A race course is more or less a race course to me as I don't spend much time watching animals run around tracks, but I was quite impressed with Ipswich Turf Club when I went there recently to watch a friend's horse race. Unlike the Doomben and Eagle Farm race courses that are surrounded by suburbia, Ipswich Turf Club has a pocket of bush around it, so you really feel like you're out of the city. Not being a major race that I went to, it was quite a nice, relaxing way to spend the afternoon, and as I said, it's good to get out of Brisbane sometimes, even if just going to Ipswich. read more
