"PUT MY VAN DEAD ON THE ROAD" Never again will I use them!! I paid almost $300 for a new battery in October 8 months ago. I recently had starting issues and dead battery problems. So I went to autozone to have them test the battery which it failed for health so I took it down to this location where I purchased with receipt in hand. There I wasn't greeted friendly, spoken down to almost like I'm lying about my issue, they say there test shows that's it fine but they wouldn't test under load. I insisted I've broken down numerous times and they said it's fine battery is good. Then again took it down to Autozone same problem, all test shows bad battery but there's seems odd like they don't want to replace it!!!I broke down and had to be towed since the tech over tightened my terminal cables and they won't make contact. So I had to buy a new battery and terminals thanks to them shooing me away!! I Spent an extra $500 for new battery and terminals for them simply not replacing under there 5 YEAR WARRANTY!!! My patronage of their business goes back many years, beginning when they were located on Bluebell Drive in Santa Rosa. I have purchased more than one auto battery and a portable Jump Starter. TODAY WAS Purchase-a-New-Battery day. I arrived when they opened and initially there were no other customers. I EXPECTED TO BE GREETED WITH A FRIENDLY, APPRECIATIVE RECEPTION, but that was not the case. A young man by the name of Roman waited on me and ultimately was the one who installed the new battery. HE VERY MUCH LACKED IN PERSONALITY and HE MUMBLED in a low-volume voice when he spoke, and I had to keep asking him to repeat what he said. As we were engaged in conversation, a bitchy female employee arrived--ZERO acknowledgement of my patronage from her. The battery that would be the correct one for my vehicle was $233.15, plus $59.95 for installation (which was about 20 minutes worth of labor), plus a $2.00 "CA Battery Fee", plus $28.58 "Tax ID--SRT 211 A/P-Santa Rosa"--which came to a GRAND TOTAL of $323.68. MY EXISTING BATTERY was very corroded, and the bar that holds the battery in place and the cable connectors were covered with corrosion residue. I had to ASK Roman to clean the bar, and all he did was scrap the bulk of the corrosion off of the bar with a wire brush and DID NOT wipe it clean with a cleaning solution, and the cables were attached to the new (EXPENSIVE) battery with dirty connectors. HE WORKED AT A SLOW PACE, and the replacement took longer than it needed to. I needed a new battery for my Jaguar. The battery ends up being $260 with another 40 for installation. While waiting for my car, the tech comes and tells me that he needs a special tool to change it. I go out and look at it, It's just a large Torx screw. Apparently this shop does not have a set of Torx drivers. So I take it home and change it myself. Took about 10 minutes. I brought my old battery back it and gave them the tool so the next Jaguar owner doesn't have to go through this crap. Why would a shop not have all the basic tools needed to do their job? read more

Horrible customer service. Sold me an expensive brand new battery that failed (!) which I then had to talk them into (!) replacing when it didn't work just a few days later! Bought a new battery from this place, thinking if they just do batteries they might be good, right? No. First time I came in, a very reluctant rep behind the counter helped me. Offered a range of prices for a battery and additional for installation. Took the mid-range priced battery. Plus the pricey installation. Cost me several hundred dollars I hadn't planned on, but then my car problems would be taken care of, or so I assumed. No. After installation, returned home and parked the car, only needing it a few days later. It was dead, again! With a brand new battery that cost me $$$. Called Rich's Towing Svc (see that review) again and Rich diagnosed a dead cell in the battery, suggested I bring it right back for another. As I walked into the business, not fuming cuz as Rich said, "it happens", I was regarded with a less than enthusiastic staff of 3. As I explained the situation, not 1 of the 3 ever bothered even looking up, tho they were all talking together animatedly when I 1st came in. not 1 greeted me, not 1 offered to help. My dog got a better response from them than me, as the only female staff member came around the counter to give my dog a biscuit. Only asking me if it's ok once he already had it in his mouth! She asked his age, breed etc. but I was getting NO response at all to my battery issue! Finally I had to ask, "Is anyone listening to me? Anyone going to help?" The 1 who'd sold me the dead battery originally finally looked up, saying, "I thought she was gonna do it". Gee thx. I explained to her, as we walked out to the car on the lot, that Rich's Towing Svc came out and said it was probably a dead cell in the battery. Again. I wasn't mad, just starting to get upset at their reluctance to do anything. Ms Snotty looked down her nose saying, "no tow truck driver would be able to tell that." Then she warned me "oh alright, I'll swap you another one, but this is the only time! Don't expect to get another one again for free!" What?!? I told her if she sells me another bad battery I'll be back as many times as it takes to get a battery that's good and works! All I got from that response was a dirty look from her. This with a (supposedly) brand new ,(supposedly working) battery? After using it only to drive home after installation! This is customer service? What's with the surly attitude? Who is she, or anyone, to look down at me? For certainly no reason I gave. And then threaten me not to be able to get anything working correctly from my hundreds of dollars spent here! Here's yet another "big fish in small pond" attitude problem. Thinks she's all that cuz she works in a battery store?!? You're kidding me, right? Do not go here! Don't spend your hard earned $ here. I went in there today to prorate a battery purchased in 2017. The lady informed me that they don't prorate batteries instantly, you must leave them for 24 hours to be evaluated. I drove 50 miles round-trip to take care of this, but to no avail. I asked her to show me on the paperwork where it says I must leave it for 24 hours for them to test the battery. Of course there's nothing on the paperwork. This is a bunch of horse manure. I worked at Costco for 26 years and we always took care of our members with this type of problem. No FinePrint, just take care of the customer. The only reason I did not purchase this from Costco, is it is a battery they do not stock. But you would think this being the main interstate store in Northern California they would handle these problems more efficiently. I've always bought batteries here before, and have always put up with the shitty customer service, or lack there of...But now, even their batteries are starting to be trash! I literally had the same experience as one of the reviewers on here. I had to go in late to work because I woke up to a dead battery I had bought here less than 3 years ago. Spent all morning dealing with that, getting a ride, & taking it in, only to find out that I would have to leave my battery there overnight to get tested. Ok fine whatever...Called back the next day and they said my battery was tested twice and passed their test and should be good again. So again...I bothered someone to give me a ride there, pick up the battery, bring it home, and install it. Next morning...git up to go to work....dead battery!! Now forget missing work again, & getting dirty to remove the battery again...what do you think is going to happen when I return with this battery?? I expect the shitty attitudes of the walking zombie workers, but I'm also expecting them to come up with some BS excuse as to why this was somehow my fault...We'll see?? read more

I had a disappointing visit to this business. The employee greeted me by saying "yes." No hello, may I help you. Just "yes." I could tell he was bugged that he needed to help me. He was short with me and was frustrated when I didn't answer his questions quick enough. When I was in the lobby, he gave out a heavy sigh whenever someone walked in. I asked him why he was upset and he said that every time he looked up more people were coming in. I went to Interstate this morning to replace the batteries in my motorhome. Thought I could get there during a lull in the rain, but it started pouring just as I got there. Not to worry, they directed me to a bay in the side of the store where they could work on the rig out of the rain. As soon as I got there I was greeted with a smile and a courteous welcome. I was asked if I would like a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and how could she help me? I had looked at their website before coming in and wanted to possibly upgrade the size and capacity of two of the batteries. After a brief discussion it was obvious I wouldn't be able to upgrade because the battery storage area was too small. The technician who installed the batteries was friendly and very professional. He answered my questions and assured me that there would be no issues with my solar system. After he installed the batteries he patiently waited while I checked to make sure that all systems were operating normally. This wasn't my first visit to this Interstate store. Their batteries are great, but it is the people who work there that keep me coming back. If you need a new battery or just want information, I highly recommend this store. read more

Electrified! Interstate has an extensive inventory of batteries and chargers! I was surprised to see they have batteries for power tools, watches, vehicles - any battery you want, they have it. I had an interstate battery that was relatively new but I could not charge with my charger - so I brought it in. I thought I would have to buy a new one, but kept it overnight and recharged it for me for FREE!! They also carried it back to my truck when I came picked it up. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I bought a battery from the Interstate warehouse in Fresno and the battery recently failed. I called the Santa Rose warehouse (I'm new to the area) and they told me to come down for an evaluation. I was helped immediately as I walked through the door. The battery failed the load test and, since the battery was less than 2 years old, I was given a free replacement. Less than 10 minutes and I'm back on the road. Great customer service! Interstate distributes to auto repair shops and tire stores, so they usually have every BCI size in local stock. Unlike auto parts stores, Interstate's large inventory means that I don't have to wait for back-ordered sizes or accept a battery size that will "sort-of" fit. Interstate actually supplies Toyota-labeled batteries to Toyota/Scion/Lexus dealerships, so their batteries fit the battery box and hold-down assemblies of my Toyota truck and Lexus car without alterations. The Interstate salesperson was surprised that the battery had failed after less than 2 years. In my experience, this was just the (bad) luck of the draw. A quick comment on automotive batteries: over 95% of all replacement starting batteries sold in the US are made by three companies: Johnson Controls, Exide Technologies and East Penn Manufacturing. So regardless of the label on the battery or the sign on the store front, these three companies pretty much dictate what products are available to the buying public. The manufacturing quality of US batteries had been dropping for years and the days of a starting battery consistently lasting more than 5 years are long gone. That being said, Interstate batteries - which are currently made by Johnson Controls - rate in the upper end of reliability for lead-acid batteries. read more

We called Interstate Batteries about purchasing a battery for our 2004 Toyota Siena van. They quoted a price of $215 and $40 to install and to bring it in on Friday January 27th around 9am. We arrived on time and went inside. There was a man inside behind the counter doing something. He didn't even acknowledge us, walked in the back room, was gone for a few minutes. He came back out and didn't ask if we needed help. We said can you help us and he said, oh I thought you were being helped!! I said we need a battery and have it installed and what we were told over the phone. His attitude was very rude. He said what we we're told was was wrong. He said the battery was $250 and $60 to install it. We questioned the amount and he said he couldn't do anything about it. He had a real attitude and was really rude. I've bought interstate batteries before but I won't set foot in this business again. The sales person needs to change his attitude or find a new job. read more

My husband and I are both Seniors who each have Power Wheel Chairs! Our last experience buying batteries about 2 years ago with an Online Company from another State was a disaster. The batteries only lasted a couple of months, and we had NO success getting the company to honor their warranty! However, INTERSTATE BATTERIES, right here in our own city of Santa Rosa, only a couple of miles from us was WONDERFUL. I don't know why we didn't google them earlier? But, hindsight is 20/20 and a learning experience!! Friends & neighbors, our suggestion is "learn from us". Don't go Online, or anywhere else. WHY? We've got the best, honorable, most professional people right here on 3315 INDUSTRIAL DRIVE, SROSA, CA!! Right from the very top professional, Eric to other battery tech's, it was a delightful experience! My husband and I can't put into words how great we were treated, respectfully and professionally by one and all.
