I should know about the quality of education and attention that the tutors give to the students here at Tutoring Club, since I used to also tutor here (so this review might actually be a bit partial towards them). The system in place at Tutoring Club first assesses the current skill level of the student, and then they customize a schedule that will bring the student up to the necessary skill level. They have work books and work sheets that will really test the thinking capabilities of the student. Tutoring Club offers its services for Math, Writing and Reading, but students can also avail of private tutoring called "Tutor Up". This is a more customized service that will really cater to the student's needs, whether it's with science homework or writing and essay for English class. Not only do they handle elementary and high school students, but during the summer, pre-school students also come in and are taught how to speak and read English, and also practice basic Mathematics. I really enjoyed my time tutoring at this place, because of the quality of service they give to the students. I'm sure that each branch will have their own specialty, but Tutoring Club Greenhills will always be the benchmark for quality tutors.

Seriously. I have to admit, there were days when I went to classes just to have fun with friends and eat out afterwards, but for the most part I know that I must have picked up something and gotten it right. I've tried a bunch of tutors and nothing seemed to work, it was either the teacher was too busy, or he/she indulged my laziness. It was only when I decided to enroll in ACTS that I realized the point of going to tutor. Since I didn't listen much in school, I relied on the experts of the tutorial center to explain to me, in understandable terms, whatever my physics and trigonometry teachers couldn't. In fact, they were so good, I ended up enjoying my trips to tutor and showing off my brand knew know-how whenever I got to school the next day.

I just took their refresher course which was much much cheaper at only Php 6,000.00. I think it was around 5-8 sessions of refresher review classes. What we did basically was we did a rehash of what they taught during the summer review. Fortunately, all the topics they covered was also discussed by my high school teachers. The instructors were also very keen on asking and answering questions. I also bought their review booklets for me to review at home. I'd say I got value for my money. And I also passed the entrance exams.

I still missed a lot of lessons though, especially the ones in Filipino and Social Studies, so I chose to enroll in a review center over the summer with my brother. I remember the base rate for the package we availed of being P10,000, but since we enrolled with a bunch of friends it was brought down to around P8,000 I think. Our lessons were 5 afternoons a week, for 4 hours, and I really learned a lot! The instructors were helpful and taught well, and they gave tests at the end of every session so we would know where to focus our studies on. The books you get from enrolling are helpful by themselves, too.

Because of this mentality, I decided to do research on the different review centers that they had in Manila and I stumbled upon LSC. LSC is said to provide the most comprehensive and highest quality tutorials and review services to incoming college students and they were one of the cheapest review centers during that time. I was able to meet the requirements to avail of the discount. I applied with five of my friends so I only had to pay 8,000 pesos for the review services and the complementary books. The venue for the tutorial classes were really comfortable. It was big enough to accommodate all of the students and the class room was air conditioned. The instructors were also very efficient and helpful and they would often give us tips on how we should answer our CETs.

The schedule I chose was two weekday afternoons, and a whole day Saturday class. I found myself becoming lazier and lazier halfway through the review sessions, but the classes were informative and helpful. I feel demotivated sometimes when I score low on check-up quizzes, but I'm thinking it's normal to feel dumb at review centers. I love the facility, actually. It's clean and chilly, and they supply you with booklets to help you throughout your review. It's also within proximity to restaurants and a Ministop. They also make you take an exam at the end, and the results are given to you maybe weeks after. The teachers though aren't so amiable and approachable. They can be quite intimidating and demotivating. They say review centers don't help, but I think it helped me somewhat. I was able to refresh my memory of old science topics, afterall!
