Merry Hill is a big shopping centre located in Brierley Hill, it is home to over 200 shops such as M&S, Debenhams, Topman, River Island etc.. Over recent years it has become less of the giants in shopping centres of the UK. There are plenty of places to eat from Burger king to Pizza hut, however there are quite a few smaller cafes to eat from and a Millies cookies! Parking is not a problem in the weekday, however on Saturdays and around Christmas you have to be there when they open. Other shops in Merry Hill include Disney Shop, Game, HMV, WHSmith and much more. However, Over recent years it has gone down hill slightly purely at the groups that hang around the bus station and the general crowdidness of it at times. I would recommend a trip to Birmingham to the Bullring which has better shops and better ambiance anyway. read more

This place wishes it was in America but, for not being in America, this place is not bad. A good sized shopping centre, but not massive by any stretch. However, there are plenty of shops that in a wide variety from clothing, electronics, books, etc where you can go to explore. Everything from the brand names you would find on most high end high streets to other not so big named shops, it even has 2 pound shops and an Asda. This is a place where you can probably get whatever you want, no matter what you are looking for. I lived close enough to walk, but just from what I've observed parking looks to be a bit tricky as it seems to not quite have enough for it's capacity. read more

So is it Merry Hill or Merry Hell? Well a bit of both in all fairness. As a fan of the bullring (easy to find your way around and logically laid out) Merry Hill is a rabbit warren spread over a number of levels where sign postage can be lacking and the various car parks bring you in to various entrances of the mall, a bit of a nightmare for new shoppers without the assistance of an experienced local thankfully I usually have a helping hand with me :) On to the positives then: A wide variety of both chain and smaller branded shops dominate a three legged shopping centre providing groceries (through the likes of Asda and Sainssburys, neither of which are small), clothing (M&S through to Primark with a few brands specific to fashion choices such as 2Seasons), lingerie (Anne Summers), accessories (Claires), entertainment (hmv, waterstones, CEX), banking, travel and this is just touching the tip. Pop up stalls now made fixtures such as zumo's smoothies and mr pretzels provide welcome distractions if you need a quick refuel and I havent even mentioned the food court yet (did someone say Nando's?) And all of this is just inside... A further range of shops, petrol station, pub (wetherspoons) and cinema all lie within the complex along with a small bus terminus providing good local transport links if you dont mind a short wait in the shoppers traffic! The mall is always clean and staff (mall rather than shop) are always nearby to help with any queries. Aside from the opening note above the only real draw backs with Merry HIll are owing to long opening hours (especially round christmas), good choice of stores and slightly out the way location (no real rail link) that you wil often struggle to park, may have to queue to find a way in through the carparks (buses use the same entrances as cars) and you may find the volume of shoppers a little overwhelming at times, Dont go for a mooch at peak shopping hours but if you know what you want, yo'ull have a good a chance here as you would elsewhere! read more

This place used to have a monorail, now it is has are memories. Standard 2012 indoor shopping mall, a few independent stalls selling phone cases between the most obvious chain store line up you'll ever see in your life. Newly opened food court cant seem to find its feet with the none chain brands coming and going so quick you'll never be able to fill a loyalty card. They used to have a whole independent market but its a pound shop now, just like the pound shop 5 units down on the same row. Theres a few outdoor shops too surrounding the billion car park spaces the place has, all of which are chain stores that you'll find in every city in the UK. read more

Every year it is inevitable that I will visit Merry Hill at least ten times because me and my Mom especially love it there. It is basically a massive shopping centre which is indoors so you don't have to worry about rain and you can spend hours looking around although it never seems busy for some reason. We choose Merry Hill every year for us to do our January sales shop too because there is so much on offer. Let me tell you why I love it so much! Ok so where is it? Merry Hill Shopping Centre Brierley Hill West Midlands DY5 1QX Now to get there by car from where my parents live is easy because we can just go to Dudley and follow the signs from there. By motorway if you do get to the Walsall junctions and head towards Dudley you will find it. Merry Hill is signposted for miles away from where it is so you can't miss it. The car park is huge and you can always find a space and the best thing is that it is free to park there for as many hours as you like. By public transport you can get the metro to Dudley and then bus from there or you can get a bus link from Birmingham city centre. In all honesty though it is easier to drive to get there. Ok so you get there and park and depending on where you park depends what entrance you are near as there are several. When you are in the shopping centre you will notice that it is all on two levels and there are escalators and lifts available everywhere if you need them. Now let's have a quick tour. Shops Now Merry Hill has so many shops it is fantastic. Debenhams is massive and is on a few floors of wonderfulness. It has all you could need from them and is situated by an entrance just in case you have a lot of bags to get to the car. Then Marks and Spencers is also huge and separated into different stores. You have the womens store, mens store and home store so you can shop for what you need and want to. Then you also have BHS and Next which are the other stores for various things. Purely clothes shops include New look, Dorothy perkins, burtons, topshop, bay, west one, primark, jane Norman, monsoon, river island, oasis, principles, and wallis and I am sure I am still missing quite a few. The good thing about merry hill is that they are all reasonably sized stores and some of them are quite big so they have a very good selection available there. For entertainment value we have WHSmiths, HMV and Zavvi which are all massive stores and have a very good selection in. They are all well laid out and I have always managed to find 99.9% of what I have wanted. For general things we have places like Boots and superdrug there which once again are huge stores and you should be able to find what you need. There are plenty of staff in all of these stores so you should be ok and served quite quickly. They have a good amount of stock and clearly laid out so brilliant. There are also several jewellery stores such as Beaverbrooks and H Samuel. For shoes we have places like faith and Clarks and also a few other stores so you can find quite a few around. There are also other random shops such as Pier, Curry's and Clintons so as you can imagine Merry Hill is very big indeed. The good thing is that shops are signposted and there are maps about so you can never get lost really. Everywhere looks very clean and well kept so it is a pleasant shopping centre to walk around. Supermarkets There is a Sainsbury's and an ASDA on site and they are massive so you can even do your shopping here. Food and Drink Throughout Merry Hill you will find several places where you can go and eat if you fancy a restaurant such as Frankie and Benny's or fast food such as McDonalds or Burger King. Situated everywhere are small cafes around the centre so you can always stop off at one of these or go to a café in a store such as the one in Debenhams or Marks and Spencer's. Merry Hill is one of those places that even though you may see that the car park is full, it never seems that busy inside. There are toilets everywhere and it is well laid out and signposted and also very clean. There are a lot of litter bins for your rubbish which is good. I always come to Merry Hill and even the men in my family like it as everything is nearby and they are not walking for miles so they can be in and out and get everything they want in a short period of time. A vast shopping centre which would take a full day to fully experience. A combination of high street stores within an undercover shopping mall. Large out-of-town 'sheds' are also in the vacinity including Toys r Us, Matalan, Currys etc. Due to it's popularity, parking can be very tricky. There's also a multi screen cinema. read more

A great shopping centre with any and all shops you could need all under one (well, a few) roofs... It even has a multiscreen cinema! The centre has been enhanced with a food court sporting everything from Nandos to smaller street-food type vendors which has added a much needed corner to an otherwise useful complex for anyone from miles around. Definitely the place to go shopping if you can't be bothered to trek to the Bullring in Birmingham, as the range of shops means you can easily compare prices when shopping around, though it also makes it easier to spend your money as well! read more

Merry hill is great, i always go there as its really close to my house. Its seems far more accessible than say going into birmingham for a shopping trip. This is probably because of the acres of free parking available - although duriing busy periods it can be difficult to find a space. Hundred of shops all the usual highstreet chains are present and a couple of independant shops too. There's a few pubs and restaurant where you can have a cheap but decent meal if you get hungry after walking around all day. read more

Merry Hill Centre is the place to go if you LOVE shopping! There are hundreds of shops here, ranging from large department stores like Marks and Spencers and British Homestores to smaller designer shops. There are plenty of cafes and restaraunts around the centre to provide you with a refreshing cupa or filling meal once you have worn yourself out shopping. there is an excellent customer services desk where you hire free of charge childrens car buggies to push your children round in to keep your little monsters (sorry i mean angels) happy in and you can get a little map from there which will make it alot easier to find stores that you want to visit. I love this shopping centre, everything you need under one roof, however if you need the loo you could end up walking miles to the nearest one. Plus at busy times it is almost impossible to park so try to go during the week time when it is not so busy. There are plenty of places to eat and drink there too and love the Waterfront just outside the shopping centre at Brindley Place. read more

Great shopping centre. Massive, large ammount of shops with wide selection and great opening hours. Only on busy days it's almost impossible to park. It took me 20 minutes just to get on and off the parking lot on Jan 2. But if you found a parking spot it's a done deal. Most of it is inside but also a fair ammount of big chains ans a cinema are outside. If you want to have a pint or some pubfood afterwards just go to the waterfront around the corner. My favourite place to shop! it is spread over 2 stories, they have lifts and escalators. They have a wide variety of shops that would appeal to anyone really. They have a childrens service where you can use a car to push your child around in - makes it a bit more interesting for them! Merry Hill is a great place to come to do your shopping it has endless amounts of stores where you can shop for everything from clothes to running machines to fabulous millie's cookies. It also has a recently renovated cinema and endless department stores. The downside of it is that it hasn't got any character whatsoever being very much like an American remake but if your looking for somewhere to do your Christmas shopping (if you can put up with the crowds then this is the place. The best thing about Merry Hill compared to others places like this is that the parking is completely free although I did hear that they were thinking of changing that so we'll have to see. read more

I enjoy spending a day here lots of shops to choose from with a large children's play area and a Quest for older children. Unfortunately a few shops are closing however I do believe the empty shops will soon be filled new and upcoming shops soon. The food court had a good selection of food to eat which leaves you with no shortage of choice. As a parent of two small children I do appreciate. The double cars the offer at a very reasonable price of £7 which includes £5 refunded once the cart is returned. read more

One of the only shopping centres in the UK to offer free parking which means it is somewhat of a nightmare at Christmas. A new 4 floor multi story car park opened a few years ago and that without doubt has made a huge difference. They have all the shops you would expect for a shopping centre of this nature but it does really lack in the food department although this is getting better. The centre has quite recently been taken over by Westfield and to be honest since they have come along, you do find that you get stopped by the traders selling hand products and novelty goods which is a bit of a pain. I was in JD and was after some trainers, my brother as kind as he is went to ask a man to get them for me. I was waiting for around 5/10 minutes and saw the man walking around with different trainers but whilst doing that was talking to another member of staff and describing someone 'a chubby white kid with a funny hair cut and a black jacket' I thought nothing of it. However was debating whether they were talking about my brother. After 10 minutes, I approached the man and asked about the trainers, his response was 'oh were you with the boy' .. he was talking about my brother to another worker. I find it so disrespectful and unprofessional!! my brother is already self conscious and could do without big headed staff members talking low about him. read more

I love the Merry Hill cntre. Loads of free parking, so no rush to get back to your car and lots of choice. It has a massive Marks and Spencer and debenhams - althought they are far apart. Good choice for places to eat - although i'm generally cheap and have a boots lunch. My fav place locally for indoor, hassle free shopping. read more

Merry hill is a great place to shop, always nice to walk around with the fantastic range of shops and places to eat or drink, starbucks is a firm favourite for the hot chocolate anyway although a bit pricey, all in all a good day out shopping in what i consider one of the nicest places to shop outside of Birmingham. read more

We love this shopping centre. Definitely takes a whole day to walk around. There are a good range of retailers from the well known to new and unique shops. It is set over two floors, the malls are wide so it rarely feels cramped even during school holidays. All of the well known retail shops are a good size so you have more choice, there is also a sainsburys and an asda there. The cafes are pretty much the same as everywhere else but we like the food stall that is in the mall outside of asda, there they sell hot and cold food, they do a gorgeous cheese and potato pie and my husband loves the hot pork baguettes. Only downside is that they don't have a sit down area. But for the price and taste of the food we'll forgive them for that. Also last time we went parking was still free which is amazing, i don't know of many other shopping centres where the parking is free. The centre and toilets are always clean and tidy. a wonderful shopping experience all undr one roof. just back from xmas shopping as from 15 th december they are open till midnight. was eating mcdonalds and millie cookies a ten to twelve and wandered into debenhams at 11.55pm fantastic, then a polite message to say shop and centre were ready to close. no hassle to get off car park. fANTASTIC read more
