You'll have to keep walking to the stop nearest the corner with Albion Road if you're heading into town on the 73 or catching the 393 towards Highbury, Holloway Road and Camden. The newsagents itself is pretty standard, with all the usual magazines, newspapers, sweets, chocolate, crisps and drinks. And they always seem pretty friendly when they serve you.

Visits often mean negotiating with other customers to reach the bit you want! (It's usually busy). That counts especially if you want to get into the far aisle, which is a tight squeeze past anyone getting served! They stock the usual newspapers, magazines, sweets, crisps and drinks, but also all sorts of other stuff. Basic groceries like biscuits, cartons of juice, washing powder, batteries, video tapes. Also last minute gifts: toys and beard/head trimmers and (at the appropriate time of year) Easter eggs and stuff for mothers day. The back aisle holds cards and a good range of envelopes. It's also the local place for charging Oysters, and getting lottery tickets. Very useful shop and the sort of place you want to support!

Chris is the owner and manager, and he makes a damn good samosa. In fact, the samosas are the main attraction for me (and if you can get them when they're hot, they taste twice as good so buy double!). There's the usual selection of newspapers and magazines, cold drinks and sweets, plus a selection of wines. If you go in regularly, Chris will get to know you and you get a bit of local chat. The black cat is quite friendly too!

It doesn't stock my preferred drinks in Coke Zero or Red Bull sugar free, but it does stock Fishermans friends, and that make it a great shop in my eyes. You know that you are becoming a little localised when the shop keeper says That's OK, you can drop in the 20p later, I know you. And well that just gives you a warm feeling all over.
