Stepping into The Hawthorn is like waltzing into a Brontë novel, where gothic elegance meets a…read morewhisper of enchantment-and, mercifully, free parking. As an amateur tea sommelier, having savored brews in grand hotels from Paris to Singapore, I declare their "Midsomer Night" Tea; {sweet pear & honeysuckle black tea} a divine elixir, whisking me to ethereal realms. My lovely companion's milky oolong was no less a revelation; we traded cups with the conspiratorial glee of ladies at a Regency salon, each sip a sonnet. The menu, though concise, is a curated treasure trove. The morning's fresh-baked croissant-flaky as a poet's resolve, adorned with creamy brie, ripe peaches, and a daring dash of red chili flakes-rivaled Parisian patisseries and left me pondering whether I'd dined or fallen into a culinary romance. The service? As gracious as a duchess at afternoon tea. The curiosity shop, brimming with ancient tomes, olde books and beguiling candles, tempts one to linger like a heroine in a gothic tale. Open from ten in the morning to nine at night, it's a haven for dreamers. My photographs capture but a shadow of its charm, yet I wager even Lord Byron would raise a teacup to this place. Dare to visit, lest you deprive your soul of such sublime pleasures. Hours: Tuesday~ Thursday 8-6 Friday 8am ~ 9pm Saturday 10-9 Sunday 10-4 Closed Monday

My absolute favorites are a lovely cameo pin~ pendant & an antique rose gold and purple sapphire ring! I wear it 24/7! The store is set up like a bunch of mini shops, each with its own personality. Some of the displays are surprisingly modern, but they blend so beautifully with the antiques. I love anchoring my light, bright home with a gorgeous piece of furniture or an upcycled antique -- it brings a gracious, civil feeling and it's way better for the environment. Every time I walk in I honestly could get lost for hours. If you love things with real history and soul, this is your spot. Highly recommend! The people at the checkout desk are very helpful and the treasures are often a wonderful value!
