Here's the situation. You're 20-30 minutes outside of Paris, perhaps visiting Eurosport, and too lazy or exhausted to head into Paris for a legitimate meal. You opt for Irish Cafe.
Irish Times is a solid three star restaurant. My rationale is simple. You are going to an Irish pub in the outskirts of Paris. The food is not bad or good; it is tolerable. That is exactly what Irish Cafe is for-- a place of convenience, not expectations. Additionally, the service is super speedy, which is not the norm for Euro-dining. But as an American I enjoy the speed after a long day of working.
The French fries are "steak style" and good, especially with some of the horseradish mustard. I ordered the three cheese salad for a main, which is basically three slabs of cheese atop a bed of iceberg lettuce with a white weirdly-good dressing. I really liked the bleu cheese on some of the baguette. My coworkers ordered the charcuterie. It was a sad excuse for charcuterie with some slices of ham on a plate topped with a dollop of pate. Luckily I'm a vegetarian and didn't have to try any of it. ;)
The drink prices are reasonable.
Service is FAST.
Overall I think Irish Cafe exists for a specific dining purpose and all my expectations were met- edible food, quick service, televisions, reasonably priced drinks, and friendly staff. Honestly I could not ask for much else out of my visit. read more
