A stunning golf course in the most beautiful setting imaginable. This course is on the coast of…read moreMoray Firth and what an amazing view it is. You may even catch site of a whale or two. This is not like a normal golf club. The atmosphere is very relaxed and they even accept jeans in the club house. The staff all give a genuine Scottish down to earth welcome. The food is great and the service is exceptional. I would thoroughly recommend visiting this golf club.

Great golf with great service…read more As you drive through the fields across from Inverness you can't quite tell you're about to play a world class golf course. Rye grass and bluffs shield the clubhouse until you turn the last corner. Staff is incredibly personable and knowledgable. The pro shop is well equipped with the best merchandise I saw in Scotland (including St. Andrews) Many brands like KJUS that you can't get in the US. We enjoyed lunch in the clubhouse overlooking the course and the Moray Firth. Leather chairs and dark wood appointments accentuate the many windows of the clubhouse. Our server Charlotte was kind and attentive. The course itself is in immaculate shape. What we couldn't control was the wind and our general mediocre play. Most holes are along the water so you always have a great view. We did encounter 40 MPH winds toward the end of round with made the long par 5 18 incredibly difficult. Do yourself a favor and visit Castle Stuart during your next trip to Scotland.

Had the most amazing Crème Brûlée (the way it is supposed to taste) and when I made it back in 2009, was disappointed to find it no longer on the menu (traveled 7k miles for that dessert!) Was told that if I gave a few days notice, they would have it made for me the next time I came. In 2015, I took them up on that offer! Called on Monday before leaving the states, and when I made it there for lunch on Friday, had a case of it waiting for me. Oh my! Master baker Charlie Cuthbert did an outstanding job, and of course the staff was accommodating and friendly (and was even able to advise us regarding ferry out of Scrabster.) We enjoyed every bite with our friends that we shared the Crème Brûlée with, and had lunch at the Fairways one more time before we had to go home. Friendly, affordable and comfortable (I was traveling with teenaged and young adult children), we absolutely recommend Fairways Golf Course restaurant if you make it to Inverness.

The restaurant serves a lot of snack foods, but also some very tasty main courses. The club as a whole has a very nice community feel to it, and you're guaranteed a warm reception. The bar continues that warm feel, and the locals and regulars all make you feel very welcome. A big screen TV is welcome on match day. The prices are fairly cheap for a golfing club, as well as the restaurant prices. The golf circuit itself is very pleasant, up in the hills overlooking the city, but is not without its challenges, as any course on a hill would be. The club features a putting green for practise while you wait, and also a spacious driving range to practise your swing.
