If everyone would use the left lane for passing only, the entire world would be saved.

As a family, we came to the Spanish Fort area during Hurricane Ida evacuation in 2021. The food was extremely good and plentiful. Fast forward to 2026, we revisited here and ordered the same seafood plates and was surprised how much they've reduced the amount of food. In 2021, I remember we had 3 catfish filets, imitation crab cake, hush puppies, numerous shrimp, and oysters and everything was hot to taste. It was so much food we needed take out boxes. This time, we were only given 1 catfish filet, four boiled shrimp, 4 fried shrimp, 3 oysters, another imitation crab cake, two cold hush puppies and a plate full of cold French fries. The sides were meh, with canned turnips that were so cold that I couldn't eat them and pretty decent baked beans that were actually tasty. Everything was seasoned very well but it certainly was not worth the $30 price point per person. There was a noticeable difference between what we experienced in 2021 and now. Suffice it to say, we won't be returning here again. Oh how I wish there were a Papadeaux's in Louisiana, Mississippi or the Gulf of Alabama area.

Plenty of options for seafood and American style dishes to choose from the menu. The service was a little slow but I attribute that to the number of people in our group. We were a group of 12. There was plenty of parking, the place was clean and the staff was friendly. The prices were also reasonable.

My server, Braxton, greeted me with a warm smile and stayed attentive throughout the entire meal--he made me feel like a VIP. I ordered the petite filet, cooked medium-rare to absolute perfection. It arrived quickly, and each bite was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The sweet potato casserole surprised me--in general, I avoid sugary sides, but this was so worth it. Briquettes offers a fantastic range of sides, and I went with the grilled broccoli. The char from the grill gave it an extra pop of flavor, a perfect complement to the steak. They even brought out complementary rolls that were delightfully soft and warm. I judge restaurants by their iced tea, and theirs was spot on--refreshing, ideal for a hot Alabama summer. The veggies were cooked just right, and the added bonus of horseradish on the side took my meal to the next level. I actually finished every last bite--a rare occurrence for me! This isn't a bougie, reservation-only steakhouse like you find in big cities. It's a laid-back, hometown gem where you can pull up, park, walk in, and enjoy an outstanding meal without breaking the bank. I'm so glad it's close to home--Braxton and the team at Briquettes have earned a loyal customer. I'll definitely be back!

My go to is their ribeye, and it is usually seasoned and cooked just right. But I took my wife and daughter to the Spanish Fort location for lunch and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The ribeye, although cooked to temp tasted like the chef poured liquid smoke on it. It even smelled like smoke. I took one bite and that was it. The waiter came over several times and never asked why I wasn't eating it. When I asked for the check, he asked if I wanted a box to go and I told him no way. My wife insisted that we take it home to the dog, but she wouldn't eat it either. So disappointed in this location. What happened?!? NOT RECOMMENDED

Your mopping solution is off and that is why the floor feels like that. There is too much solution to water. You will have to strip the floor (not like stripping wax, but just stripping the chemicals and it will suck and take time to do). I learned this the hard way, I had to use vinegar water and go over the floor several times till the water was not soapy anymore from the floor. I dont know what you can use in the restaurant business. Then the floor will be good. **** The food was decent. Those onion rings are really good. My daughters liked their food which was French fries, onion rings, and chicken tenders. We then opted to get some frozen custard (ice cream to them). Both got sundaes with chocolate custard, one plain and one with M&M's. I'm glad I got mini sizes because that was plenty. I also go a mini concrete with vanilla custard with peanut butter and reeses mix in. I was pleased with it. I would say it is around 8 oz. So good size for a mini. Oh, I got the Jalapenos Cheeseburger with french fries, and it was decent. I tried the jalapeño French fry sauce and it was decent. The service was super fast! Maybe 5 minute wait for food. The servers were very professional and pleasant. The place was pretty clean, could do better, but I'm just really picky about that kinda stuff. The bathroom was clean. Overall, I would go back.

The steaks were cooked to medium rare to perfection and the best taste even though they were only 6 ounces. My complements to the chef!! My son ordered a hamburger with loaded baked potato and I got a small steak that came with two sides, I selected sweet potato casserole and French onion soup. The meal was just over 60.00 even with the ten dollars off discount. The steak was tiny and tuff as shoe leather, in fact I considered repairing my boot sole with it. The French onion soup was ( I measured, 3 ounces lol) that's not even 1/2 cup. It was ok because it was not tasty and although I basically live across the road from the restaurant it was cold and I threw it out, it lacked any characteristics of the classic dish. FYI a normal individual serving of soup is 8 to 10 ounces. The sweet potato casserole was pure sugar, I have to admit it tasted ok, but I wouldn't have intentionally ordered dessert for dindin. Now for my son's burger, the bun was hard as a brick! We threw it out and I put his meal on a brioche bun I had at home. The " loaded baked potato wasn't very well baked and certainly not loaded but I was left wondering if maybe the kitchen staff were baked and loaded. A total waste of 60 + dollars and tip we should have gone to Five guys with much better food for a fraction the price!
