Saran Rosner was recommended to me after an initial MRI reports showed I had hydrocephalus (water…read morein the brain). Rosner recommended immediate surgery with a shunt install as this can be very dangerous. Taking his advice we did the surgery next day and a few weeks later the headaches started returning. Rosner now recommended a craniotomy because he said my brain looked to be touching the skull and this was the next best step to remove some of the skull in the back of my head. I asked for a copy of the MRI report for a 2nd opinion by Dr Jafaar. I was given the non contrast copy, not being aware there is a difference. Jafaar was upset about that because after only 2 mins he believed there was a tumor yet he needed the contrast MRI report to be certain. I brought this idea forward to Rosner that this may be a tumor yet he shot it down immediately. Who am I to question a DR with such remarkable experience and who would want to believe they had a tumor? So I trusted him and went forward with the craniotomy. It was after this surgery that Rosner decided to do a biopsy which indeed turned out positive for a tumor and now need intensive treatment for brain cancer. Rosner stated this is out of his field and recommended I go to either Sloan Kettering or Westchester Medical. Being comfortable with the team at Westchester Medical and for location convenience I eventually went ahead with this team and Dr Mohan preformed my 3rd brain surgery as a tumor removal. After my surgery, I had an issue that I would consistently vomit uncontrollably likely due to the area in the brain that was operated on. I had similar issues with my previous surgeries with Rosner and he had come up with a drug mix that really helped control the vomiting. My Dr's asked me to call Rosner to look through my records and recommend to them that same mix. Rosner was so offended that I did not tell him that I was having a 3rd surgery (him being the one that sent me away) because he wanted to be the surgeon for that operation and he hung up in my face. Here I am 3 days after brain surgery suffering and I was in complete disbelief that he could be so heartless. After Rosner found this out, his office continuously tried to bill me $1300 out of nowhere. I was so offended by his tactics my family and I were committed to never paying him another cent. Later I find out that he tried to bill the insurance company for a tumor removal which I was very happy to see that they denied him and didn't pay him a dime because that surgery has already been claimed by Mohan. These actions have completely made me doubt even the first two surgeries he performed on me. I can't say whether or not they were needed for sure, maybe they were but it seems very clear to me that he wanted to take advantage of the surgeries before telling me my real diagnosis so that he can earn a good profit. Otherwise he was very careless and did two surgeries on me without even a second look even after I mentioned another DR suggested it could be a tumor, so both scenarios are just terrible on his part. Aside from all of that there is no excuse to hanging up on a patient who is in dire need asking for help just because you are upset you didn't get to do the surgery and bill the insurance $75k+. My family was so upset by his actions and everyone we spoke to said to sue this jerk but honestly what can we really do at this point and while going through such an intensive and long radiation and chemo treatment who really wants to go through even more agony? It's now been a few years later and I am cancer free and very grateful for my life I have thanks to the special care from Dr Mohan, Dr Jubinski and their team. Rosner seems to be a great surgeon and I am not doubting that but everything else he stands for ethically and morally is to be put into serious question. He should be investigated and if he were, my assumption is that he would soon after have his license revoked.

Between the reception area, nurses , doctors and even billing. I have recommended many people and never have I heard a complaint . I don't know maybe its that people have to realize that doctors and the staff are just like us. Human !! If you are uncomfortable find another doctor don't go through with the procedure , however maybe you should treat people the way you want to be treated with respect.

I wanted to write my review after the full procedure of seeing another orthopedist was done…read more I had an unsatisfying experience with HVBJ. My appointment was made after a shoulder dislocation. The doctor created stress and concern from the doubts behind what they thought the problems were. I was not even evaluated, and my appointment lasted less than 15 minutes. After being rushed into receiving an mri, it seemed to be my problem after waiting a week for its authorization according to the doctor. My new orthopedist told me everything in my MRI was standard, and non surgical treatment was required. HBVJ told me I would need surgery after a ten minute visit, and then tried doubling down on it after seeing the results of the mri. I understand there are difference in opinions amongst doctors. My frustration is how the doctor went about handling my situation. It seemed the doctor acted vindictive once questions began to be asked, and came off as unprofessional. I would not feel comfortable coming back.

I talked to doctors 2 times and a social worker once and on all 3 occasions they either were thoroughly confused or they just did not care about providing care and instead just lied to me. Of particular note was a Dr. Asmin or Asmen (I might be a little off on his name). He called me to report on the condition of my 80 year old mother after a painful fall. It's wonderful that he called, and if anything he said was honest I would be writing a positive review here. Instead he swore up and down that my mother must been out of her senses when she complained about the medical staff at night moved her injured legs with complete disregard for her immense pain. The doctor promised me that not only was my mother not in pain but that she was given morphine twice. He stated the exact times the medication was given as if he was double-checking to be safe. When I arrived at the hospital I double checked with the nurses, they confirmed that no pain medications were given. I called the doctor back with the nurse at my side, and the doctor said, "honestly, your mother isn't even my patient." Mind you, he had called me, unsolicited, to inform me of how well she was being treated, when the exact opposite was true. Your hospital is pretty, but I would never trust it in a real emergency. If you have family that ends up here, know that it's on you to verify the honesty of everything the staff claims. Be safe and verify everything. 3 lies in a row from doctors isn't an error, it's a pattern showing lack of care, sloppliness, and true incompetence.
