I stopped by the food truck today for a quick lunch while running errands and I'm happy I did! My smoothie bowl came out very fast & was the perfect light lunch to keep my day flowing! The girl at the window was sweet and so fast I didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes for my bowl. Absolutely will be back.

Custom açaí bowl

Run, don't walk, to island açaí!!! This is a little food truck that travels around and has divine bowls. The açaí is smooth and not icy. They have a ton of fresh toppings to choose from with sauces (honey, caramel, chocolate etc). I added granola for extra crunch and it was absolutely magical. There's 3 sizes to fit your appetite or budget. I got the bowl, biggest size. I went to Galveston Island Brewery on a Tuesday and they currently have $2 off the bowl if you get a tiki wheat beer. The truck travels, so def follow them on Facebook to ensure you know where they are! The service is great! The guys that work the truck are friendly and helpful. They offer suggestions, are patient while you review the menu, and have speedy service.

I'm not a big acai bowl person, but going to Mamaka bowls hits every time. Their menu offers a…read morevariety of flavors for those who prefer fruity/non-fruity bowls, and any of their bowls can be made into a smoothie if you want. This specific visit I tried the Espressyo Self bowl, and it was super filling with good flavors that weren't overpowering. I also appreciate how none of the bowls I've had here had that watery/icy texture that you find in lower quality bowls/smoothies. There's no AC (it's a walk-up and order type of place), but there is plenty of outdoor seating for days where the weather is nice. The parking is also a pain since their main lot is super limited, so you'll likely have to find parking and walk a little which is the same for all of the businesses in that area.

Mamaka Bowls in the Heights is a charming little spot. The space itself is small and quaint, with…read moreno indoor seating, but there are a few tables out front that make for a pleasant place to sit when the weather's nice. Parking can be a bit tricky. The tiny lot behind the house-like building is easy to miss, and the driveway isn't very visible, so keep an eye out as you approach. The menu centers around smoothie bowls, which are fresh and flavorful. They also have tater tot breakfast tacos and some clothing swag. I had the mamaka bowl and added peanut butter. It was very light and refreshing. Service was friendly and relatively quick. Would definitely come back to try more menu items.
