My 8-year-old son has been seeing Dr. Anna for debilitating anxiety that had become so severe it caused extreme tiptoe walking. His walking worsened to the point where doctors told us he would need casts on both legs. Then we saw the absolutely incredible Dr. Anna. From the very first appointment, she brought such calm, warmth, and reassurance into the room. My anxious son immediately felt at ease with her. We originally sought treatment for the tightness in his calves and feet, hoping to correct his walking--but what happened next absolutely amazed me. As Dr. Anna worked with him, not only did his mobility improve, but his anxiety began to lift in ways I never expected. Through her gentle, skilled work--especially on his head--things that were once overwhelming for him, like going to school, attending sports practices, and navigating social situations, suddenly became manageable. The change was dramatic. It felt nothing short of miraculous. When we returned to his doctor to prepare for his scheduled casting, we were told it was no longer necessary. I'm not a "reviewer" but when I tell you how amazingly talented Dr Anna is, you'll understand why I had to write this. I was having debilitating plantar fasciitis pain that was worsening for about a month. I was in such pain the day before I saw her, I wanted to sob just sitting and not moving. It was shooting from my foot into my shin, behind my knee, into the back of my thigh and affecting my hip. I was compensating, which was starting to affect my "good" leg. I couldn't put pressure on my foot, walked with a limp. I tried insoles, massage, targeted pressure ball, stretching, heat therapy, cold therapy, elevation...anything I could find online. Then I went to see Dr Anna. I had ONE VISIT. She immediately could tell my pelvis was off, which was making my femur sit in my hip wrong, affecting everything down from there, which was probably why the problem happened in the first place. She manipulated my body in what seemed like such small ways, honestly makes you almost think nothing happened, but I felt better. Little did I know that the things she fixed would be so major. I woke up with almost NO pain. Like from a 10 to a 0.5. I could put full weight on my foot. I wasn't walking with a limp, there was no pain in any part of either leg. The bottom of my foot was, we'll say, still a little sore, and that's all. I could cry. It's been ten hours since I woke up, and I have thought of her magic every step I've taken all day. Dr. Anna evaluated and treated my 2-week old son for a poor latch on one breast. She identified a structural cause for this challenge, worked on releasing the cause, which immediately improved the problem. Not only did she improve our nursing experience, but she treated my son with compassion and warmth, keeping him calm and at ease throughout the experience, making this a very positive experience for both baby and myself. I highly recommend every parent who is fortunate enough to be able to should schedule an appointment with Dr. Anna to evaluate and treat their baby, known issues or not. We took our 4-week-old son to Dr. Anna to see if she could help his severe reflux. From the very start, Dr. Anna showed us a deep level of empathy and concern for our situation -- we felt very heard throughout. She did a series of super gentle manipulations, always explaining what she was doing as she went along. We had two visits and each time was a gentle, informative experience. While our son still struggles with reflux, he is vastly less tense and his body movement is greatly improved because of Dr. Anna's care. One of the things I appreciated most was that Dr. Anna is upfront about what we could expect as outcomes from treatment. I was worried that we would be continuing these visits forever, but Dr. Anna let us know after our second visit that we should move on to a GI specialist because she couldn't help further given the severity of our son's case. Dr. Anna is a caring, warm and patient practitioner. I have been bringing my daughter to see her for over a year at the recommendation of her holistic orthodontist. Dr. Anna has a wonderful way of working with kids; I love the way she treats my daughter as whole person and addresses her with interest and respect. Her approach is all encompassing and she always asks questions to address the whole body and not just the referring issue. Great experience from start to finish! I couldn't think of anyone better to care for my family. Dr Anna is professional: as well as personable, caring, and knowledgeable. She saw our daughter for what we thought was a pulled muscle. Tried chiro and acupuncture which helped minimally. Dr Anna is wonderful-she has a very calm and friendly demeanor with babies, kids and parents and is very communicative. She has really helped my son on the road to recovery from a long battle with digestive issues, including colic, reflux and sleep issues. Watching him sleep on the video monitor after his first treatment, I could tell that he was much more comfortable because he wasn't tossing and turning. Even more amazing has been her treatment of my older son, who was recently diagnosed with autism. I was reading through the giant stack of books I checked out from the local library and read about osteopathy being helpful for children on the spectrum. But I feel like the result of Dr Anna's treatment is more on the level of miraculous. Right after I took him to see her, he started drawing (before, he had refused to pick up a writing utensil of any sort) and his vocabulary and speech intelligibility improved immediately. He started chatting away to me in the car. After a second visit with her, I can see a difference in the level of empathy he has with others and he has stopped acting out for the most part (hitting and kicking). Dr Ekstrom is AMAZING. My shoulder was bugging me, now it's not. I was surprised how gentle the treatment was but it worked. It felt better when I left and within a day or two it was SOOOOO much better. What's crazy was she did work on my shoulder but also spent time on my neck and hips that she said related to my shoulder problem. At the end of the day it worked super duper. There aren't enough nice things I could say about Dr. Anna. She is very knowledgeable, kind, informative and has a very calming presence. I found Dr. Anna after researching alternative treatments to helmet therapy for plagiocephaly. I am so happy to have found such a caring Dr. for my 5 month old. She fully understands the level of desperation parents have when they come to see her for plagiocephaly treatment. She was able to put me at ease and explain all aspects of treatment. My son initially measured as very severe at 24mm. After 4 treatments, he was re-scanned at Hanger and measured at 16.5mm! She also informed me that his positional plagiocephaly was largely due to a stiffness in his neck that I was unaware of. There was one time I had severe rib pain and had been treated by three other physicians, but only started to feel better after Dr. Ekstrom treated me. she explains what she is doing throughout the entire treatment, assesses her patients' level of comfort and is great at letting patients know what to do and what to expect after treatment. She did a thorough assessment to figure out what the underlying issue was and then did gentle therapy to help fix it. She was kind and gentle and great at communicating what she was doing. We were recommended to Dr. Ekstrom through another parent of a baby with plageocephaly. We were so lucky to have found her and cannot say enough about her. If you have a baby with torticollis, plageocephaly, or both, definitely see her. She is very knowledgeable, professional, caring and is so wonderful with the babies. My son will scream the whole car ride and walking in to her office (sorry!), but is totally silent and happy when he's being treated. He had stubborn torticollis causing his plageocephaly and needed to see PT and also wore a helmet. Everyone was astonished at his quick improvement and he was able to only wear his helmet at night (not typical at all) and graduate in the minimum time of 3 months. Granted every baby is different but I truly wish we had found her sooner and wonder if he would have needed the helmet at all if we had. I really like Dr. Anna Ekstrom a lot. We found her when our normal go-to Osteopath was out of town and we needed to see someone urgently to be adjusted. I have been going to see her ever since. She has been very helpful in resolving issues I had in my back and neck. She even resolved an issue in my pelvis that had been going on for years, not treated by other Osteopath. I don't need to go often but really appreciate seeing Dr Ekstrom when I need to. We are also bringing our daughter there too. Dr. Ekstrom is a talented board-certified pediatrician and osteopathic physician. More importantly, she is a gifted healer. I had treatment with Dr. Ekstrom for back pain after a herniated disc and her treatment gave me tremendous relief from pain.
