month after taking lessons he then started preaching to me about Christianity and religion. Needless to say, I stopped taking the lessons right away. It doesn't end there though. I recently bought a guitar with a Floyd Rose system and I needed it setup. I called them to see how much it would run me and they said 20 some dollars + cost of strings. When I went into the store the following day(because that was the day the guitar technician was in,) the guy told me it'd be 60 dollars not 20 dollars. I accepted the offer because I can't very well set it up myself so I had no choice. He then told me it would be done on Thursday that week or Tuesday the following week. It turns out it wont be done until MAYBE Thursday the next week. So if you like terrible service and overpriced/last minute price swapping this is the store for you. I thought Guitar Center was bad but they are MUCH better than Island Music. All in all this is not where you want to be shopping for anything except maybe buying accessories such as guitar picks, strings, or books. read more

I had a very old string instrument restrung and cleaned up at Island Music and they did a phenomenal job, the price was reasonable for the work that went into it, and the staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking to have an instrument repaired or rebuilt. read more

I have been doing business with these guys for years. I find them very professional and the service there is top shelf. To the guy with the kid playing with things on the shelf, I think their behavior was not at all right for a 7 year old, I have children and they have been taught not to go into a store and finger things unless they ask. To the issue on set up on the guitar, if you felt 60 bucks was expensive, I can assure it is not, you could went someplace else. I am not going to allow these people to be trashed. Sounds to me like you are a bunch of cry babies, grow up. Great job to all at Island Music, if you want great service and professional help, look no further than Island Music, please stop whining. read more

Customer service was horrible! The gentlmen that helped me was rude. I was trying to keep my business local but I will be going somewhere else. He had NO people skills at all, expecially with children. My son was well behaved, he picked up a whistle and guy literally yelled at him! Really!! What 7 year old wouldn't pick up a whistle. I will never go back or recommend him to any one. read more
