I have been to many chiropractors and none of them spend as much time on you as Dr Nick and his team. The treatments last an hour to an hour and a half or more. They spend a lot of time relaxing the muscles before going in and adjusting the vertebrae. Not only does this feel amazing, it is so important for the body to be able to hold the adjustment. He uses many modalities to help with pain relief and muscle relaxation. His ultrasound machine is really a miracle worker. He has also relieved me of a frozen shoulder when my doctor thought I had torn my rotator cuff and referred me to surgery. I could not even hold my cell phone, it was so painful. After five days straight of seeing Dr Nick, the pain was completely gone. He's also saved me from a severely strained lower back, which had me bedridden for two weeks. Where do I even begin?! As others said in reviews, Dr. Nick totally saved my honeymoon. I went to him after I seriously hurt my neck and could barely move..and still had 12 days left in paradise with my bride! First let me preface this by saying that I have owned and helped open numerous spas around the world and I know what is good versus what is GREAT. I was in Kona to race the Ironman 70.3 last week. Unfortunately 3 weeks before the race I sustained a neck injury that severely impacted me. I wasn't sure I could race at all since every time I'd turn my head I'd get excruciating pain that took my breath away. I saw my PT in California and did the regular PT and exercises and therapies but it didn't help. I tried therapeutic massage which felt good but didn't help. Anyway, still in pain I showed up on a Tuesday to race on the following Saturday. I could barely check into my hotel without wincing in pain. Desperate, I started looking for someone on the island who might help. while searching I came across Dr. Nick at Island Holistic Healing. It sounded good and I gave him a call. He was sympathetic to my situation and fit me into his busy schedule the very next day. It was a Hail Mary pass of sorts, What did I have to lose? I didn't lose, I WON! What he does simply cannot be described here. If you've been to a chiropractor before, what he does is WAY WAY beyond chiropractic treatment. I went in at a pain level 8 and left at a 2. We are visiting in Waikoloa and I needed to see a chiropractor for my neck, and hip and lower back, which went out just as I was leaving home and couldn't get to my regular chiro before i left. I read all of the reviews and knew I had to go to Dr. Nick. I was not disappointed!!! I couldn't imagine what he would do that could possibly take an hour. I was astounded at the comprehensive treatment I received, beginning with his very strong hands massaging my neck and back, finding exactly where my issues were. He used some very fine equipment to help loosen my muscles and tendons and connective tissues. Then he put some acupuncture needles and heat into to the spots that needed the most attention. Cold compresses followed. He used some other machines that made me feel SOOOO good, before he even attempted to adjust my hip, neck and spine, which adjusted easily after he worked on the connective tissues. I can't thank Dr. Nick enough. I am a regular chiropractic patient and I have never had a treatment that was as comprehensive and effective as his. We are regular visitors to Waikoloa and Island Holistic Healing will be on my agenda to visit EVERY time we come here, whether my spine needs an adjustment or not. Highly recommend! One of the best chiropractor I have seen. My back was thrown out of alignment while on vacation on Big Island. I was in pain and couldn't move around much. Was worried about the remaining two weeks' vacation, so asked the staff at the hotel if any recommendation on chiropractor. One of the staff called her mom and Dr. Nick was recommended. Words can't say enough, but Thank you Dr. Nick! You provided actual extensive longlasting care where all other's have failed. You're practice needs to be mirrored by all "Chiro's". Below is muscular info I do not have major disc issue. - My back issues go back to age 27 now 47, and every few times a year I get debilitating pain. - Previous Chiro's have just cracked back/neck to allow healing and not truly caring beyond that. What Dr. Nick did for me where other's have failed: - actual evaluation of pain location / movement ability - trigger pointed nerve area after ultrasound and infrared heat - focused on other back/neck - muscles/nerves using above technique - used the drill activator on all vertebra where other's have used on only two or three vertebra. - worked on back for an hour session where others see you for 5 min top. 10 days ago I woke up with muscle spasms in my back. I searched for a chiropractor in or near Waikoloa Village, thinking I'd be lucky if I found one in Kona. As good luck would have it, I found Island Holistic Healing & Dr Nick less than a 5 minute walk from where I'm staying, and as great luck would have it, all the reviews were 5 stars. I also took notice here on Yelp his board & other certifications (see photos). I texted Dr Nick late morning/early afternoon for an appointment and he texted back a time for later that same day. First, thank you for not making me wait until the next day, even though I said I would. Second, thank you for your therapies which worked wonders. The spasms were gone by the time I left your office, and the soreness was gone before the weekend was through. (I don't know about you readers here, but I'm usually sore for a couple days after a treatment, but it sure beats spasm pain!) I did go for a follow up 4 days later, which seemed like a good idea. Dr Nick explained everything fully, had the gentlest touch, and he took his time, especially for an end-of-day appointment (7pm). I've been to other chiropractors in years past, but I think his technique is by far the best, and he used a couple therapies others I've been to didn't. It's 'holistic' for a reason. In addition, allowing the relaxing background music to wash over you helps ease tension & mood. His 5 stars are fairly earned and I, too, highly recommend Dr Nick. read more
