When I pulled up their front porch was filled with the most delightful array of gifts. I started out Christmas shopping but there were so many things I wanted for myself too. I ended up purchasing several items at a steep discount including a Vera Bradley straw hat for only $5, gorgeous artisan necklaces for family Christmas presents, some Christmas decorations, a gift for a friends upcoming wedding, and finally a few Cat's Meow Village buildings including area landmark buildings, the New River Inn and the Bonnet House, for my collection. I started accidentally collecting them when I purchased a few inexpensively in a vintage sale and now I'm hooked. I especially love the replicas of the buildings I have fallen in love with in Florida (in case you are reading this daughter hint, hint). Inside the store I was dazzled with the array of gifts. The front of the store was beautifully decorated for the holidays and there were several Christmas trees throughout the store. This store carries a huge selection of Vera Bradley, home decor, coastal decor, holiday decorations, jewelry, candles, bath products, pantry items, jams and jellies, and apparel. I loved the lighted holiday snow globes especially the pop up camper one but my all time favorite items were the Spartina Florida purses and wallets. They have a vintage Florida map on them that look like the one on the table clothes that people who visited Florida used to buy in the 50's as souvenirs. I am still hunting one of those table clothes and I adore these handbags. I had never seen these before I am in love. They are pricey so this is going on my someday wish list. If there is one downside to this store it's that there was only one register and the sale generated a lot of customers who were buying many items and the ladies were slow. They are so sweet though and the wait wouldn't have been a big deal if I didn't have to rush off to other appointments. While I waited I snacked on their complimentary doughnut holes and orange juice. I have definitely found my new favorite gift store. I have some difficult people to buy for and I can find something for anyone here, not to mention all the things I personally loved. With the gift giving holiday season upon us, this is the perfect time to discover this store.

He managed to pull all that off, without showing me any sign of frustration. He was juggling unexpected delays with his floral delivery, and hiccups with his inventory, while simultaneously doing a delicate dance of placating this difficult lady on the phone, who had a sweet drawl in her voice, while she gave him a whole lifetime's dose of sass, and put the fear of God into him. In short, it's fair to assume, I was quite unpleasant to deal with. But this patient, and determined, young man just kept me calm, and ultimately satisfied with my transaction. So...5 And anyone who knows me knows...that coming from this girl....that's a MAJOR ENDORSEMENT! I'm laughing because, if you knew me at all, you'd know that's huge. I don't hand out compliments. I hand out insults, kinda like candy at Halloween. However; compliments are deserved here, and I'm nothing if not fair. Begrudgingly, but still fair. Nick and Ideal Orchids: whatever the occasion - condolences, congratulations, or actually - maybe just to put some happy into someone's life. Put some Happy in your own life. On a side note - I'd be remiss, if I didn't mention this: I am not local to Pompano Beach, Fl, or obviously Ideal Orchids, I'm a Georgia Girl, so I was really concerned, about the status of my delivery, so to put my mind at ease, I received a picture of my arrangement, on their doorstep, from Nick himself. I've included the picture with this post. Nick also upgraded my arrangement a couple of ways without a cost increase. Where on Earth can y'all receive this kind of customer service these days? We need to keep businesses like this around. On that note: Thank you, Ideal Orchids, and a significant thank you to Nick, from the bottom of my pain in the butt, finicky heart. God Bless you honey! As Always: You're Welcome.

Totally ruined the surprise and impact. (and cost $75) You know when you want to surprise someone on a special day? That day happened to be a Sunday and I don't live in the area, so I went looking for a flower shop that would deliver on a Sunday in Fort Lauderdale. Ideal Orchids had good reviews and the perfect plant. The website was fairly easy to use, so you can order directly on there at any time of the day (versus calling). They also do same-day delivery. When I ordered it, I designated for it to be delivered on a specific Sunday (again, it was time-sensitive). I got an immediate email confirmation with the delivery date stated clearly (incl. my additional note to leave the flowers on the front steps if no one answers) and was stoked about the quick response. The day came and went and I never heard from my friend. I finally texted on Monday to ask if he'd gotten a special surprise in the mail and... nope! At this point I emailed the address listed at the bottom of the confirmation as the contact email to ask what was going on. A few hours after that (a day late), the flowers were delivered by an extremely flustered woman. Apparently she had to go back to the truck several times because she hadn't brought the flowers up to the door when she knocked, and then when she brought the flowers, she left the gift note in the car... By that time, she let him know she was having a bad day. Sigh... Ok, I get it, we all have bad days, but you're delivering flowers with a "congrats" note! Maybe don't vent to the recipient? My friend let me know he'd gotten them and how it went down and I went back to my email and saw a confirmation of delivery. Again-- a day late. It even said on the confirmation that the delivery date picked was March 1st, and the delivery was confirmed on March 2nd. No note to let me know what had happened. I emailed again to say I'm really disappointed and that, at the very least, I should be refunded the $15 delivery fee. Crickets. It sucks because the flowers were really pretty, but being able to trust that your order will be delivered when you designated is a big deal. It lost a lot of its meaning because it wasn't a surprise on the day of the accomplishment AND I ruined the surprise by asking the next day. Also, the person who delivered it really made it an unpleasant experience on top of it being late. I would never use this service again. Mistakes happen, but the lack of communication and then lack of response to two separate emails afterwards is very bad customer service. If you choose them, I'd recommend calling and triple confirming that they will deliver on the day you need. A confirmation email is not sufficient.

Yanna's honesty was also on full display when she called me a week after our initial meeting to tell me that she had found a lady in India who could get the exact fabric I wanted for the dress at an even lower price than she had originally quoted me. You don't see that every day. I had 5 dress fittings and in each one Yanna's main goal was to make sure that every detail of the dress was exactly how I wanted it to be. No pressure at all to make it to her liking, like other seamstresses do. I travel a lot and Yanna's flexibility and understanding of my limited time was key in getting the dress made with more than enough time before the wedding.
