Occasion: Visiting my daughter and can't resist a European style market…read more I really wanted to like this store. It was full of interesting products that looked very diverse and decently priced. So why only one star? I am a disabled person who has a service dog to help me. As soon as we walked in the door, the woman who owns the shop fought her way through the crowd to get to me and demanded to see my dog's registration papers to prove she was a service dog. Oh, boy... I politely explained to her that registration is not a thing for service dogs and shared with her the 2 legal questions that businesses are authorized to ask dog handlers, and volunteered my responses. She insisted that she knows better and that there is a registry for service dogs and she will need to see Piper's registration to allow us to remain in her store. She even went so far as to tell me she'll call the police and have them tell me there is a registry for service dogs. I let her know that's not necessary I'll find and correct the police if they're incorrectly stating ADA requirements. (this happens more often than you might imagine.) I confirmed with her the location of the police in WSM and went to find one. I did get her to accept my ADA card though, so that's progress. After the lady harassed me about Piper, I didn't have much of an appetite for her wares. We left feeling trampled on and violated. Note: I did seek out the officer. Not only did the officer understand ADA requirements, he offered to go with me to correct the woman. I told him that I would never patronize her store now so I'm not interested in accompanying him, but I appreciate his effort to prevent her from discriminating against the next dog handler that enters the premises. He chased me down in a crowded market later to tell me that he'd had a conversation with the woman and she now understands ADA law. Would I recommend? not if you're disabled Would I return? not on your life Service Dog Grade: F. Denied access and required police correction. I have never filed a complaint re: ADA before today:(

Not only do they have freshly made deli dishes, they carry so much delicious varieties in European cuisine foods. Whether it's in a can, frozen, or fresh, it's all been very good. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I absolutely love this place. I may be biased as a Ukrainian, but I love this food especially when missing being home, this is as close to home cooking that I found. If you're reluctant to come, at least come and try their foods in their deli section. Try the stuffed cabbage rolls, the pilaf with lamb, some cabbage salad. And get a couple slices of varieties of their cakes. You will not be disappointed, it is just so so good!

Yeleseyevsky Deli is a well-loved Russian/European store in Mayfield Heights. The store's name is…read morereverence to an ornate and grand Yeleseyevsky Store in Moscow. Yeleseyevsky Deli is my favorite local Russian store. I have been visiting this store for years. I always highly recommend it! Layout/Assortment: The store recently moved to a new, updated location. It is well lit, spacious, tidy, and well organized. The store departments are similar to what you would expect at a grocery store. Dairy, seafood, baked goods, produce, frozen foods, canned goods, prepared foods, vitamins, souvenirs, and wine categories can be found here. This store has more expansive inventory than other similar stores in the area. Products originate from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, and other parts of the world. All products are clearly labeled with the original language and English ingredient lists which makes the shopping experience less intimidating for a newbie. Recommended buys: If you're Russian, you'll be pleasantly surprised and nostalgic about everything. Kvas bread drink in the fridges, Olivie salad in the deli, Alenka chocolate at checkout, Russian greeting cards for every occasion, and the list goes on. If you're looking to explore Russian and European cuisine, I recommend trying Doktorskaya bologna (slightly smokey and flavorful), Belochka chocolate waffle cake (bold chocolate flavor), Ivan Chai (firewood tea with campfire taste), and Siberian pelmeni (so tasty). Feeling more adventurous? Try Birchtree juice, caviar, vodka-filled chocolates, frozen seaberry, Siberian pinecone jam, and oak broom for your next banya (sauna) visit. Service: The service is friendly especially if you're a regular. The store employees are bilingual - Russian and English. The checkout process is very expeditious. Savings: The store offers - "buy more, save more." Your receipt will be stamped with a coupon at checkout when you meet certain purchase threshold. Don't forget to grab free Russian newspapers on the shelves next to the entrance! They contain information about local events and businesses. Parking: Large parking lot is available in the front and the back of the store. Parking is very convenient. This store is suitable for routine grocery shopping and exploring new global foods. It's also a great destination if you're looking for a gift - greeting cards and boxed chocolates available. Or if you're looking to host a tea party - plenty of tasty sweets. I highly recommend visiting this store!
