"Hawaii is the island of big dreams for both islanders and guests. Those dreams born in paradise…read morecan indeed come true." ― Sharon Linnéa We stayed here after exchanging timeshare stuff. Room 902, Banyan Suite. I don't know what I'm talking about in terms of timeshare knowledge. All I know is that the Orlando timeshare was exchanged to stay in Waikiki. If you keep in mind that you're just here to sleep and shower, you won't be too disappointed. It is a bit cramped and dated but it's in a great centralized location with a lot of walkable places nearby, it almost makes up for it. What doesn't work is the lack of privacy. I had my "Do not disturb" sign up our whole stay and apparently it wasn't enough to keep someone out. On our weeklong stay, everything went well (solid 3-stars) until the last night when we had spent about 12-hours away from our room only to come back to find the lights on and the hot water in our shower running. It was scary and an invasion of privacy. A later investigation, after filing an incident report, showed that a plumber had came in and turned on the shower while working on the unit next door. This all would have been fine and dandy, maintenance is required and I get it, if they texted or called us about it but we had no note or notice and came back with the lights on and the shower blasting like a fire hydrant. Imagine if you were a lone solo traveler and came back to the bathroom shower running. Even with staying with someone else, I was unnerved and slept with the lights on because we didn't know who entered our room until AFTER we left the island. And because the hot water was running for who knows how long, dew droplets formed on top of the ceiling and sprinkler system outside the bathroom above the kitchenette. We dried it up when we saw it and I hope they don't charge us for damage that their plumber caused. So while I love Waikiki and how centralized the location is, I cannot recommend The Imperial Hawaii Resort to anyone. They do offer fun classes and activities throughout the week if you're interested. Also the elevators are incredibly slow.

These are just rooms. It's like an upscale camping experience. You do share showers & toilets and there is a blow dryer!! . But it is not what you would assume. People were very friendly, respectful, & just humble! It's like taking a shower at the gym after a workout! My hubby & I are trying to enjoy every bit of hawaii without draining our account. We really want to experience camping but with 2 toddlers (3 & 2 year olds) we weren't sure if we were capable of handling 2 kids and the wilderness. This place gave us the opportunity to assess ourselves. We packed beach gears, our own grill, a Crock pot, the rice cooker, our frozen marinate, the perculator for the cold nights of kaneohe in December and off we went. The first night we checked in it was really chilly out and too dark to explore. So we went straight to bed...beds were nice and soft. Too soft for me but was comfortable . Next day it was so windy out we went to the cottage side beaches for grilling & beaching. It was breath taking. Kids played all day on the beach and didn't want to leave. It was our first night as well to try the showers! The shower room is key card entry only so you know each person there is checked in and is a guest as well. The showers are nicely HOT!!! My whole family had great HOT SHOWERS during our stay...which was much needed on our cold windy nights out. All rooms has air conditioning so that was nice. We really spoiled ourselves calling this a camping experience. Lol. But it was a good price for all the amenities. Bring Clorox wipes. Any spill of food ants come out. It doesn't bother me I grew up in Guam (it's an island thang) so I just wipe them off and clean as I go each time I or my kids have meals. And if you forgot ANY THING at home....MCX Shoppette near the main gate amazingly has everything! That was an A plus! Last day we spent it at the SUPER PLAYGROUND. The kids loved it. There was a barbecue pit nearby so we grilled some kalbi while children had a blast. It was a nice 4 day weekend well spent with the family. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Offers daily tours and social events every night to meet others in the hostel (definitely superior to other hostels). Cons: let me preface by saying I understand this is definitely a "you get what you pay for" experience. However, there are a few things that I truly believe are kinda like "bare minimums" that should be included/fixed even factoring the price. Does NOT provided a blanket... only a top sheet is provided. The hostel should most definitely be providing an actual blanket, and this is especially annoying because they do NOT inform you that you only receive a top sheet!!!!! That is a serious qualm I had. Hooks in bathroom were falling apart. No sink counter space...could not even set down your toiletries bag. You need to have a least a little bit so you can put stuff down. No table/surface to put stuff on. I'm not expecting a full dining set table. But you should at least have a small table/desk so you have somewhere to set things on. These reasons are why I had to take off a star. I would stay here again. But I do believe there are some realistic changes that need to be made.

As shown in my attached photo, the temperature was 94°F. I had booked a semi-private room with only one other roommate, and our room did not have nearly as many fans as the larger shared room where it was cooler and people were actually sleeping under covers! I understand that the front desk claimed the hostel advertises that it does not have air conditioning, but there is a major difference between simply not having A/C and trying to sleep in a room that is 94 degrees. The heat was unbearable, and I was immediately sweating. I literally checked in, walked into the room, felt how unbearably hot it was, and walked right back out. I told the front desk that I could not possibly sleep there under those conditions. I was inside for approximately 1-2 minutes, yet I was not offered any refund. I was immediately sent an invoice for full price, almost $200. And they were able to rent it out again because I immediately gave them the keys. I really wanted to like this place because I think an all-female hostel is a great idea. However, a 94-degree sleeping environment with inadequate fans was simply not reasonable or comfortable for me. Given that I essentially walked into the room and immediately left without actually staying, I also wish the front desk had shown some flexibility regarding a refund. Please have the manager or owner reach out to me.

I've stayed at many hostels throughout the United States and Seaside has become one of my…read morefavorites. The staff were amazing and very friendly. And I found Seaside to be an affordable, clean, and decent place to stay while in Hawaii. I had a conference to attend in the neighborhood of Waikiki, in the city of Honolulu on the island of Oahu. And I didn't want to pay $400 per night for a hotel room, which was the conference rate, so I decided to stay at Seaside which was conveniently located within walking distance to the conference hotel. Seaside is close to the beach, great restaurants, shopping, and other amenities, but just remote enough to provide some breathing room. If you haven't stayed at a hostel before, all you need to do is use your public manners and exercise your trust abilities during your stay. You share a room with people you've never met, but most people come with a very open mind and open spirit. You participate in a nice community and feel that energy when you enter. You share the refrigerator with others and trust your food will be there when you come back (and it is!). You share the kitchen, the dishes, cookware, coffee pot. You share a bathroom. There are lockers in the rooms to store your valuables. When you check-in you are assigned a number which tells you where your bed is in the room and the place to put your towel. During breakfast a few of us were chatting about the previous day's adventures or sharing recommendations of where to go. It's a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Quiet hours are enforced and I was able to get a good night's rest.
