Until the year several coaches and many athletes left to go to a new gym that opened up. After that year it's seriously gone downhill. The coaches that stayed are extremely unprofessional and treat the gym like a daycare- not a professional, athletic environment. Since my daughter was young when the gym had many staff leave for the other gym we were not aware of the issues and why everyone left but it's become obvious. Even when the gym selects competitions to go to for the season for teams to attend they seem to only pick comps where there are zero other teams to compete against so they automatically get first. That doesn't teach these athletes anything and it honestly feels like a scam when we were told we were part of a "competitive" program. The gym just wants to collect those banners and take credit for being a "winning" program even if it is fake. I want my child to learn the value of hard work but that doesn't happen here. Last year my daughters coach from this gym liked to violently scream at the kids during practice until they were all crying- one dad even pulled his daughter from practice one day and never came back because of it. In October my daughter's dog died right in front of her before practice so we called the office to explain she would be absent. Their office lady told us if she didn't come that day she would be punished and lose her spot in routine. So we took her, heartbroken, so she wouldn't get punished because her dog died. We know the importance of committing to a team and showing up when it counts as we are trying to teach our daughter good morals so we took her even though it was painful. This wasn't even the tip of the iceberg even with all the other issues we've experienced ourselves and seen other families go through at this gym. My daughter in 5 years at this gym has never missed a competition, more than 2 practices a season, and we live over an hour away. She is dedicated and loves her sport but at this gym if you're not in with the clique the gym owner and her daughter run your kid will suffer for it. For example this year we did have a family vacation during season, we gave the gym (months) advance notice and this WAS NOT during comp season. She missed two practices but because of this she was removed from her spot and replaced in routine for the first 3 comps until her coaches realized the replacement couldn't execute pyramid so they were forced to put my kid back in her spot. We had several private meetings with the gym owner about our concerns and she basically told us it sucks to suck while laughing in our face. We still had our daughter continue her commitment to this gym even after this treatment and our family being at the gym for five years. We wanted to set a good example for our child, that you don't quit even when you're mistreated or things are going poorly because you made a commitment to your team. We even signed our daughter up for their STUNT team after one such meeting because we didn't want our daughter to lose any skill or stop developing because she was basically benched for punishment on her other team. I had concerns after tryouts for STUNT that it would not be a good fit for our daughter as it became clear most of the girls in that program had skills at a significantly lower level than what my daughter is currently at. We were promised our daughter would still be challenged and given the opportunity to work on her development. That's not what happened. Our daughter was expected to stand against a wall at every game and maybe do two SOMERSAULTS! It was a joke but we didn't pull our daughter from that team mid season because that doesn't set a good example. Now at the end of season we were charged $150 this week for their stunt regionals in May. Which is totally fine as we were planning on going and finishing out the season we committed to. Since we have had so many issues we did decide to not continue at IC for next season. Tryouts for the new gym coincidentally are scheduled the exact time as the very last stunt practice so we made sure to let the coach know this well in advance. The coach informed us that she no longer wants our daughter to end the season with the team at regionals due to this. When my husband asked the gym owner to refund the charge for the regionals since they decided our daughter can't go (not us), she laughed in his face and refused. They truly don't care about running a reputable or professional business. Just look at their Facebook reviews for another family's example of how Julie talks to parents/customers. It's gross. I just know with their mean girl tactics too they are going to twist facts about what really happened for anyone that asks. We've seen them do it to other families. So take my experience as a warning and trust me- put your child in any other cheer gym in the valley.

Clarissa was there to comfort me through my fears as well as educate me on breastfeeding, labor positions, and how to write a birth plan. She was willing to go to appointments with me if I was scared and my husband couldn't. I decided to have a natural birth in a birthing center and she was my ROCK! I had a labor of 13 hours pushed for 3 and she didn't leave my side. For some reason the sound of my husbands voice was like nails on a chalk board. I needed the voice of a woman and the comfort of a woman. She was the best coach and support. It was the hardest work I ever did and it made a huge difference to have cheerleader on my side with my best interest at heart. She even made sure I was comfortable after birth and answered any questions I had about breastfeeding and being a new mom. Would highly recommend a doula to attend your birth. Clarissa was amazing!

We signed our daughter up for the 3-5 year old 6-week trial ballet class earlier this year. Thankfully it was just a trial class. Weeks 1 and 2 went pretty well. On Week 3, the instructor didn't know how to get the sound system set up to work with music and spent more than half the time trying to figure it out, rather than moving on and teaching. While she was doing this, the girls were just sitting around or running to their parents. I went to the front desk to see if there was anyone who could help, only to find a note saying nobody was there and wouldn't be there for a few days. The rest of that class was spent playing freeze tag with the girls. The remaining weeks were spent essentially playing freeze tag with about ten minutes of trying to teach technique and a routine to the girls. I had conversations with several of the parents who wondered why we were bringing our children here to play a game we could play with our girls at home. Several of the parents were frustrated, and rightfully so. I tried calling the studio during business hours. Nobody answered, so I left a detailed voicemail. I never received a response. Since the class ended, I have received three additional charges to my credit card from Dance Unlimited, which should have never happened in the first place. Communication has been nonexistent, and the 3-5 year old trial class was more of a babysitting session where the girls played freeze tag. If you have young children who are genuinely interested in dance and looking to learn, if you're looking for a place that communicates well with parents, if you're looking for an experience that is anything other than frustrating, I'd suggest trying another studio.
