Had the most amazing Crème Brûlée (the way it is supposed to taste) and when I made it back in 2009, was disappointed to find it no longer on the menu (traveled 7k miles for that dessert!) Was told that if I gave a few days notice, they would have it made for me the next time I came. In 2015, I took them up on that offer! Called on Monday before leaving the states, and when I made it there for lunch on Friday, had a case of it waiting for me. Oh my! Master baker Charlie Cuthbert did an outstanding job, and of course the staff was accommodating and friendly (and was even able to advise us regarding ferry out of Scrabster.) We enjoyed every bite with our friends that we shared the Crème Brûlée with, and had lunch at the Fairways one more time before we had to go home. Friendly, affordable and comfortable (I was traveling with teenaged and young adult children), we absolutely recommend Fairways Golf Course restaurant if you make it to Inverness.

The club as a whole has a very nice community feel to it, and you're guaranteed a warm reception. The bar continues that warm feel, and the locals and regulars all make you feel very welcome. A big screen TV is welcome on match day. The prices are fairly cheap for a golfing club, as well as the restaurant prices. The golf circuit itself is very pleasant, up in the hills overlooking the city, but is not without its challenges, as any course on a hill would be. The club features a putting green for practise while you wait, and also a spacious driving range to practise your swing.

During our visit to Scotland in October, the only thing that Nick wanted to do was to do a fishing trip! Booking was very simple, and Roz was super friendly! Wes picked us up, and I was SUPER excited that his dog Brock was there for the journey. They deserve 5 stars for Brock alone! To say that we had a good time is an understatement. The trip taught me that I'm pretty awful at fly fishing, but it really improved my fishing skills. I OBVIOUSLY caught more fish than Nick and was super excited about that. Wes really made sure that we caught something. Everything from the gear, to lunch, to the scenery was perfect. Macloud has made improvements on 3 holes (I believe) making Tain gettable yet challenging. Sheep are visible (and audible!) on nearly every hole. The wind will test you on holes 16-18 but will also provide you with eagle opportunities on several holes. Tain is about an hour north of Inverness. Put it on your list!

The fun pool has a toddler area, a jacuzzi, flumes, wave machine and outdoor pool. There are loads of changing rooms including at least ten family changing rooms. It can get really busy at peak times and you often have to wait for an available changing room, but you can use the giant body dryer room thingy to keep warm and get you all dry (you can fit a family in it). The most cost effective way to use all the facilities in Inverness Leisure is to get a Hi-Life card - only £20 a month for the whole family. There is also a climbing wall in the building.

They switched out road tires for trek tires based on the trip I was taking, lights, high vis, and helmet with no extra charge, I hired high quality panniers that fit all my gear, and the bicycle was in perfect condition. The team is friendly, took time to understand my needs and genuinely seemed to thoroughly love and intimately know the details of cycling in the highlands. Even if you have a nice touring bike, the faff of bike train reservations makes renting in Inverness here a really good option. My daily hybrid commuter cycle was not going to cut it for my trip so I rented but I watched friends from London struggle on every leg of their train journey to get their touring bikes to their destinations, while I dropped this rental off and was back on my merry way. Hearing that they do a bicycle taxi service when I returned the bike opened up new route possibilities outside of the train routes as well. Can't recommend highly enough.

There is also a small petting paddock where you can get up close and personal with ducks, rabbits and even a deer if your patient. Although as you walk through the park the majority of the animals come to you anyway especially if you have a bag of food in your pocket. They have a lot of unusual animals you wouldn't expect, a play park for the kids and picnic tables and it all makes for a great day out. There is a cafe and gift shop, which is reasonably priced, the facilities are clean and the staff are always friendly and helpful. If you're in the area you need to go and see this place.
