Beautiful elaborate looking temple. Great place of worship. The caretakers are not that nice but they do greet you. They have gatherings on sone Sundays and feasts. Must remove shoes before entering so bring something comfortable to leave at the door like slippers. You can also don't food to the temple when you visit. Perfect quiet place for chanting and relaxing. They have a peaceful courtyard and books for enlightenment. read more

I was intrigued to go and check out this establishment, However die to the pandemic it has been shut since March. It looked a little run down to be honest. However with regards to the other reviews, I would love to come back one day, once it is open again, to soak up the pleasant atmosphere as previously mentioned from, other reviewers. read more

Probably one of my favorite places in Coconut Grove, nah actually scratch that; in Miami. I've been here on multiple occasions to do a couple of photo essays on the place because I find it breathtakingly beautiful. There is something so peaceful about this place that just keeps me coming back. Their ceremony room is a beautiful white marble building, with huge open windows that let the right amount of sunlight shine in, whilst shaded by the many Banyan trees and the vegetation that dominates the Grove. The residents are the sweetest most welcoming people you'll have the pleasure of meeting in these parts of town. They have a book store that sells all kinds of incense, crystals, memorabilia and art, really amazing stuff. If you find yourself with a whole lot of nothing do on a Sunday evening and you feel curious and in the mood to experience something different, come check out their mass. It is so absolutely beautiful to see the women dancing, the men chanting, and the kids just running around feeding off the warmth and happiness. And some better news, after the ceremony they serve a huge homemade Indian feast (vegan) that is absolutely delightful. Not too long ago I read a review from Jordan N. that said that we all have/need a place to get away from 'Miami'...this is true, and the Hare Krishna Temple is my getaway. read more

"Don't ask anyone any questions!" We were warned. The Hare Krishnas are a Hindu-based 'movement' perhaps best known for its association with 'hippie culture' in the 1960s (and that infamous scene in Airplane!). Unlike most Hindus, Hare Krishnas believe in proselytizing and seeking converts. I have had little personal contact with Hare Krishnas, so when I found out they have a temple in Coconut Grove, I was interested to see what it is like. Located in a nice area of the Grove, its 'compound' has a few small buildings, that each have several apartments. The temple is in its own building. Walking from the gravelly parking lot to the temple, you will probably see a few Hare Krishnas (most, if not all, are not Indian), and they all smile and seem quite pleasant. The temple itself is a large hall and inside the main room are several representations of Krishna, a blue-skinned avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, who plays a central role in the Hindu book the Bhagavad Gita. Its patrons are mainly chanting and, at certain times, a priest will come out and say more chantings and offer prasadam, a food that is distributed after prayer (usually something like nuts or raisins). They do sell food, but we found most of it to be very bland and lacking in taste (and not spicy). Still, all proceeds support the temple and its devotees. Overall, a nice, unique experience in a surprising location. Note: They used to do a farmer's market in the Grove, but I'm not sure if they do anymore though. read more

I love this place! It's truly awe inspiring. Having been raised irreligiously, when I found out one of my favorite musicians, George Harrison, was an ISKCON devotee, I became curious and visited during their Sunday afternoon open house at 4. The temple building is spacious and inviting. The statues of the various deities send out a peaceful and comforting vibe. Dancing, singing and chanting are how ISKCON congregations express their devotion together. It's a lively atmosphere which is touching in it's sincerity. Also on the property is a very nice gift shop. They sell Indian apparel, incense, prayer beads, books, and statues. It's a great place to pick up authentic eastern religious supplies which are of very fine quality (and very modestly priced!) Lastly there is a charming open air vegetarian restaurant there too. It has delicious Indian cuisine which is a palatable change from western fast food fare. On the topic of food, free meals are distributed to guests and devotees alike. The founder of ISKCON always said that no one should go hungry within 10 miles of a temple. At this center they live up to this standard well. This temple is great for the spiritual seeker and the curious alike. Whether you plan on just checking it out or if you feel like this temple could be your new spiritual home, either way it's a garunteed fact that you will be welcomed as an honored guest regardless! read more

I have the grace to serve the Deities (Sri Sri Vrajabihari) at this Miami ISKCON mandir. I originally met the founder/acarya of this religious Order in Greenwich Village, NYC, when I was a 17 yr. old. He looked at me, and told me "Chant Hare Krsna". Someone gave me a leaflet, I cut out his picture and framed it...something about this little man who smelled like sandalwood and sainthood....40 yrs later after this meeting I found myself becoming a pujari and serving the Deities, not only chanting Hare Krsna. I recommend a visit to our Temple to treat yourself to the breathtaking beauty of the Deities and how majestically They are dressed. Our marble structures were carved by descendants of the artisans of the Taj Mahal. If you want all noise, drumming, and high energy, come to Sunday feast at 6:30pm and dance with the congregation!
