This temple proves that "If you build it, they will come." There are actually two Sai Babas, with the more well known one (in the US, at least) being Sathya Sai Baba, a 'spiritual guru' type who has a surprisingly strong following even among Latinos here in Miami (the pictures of him usually show him with an afro and red/orange robe). He is also considered by some the reincarnation of the original Sai Baba (of Shirdi), who is a Hindu saint. This temple is devoted to the original Sai Baba. While his following is small by Hindu standards (with a billion plus Hindus worldwide, 'small' could be a few million though), the quick growth of this temple shows that there is enough followers locally to justify its existence. Located in one of Doral's many nondescript warehouse areas (Layali is within walking distance), the only sign you are greeted with asks you to remove your shoes and wash your hands. To the right of the door is a small spigot to do just that. Inside, a stage with a large, decorated Sai Baba idol is buttressed by some smaller idols and bright lights that slowly spin. Next to the stage is 3 carpeted sitting areas (one for men, one for women, and one for 'bhajans,' which is for people who will be singing devotional songs). It is pretty simple. The Indian couple who run it are very pleasant and are sometimes singing bhajans. There is no chitchat; people come and pray and then leave. You will probably not gain much insight into Sai Baba, but It is quite peaceful and meditative. read more

I had been to the Saibaba temple in Doral on Jan 1st 2011. The idol of baba is very lively and the mandir has a very peaceful environment. I was so happy to find such a place in Miami as we were there for a vacation. But unfortunately my happiness was just momentary.We went to the temple along with my one year old baby. I wanted to specifically write this review to bring up to the notice of Baba temple management, the way the volunteer that evening behaved. Here is what that happened. I wanted to touch Baba's feet and as I had my baby, her toy and my wallet in both hands, I just kept the toy on the mandap there and immediately the volunteer pounced on me very rudely shouting to remove the toy. I apologised and removed the toy. In the meanwhile I just noticed that I forgot to remove my baby's shoe and I immediately went out, took her shoes off and came inside. My baby is just one year old and I was carrying her all the time. She did not walk inside the temple. I wanted to make my baby's head touch baba's feet and with this intention, I placed my baby on the mandap and again this volunteer came screaming as if I did something terribly wrong and WITH NO ABSOLUTE CONSIDERATION FOR A SMALL BABY, he just did not let my baby near baba's feet. As baba's followers, from his "sai charitha" we all know how much baba loves kids and also how much baba always tells that all his devotees must be allowed to worship him freely the way they want. I was born and brought up in India and I totally understand the principles and beliefs to be followed in the temple and I had no intention to violate any of them. But I am very deeply hurt by the incident as I am a strong follower of baba's preachings and his very own temple is run by people not being able to understand his ideologies.
