I should know about the quality of education and attention that the tutors give to the students here at Tutoring Club, since I used to also tutor here (so this review might actually be a bit partial towards them). The system in place at Tutoring Club first assesses the current skill level of the student, and then they customize a schedule that will bring the student up to the necessary skill level. They have work books and work sheets that will really test the thinking capabilities of the student. Tutoring Club offers its services for Math, Writing and Reading, but students can also avail of private tutoring called "Tutor Up". This is a more customized service that will really cater to the student's needs, whether it's with science homework or writing and essay for English class. Not only do they handle elementary and high school students, but during the summer, pre-school students also come in and are taught how to speak and read English, and also practice basic Mathematics. I really enjoyed my time tutoring at this place, because of the quality of service they give to the students. I'm sure that each branch will have their own specialty, but Tutoring Club Greenhills will always be the benchmark for quality tutors.

UP Diliman's College of Arts and Letters is where some of the most beautiful written works I've…read moreseen are created. PROS: I love their library because it's one of the places in UP that's air conditioned. The books themselves are good literature too, of course. But I'm really there for the air conditioning; Compared to the rest of the University's old buildings, CAL's is fairly new and you can see it in their modern architecture and design; The best thing about a college of writers and poets is the graffiti and posters on the bulletin boards; It's right next to the Faculty Center (FC) so you could easily consult with most GE professors. It's also usually a venue for art installations and galleries. CONS: It's right beside Katag, the canteen at the basement of FC. But you could find it pretty crowded during lunch hours and it can get pretty hot and stuffy inside. TL;DR: Get your artsy fix just by being in CAL, whether that be for a class or just general tambay.

It's my alma matter too, so shout-out to everyone who always had to walk by the urine-smelling back side of this gargantuan mall just to get to our gates. We all know how it feels, even the trike drivers. PROS: It's a science high school, so there's an extra focus on the math, science, and technology curriculum. If your kid's strengths lean on these particular fields, and you'd like free tuition (plus the P500.00 or so plus in fees) for the next few years, then give Kisay a try; Academics are given serious focus on this school. Unlike the regular curriculum, students need to maintain an average of 85 on all subjects to stay in Kisay, so you know everyone focuses on their studies. Plus, a myriad of extra-curricular activities help develop well-roundedness and leadership skills. CONS: There's an entrance exam that a prospective Xientian (Yup. That's what we call ourselves.) has to pass in order to gain a slot in this school. And that competition is fierce. We're talking about kids who took Pisay exams too, plus the now-majority of students coming from big, rich schools who are backed up with every tutorial and review center their young 12-year-old minds can take. Talk about "needy" and "underprivileged;" Being a government-run school, the issues of administrative corruption and faulty facilities are predominant, even for a science high school. TL;DR: In the end, it's still a public school. But with the help of PTA and alumni donations, and a sincerely eager learning atmosphere from the faculty and students, Kisay still somehow fares well.

Because of this mentality, I decided to do research on the different review centers that they had in Manila and I stumbled upon LSC. LSC is said to provide the most comprehensive and highest quality tutorials and review services to incoming college students and they were one of the cheapest review centers during that time. I was able to meet the requirements to avail of the discount. I applied with five of my friends so I only had to pay 8,000 pesos for the review services and the complementary books. The venue for the tutorial classes were really comfortable. It was big enough to accommodate all of the students and the class room was air conditioned. The instructors were also very efficient and helpful and they would often give us tips on how we should answer our CETs.

I studied in another country for one year of college, but since I was in an international school, there was some overlapping of curriculum, and when I came back to the Philippines I wasn't delayed or anything. I still missed a lot of lessons though, especially the ones in Filipino and Social Studies, so I chose to enroll in a review center over the summer with my brother. I remember the base rate for the package we availed of being P10,000, but since we enrolled with a bunch of friends it was brought down to around P8,000 I think. Our lessons were 5 afternoons a week, for 4 hours, and I really learned a lot! The instructors were helpful and taught well, and they gave tests at the end of every session so we would know where to focus our studies on. The books you get from enrolling are helpful by themselves, too.

We explored the iconic areas, like the famous UP Oblation and the scenic Sunken Garden, which added to the charm of the visit. Entering, what will welcome you is a very classy lit narrow stairway leading to the actual school, which is actually....surprisingly small. It wasn't a bad thing. In fact, I gotta hand it to them for keeping it small. It's Economical, since the school only accepts a few students at one time. They have a lot of packages ranging in levels, from basic to advanced modeling, and it covers a lot of aspects about the industry. You can say, it will teach pretty much everything you'd need to know to start out on those runway or commercial modelling career. I never got to enroll here because it was pretty expensive, and beyond my budget. I chose another school in fact, because I think the course they offered fit my needs more than Master's. But the modeling direction of this school's graduates is much more for ones who dream to become the next big name in the industry. Meanwhile, I just wanted to learn about modeling so I can direct my own models. Heh.

A Lifelong Foundation of Excellence at the FIRST Montessori school in Las Piñas City: Our Lady of…read morePilar Montessori Center As a lifelong student of OLPMC, having attended from 1994 all the way through 4th Year High School (graduating around 2007. 13 years of my life!), I can wholeheartedly attest to the exceptional education and nurturing environment this school provides. My journey at OLPMC shaped me in countless positive ways; it truly made me who I am today. From the very beginning in the Montessori Casa program, their individualized approach and hands-on learning ignited my genuine curiosity and love for exploration. My dedicated teachers in those early years fostered my independence and a strong sense of self. This foundation continued to build throughout my elementary years, where the Montessori method encouraged my critical thinking and a deeper understanding of concepts, rather than just memorization. Moving into the high school years, OLPMC maintained its commitment to academic excellence while also fostering a supportive community. I particularly appreciated all the fun and unforgettable programs and the engaging Science classes in our laboratory. My teachers, were not only knowledgeable but also genuinely invested in our success. They created a learning environment where questions were encouraged and individual growth was nurtured. Beyond academics, OLPMC offered opportunities for holistic development. I remember participating in activities like sabayang pagbigkas, doxology, cheering, dancing, art contest, LAPPRISA, and always being part of our annual school play which helped me develop my confidence, public speaking skills and teamwork abilities. This school also instilled important values such as respect, responsibility, and a strong sense of community. Having spent my entire academic life at OLPMC, I witnessed firsthand the school's consistent dedication to providing quality education and a caring atmosphere. It truly felt like a second home, and the friendships and lessons I learned there have stayed with me long after graduation. I worked at WellsFargo, and now as a QA Officer for one of the best non-bank lenders in Australia: Pepper Money, and I owe a significant part of my success to the strong foundation laid by my parents, my dedicated teachers, and the education I received at OLPMC. It's not just me; many of my batchmates have gone on to achieve great things. They are now successful professionals, including international flight attendants, doctors at Asian Hospital, accomplished businessmen/owners, talented musician, magazine chief editor, book author, respected lawyers, journalists, event host, art director and passionate teachers. Many have also built successful lives and careers abroad. My own family is a testament to the quality of education at OLPMC, as all four of us (me and my 3 brothers) are graduates of this institution, with one of my brothers now working as a successful electrical engineer in Singapore. The school uniform, teachers, facilities have changed but my belief in their early years program was the same. It was strong that I enrolled my son in Casa. Despite his time being shortened by the pandemic, his experience was incredibly positive. We witnessed firsthand the continued excellence of their Montessori approach: patient, nurturing teachers in a stimulating environment fostered his development and love for learning through individualized attention. This positive experience as a parent has only solidified my deep trust in the strong foundation OLPMC provides. For parents in Las Piñas looking for a school that provides a strong Montessori foundation in the early years and continues to offer excellent academic and personal development, I wholeheartedly recommend OLPMC. It's more than just a school; it's a community that fosters lifelong learning and growth, and it truly prepares you for a successful future - a legacy I'm now seeing continue with my own child.
