Grilled brandy chicken with mushroom sauce

Great pub and delicious food. Had grilled brandy chicken with yummy creamy mushroom sauce. My husband had the traditional fish and chips but without the chips and more salad. Got ourselves beer and shandy to finish our dinner. The food was just awesome, having to eat in a classic pub ambience.

    Fish and chips lunch special

I really like the Irish Rover. It always makes me feel at home, being a traditional Irish set up, complete with live music on Sunday's as well. They recently introduced a lunch menu! It's a bit sparse so I've only ordered the fish and chips during the two times that I've been in since this addition. It's a huge plate. Definitely the largest piece of fish I've ever gotten in a fish and chips meal and tons of fries. During the evening, they have a feta dip on their menu that is outta this world good. I always ask for no olives and they're happy to do so. On the weekends, they have a full Irish breakfast available for brunch. So yummy and kid friendly. They have a high chair! I've been bringing the wee one with me since he was about 5 mo old, both for brunch and for dinner. I guess you're not truly Irish unless you've brought the babe to a bar. The cooking is great, the beer is delicious, the people are friendly and those will all have me coming back again :-)

Possibly the best Irish pub I've been in outside of Ireland. As the host Aiden says, It's 60 square metres of Dublin in Hamburg. Great Guinness, great food, live music, a quiz and even live theatre it's all done to a very high standard by friendly staff. I've had a lot of fun there and you will too. Slainté.

I asked about the other beer available and then decided that it was either Kilkenny or Guinness.

Unfortunately the experience was a disappointment. My uncle went up to ask the bartender about the changes that were made to the pub and was rudely reprimanded for not waiting at the door. I have never dealt with anything like this before, especially at an Irish pub where it's usually a friendly environment. It was upsetting enough for me leave right there and to also leave this review. I usually try to see the light in the situation but the way in which the bar tender spoke to my uncle upset me to the point to immediately leave. I would never return to this bar and this definitely isn't an Irish pub

Kitchen service stopped a bit before ten. The wait staff was extremely friendly (saw me coming in, asked what I was here to watch, explained when the games were going to be flipped on and where). The bar selection and prices are pretty standard for Hamburg. The actual venue is below the street level, and the interior is dark but pretty warm at the same time. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a place to watch sporting events.

This pub definitely looks like the kind of tourist trap place you'd always avoid as a Brit abroad…read more However, I've accidentally been here about 3 times now in the day (football) and the middle of the night (too drunk to know better) and it's actually really good! This place is legend and folklore if you are a Fulham supporter who made the trip away to Hamburg…read morefor our first game on the European mainland for some 15 years back in 1998. A few fans discovered this tourist trap beside 'the naughty street' in daylight and it became for some ungodly reason the place to be in town prior to the game. I remember wanting to go elsewhere. A small, brickie friendly pub, it was like being in Auf Wierherisen Pet with English workmen drinking after a day of building, plastering, plying and doing what sparkies do. English beers on tap, in bottles included the infamous bottle of dog, Newcastle Brown. As a 14 year old, I have to admit I thought the place was pretty crap, as it is small, cramped, dirty, slightly dusty and dark but I was getting drunk and the company I was keeping of other, older Fulham supporters were funny. After the game (which we won vs Hamburg SV, 2-0) Captain Morgan (Football player Simon, not he of dark rum and piracy fame) asked manager Kevin Keegan if he could let let his hair down with a couple of the lads seeing as it is a different country. On their walk they were spotted in their sparkling new tracksuits and dragged into the London pub where around 100 Fulham fans were celebrating our preseason victory. I can't really say more about what went on here, but I am sure this place has never and will never see a night like it again. The reeperbahn is one hell of a place, but lets just say that Morgan and the boys made it back for breakfast where they were praised for being 'so responsible and only having one drink last night'. Kevin 'King Kev' Keegan thought that the squad had come back as promised before the witching hour and had a full nights sleep before getting up early, slipping the team tracksuit on and getting downstairs for breakfast before riding the coach home. I am not going to tell him that they were in the London pub with the fans till 6am!!! Although, he might read it on Qype now!!!
