Release your inner child. Take a breath of nostalgia…read more These arcade places still exist. In the corner of the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre food court, you'll see Fastplay. Complete with tickets for rewards in every game in this small room. There is Time Cop, Air Hockey, Basketball, all your childhood jammed into this tiny little room. Loud music, sweaty school kids, dodgy little rubber toys you get after spending a gazillion dollars there. It's arcade at it's best. More for the teen in you, but there is a game in here for everyone (Daytona!!!!!)... ah back in the day. This was the place to go on a teenage date. Who knows how long this is going to last until the wifi computer games will it out of existence, so make sure you get your arcade on at Fastplay before the time runs out.

I have a soft spot for Fastplay Game Centre since it was the arcade centre I would go to as growing up in the western suburbs. This arcade game centre is no-where near as large as the ones in the city and larger shopping centres, but it does the trick. The 'Dance Dance revolution' type of game is always popular and there are a few 'Wack-a-Mole' and 'pin-ball' games as well as the ever-popular photo-booth. On the weekends, you will find a bunch of kids running in and out of the place, but the occasional will adults come here too. Playing a couple of games at the Fastplay will not burn a hole in your pocket so why not pop by and let you inner game-nerd come out?

Most arcades don't have dodgem cars, 30 player laser skirmish, an 18 hole mini golf course or two mini bowling alleys. There were also many arcade machines that I have never seen elsewhere before, which is a nice change from most arcades all having the same games as one another. Games that I enjoyed playing included Time Crisis 5, Mario Kart Arcade and OutRun 2 SP. I will definitely visit this Timezone again in the future, and try some more of their arcade machines. I highly recommend giving them a visit if you enjoy a good arcade game or are looking to have a fun day out with some friends. It is easy to spend a lot of money here, so I recommend considering one of their combo packages, which appear to be good value for money.

So at the time of writing this review, you could play AC/CD Luci (Limited Edition), Start Trek LE and Pro, Mustang LE and Pro, Iron Man VAULT, and the very latest The Walking Dead pinball. If you are lucky enough to get in when a machine is new, there is nothing quite like the feel of a BNIB machine. But as time progresses (or due to the popularity of the machine) they show their age pretty quickly. The owner is usually pretty good with fixing them.

Three themes based on storylines involving Brisbane include clues and codes to crack in order to unlock padlocks with the next piece of the puzzle. But you only have an hour to do it, and may be going head-to-head with another team. I loved the historical aspect and it was such a rush without leaving the group of us murderous toward each other. I'm interested to see how my partner and I would work together, so I've already booked us in for another room this weekend. The hosts are also lovely and accommodating, and clearly have a passion for historical Brisbane as well as the puzzle room genre. Escape Room is a must try!

We did the barber shop and it was challenging but so much fun. Everyone's strengths were contributed for solving the crime and it really makes you think outside the box. The guy who works there, Stephen was very helpful and professional getting right into the spirit of the game - which got everyone else charged and ready!! There's a real team player ethos about the tasks which is rewarded afterward :) The facilities are top notch too. Seriously this is an amazing activity that will prove a successful recipe for a cracking night out!! Expect the unexpected!! Happy solving!!
