We had a terrible experience with Eureka lockers quality. We go through a local farmer to get a…read morequarter to half beef each year. We have had several other lockers process and the results have always been fantastic. In contrast, Eureka lockers quality could not have been worse! Upon thawing steaks, ground, roasts, etc over 50% of the meat was discolored and smelled bad. Even the day we picked it all up, I remember it smelling so bad in there that I couldn't wait to get out. Others from the same processing dates had the same problem, and for months we attempted to resolve this issue with Eureka Locker. Eureka completely wrote us off, communication severely lacked, and at the end of all this, we never got a resolution from them. We will never use them again, and definitely recommend choosing a different processor in the area.

We've been looking for a place to get steaks since Thrushwoods in Galesburg shutdown to the public. We got two ribeyes and two New York strips and grilled them that night. Very reasonably priced and delicious! We also bought some jalapeño beef sticks and they had the perfect amount of kick that allowed you to enjoy the beef flavors too. Brock also told us about their huge variety of brats and sent us home with the maple and a package of pork patties to sample. We haven't had those yet but will fire up the grill the next chance we get. We'll definitely make the drive out from Oak Run for steaks and meats again as we enjoyed the beautiful homes and various establishments for adult beverages Elmwood has to offer. Thanks again Brock for making our first impression a memorable one.

The fresh seafood at Dixon's is just fine--it's probably the best you'll find in the Peoria…read morearea--but the seafood salad dips and spreads are absolutely swoonworthy. I was recently in over the Thanksgiving holiday, and they had a platter of samplers for almost every variety by their door. I love the sweet Crab and Chutney spread, the super savory Bacon Ranch Crab dip, the chunky Cheesy Crab Spread, the smoother and more mild Clam Dip, and the Smoked Fish Spread. Seriously, you can't go wrong here. The Crab and Spinach Dip was one I hadn't tried before, and it was delicious as well. But of course, my favorite (with the Crab & Chutney as a close second) is the perennial favorite Jim's Holiday Spread. The cream cheese and relish in this make it impossible to stop eating, and the sweetness is just perfect. I wish their online store had reasonable shipping costs so I can fly this across the country to me Los Angeles, where I am sadly without it for 51 weeks out of the year. I have yet to find a local equivalent, so I'll continue to pine for Dixon's spreads until the next holiday season.

When I first walked in, I wasn't greeted or acknowledged by anyone. I stood at the counter for a couple of minutes while an employee stood chatting and laughing with another staff member. I had to wave just to get their attention, and even then, they acted like I was bothering them. I asked about the difference between wild-caught and farm-raised salmon, and the worker (i was told his name was cooper) responded with an eye-roll and said, "It's just fish, lady." Not only was that rude, but also completely unhelpful. He then pointed vaguely towards one of the displays and said something like, "Whatever's there is probably wild," with no clear labeling or explanation. When I asked him to weigh some fillets, he handled them with bare hands, even though there where gloves visible. That alone was enough to make me second-guess the store's hygiene standards. Between the lack of professionalism and the poor customer service, I won't be returning. If you choose to shop here, check everything carefully--especially if Cooper is the one helping you.
