So when…read morean opportunity to be in Paris for a few months presented itself I was thrilled, but I had no idea which language school to pick! Looked on here and on Trip Advisor - Langue Appart' was rated highest on both. So I signed up hoping it would be good; instead it was excellent! I wound up taking a bit less than three months of classes and was stunned at how much progress I made thanks to Mélanie's teaching. She has a tremendous gift for knowing the right level of challenge for students, and explained all of the concepts clearly. The other students in my class and I were serious about becoming fluent, so she pushed us much harder than I expected, but was also endlessly patient even when we forgot things repeatedly. It was wonderful to learn more quickly than I had imagined was possible - all the French friends I made in Paris were shocked at how good my French was for such a short period of study! :) I also loved my fellow students - our classwork kept us engaged because in addition to useful phrases and words we were given the opportunity to share (with no pressure to be deep) about ourselves, our cultures, and our perspectives using whatever grammar we were learning at the moment. Even more fun because we were all from different parts of the world! I don't usually write reviews but am happy to make an exception for Langue Appart'! PS. The other teacher, Michael, seemed like he was really good too; I met some of his students and they were very happy with their experiences as well. And Carolina, the admin, was incredibly supportive and went out of her way to be generously helpful to me multiple times. If you choose to go, j'espère que vous apprécierez aussi!

The group lessons were well structured with clear goals and a little homework to reinforce what we had learned. Bryan let the conversation flow (all in French) and then took a pause to correct us individually - pronunciation, grammar and expression. It was an intimate class and I felt really at ease - challenged but encouraged! And the other students were really great. The individual lessons with Melanie were more conversational. The first day we worked on "la vie quotidienne" - I was so shocked at the holes in my vocabulary when I tried to describe making pasta - but now I know. We discussed art, culture, politics (I was there during the election so it could not be ignored) and our last day we had a pot luck "pause dej." with students from all the classes. The school is small and the caring and really affordable. A perfect fit for me. Can't wait to return. Merci équipe Langue Appart'

I had a couple of teachers, but mainly Bruno who is a very engaging, encouraging and pleasant teacher. All the teachers were great. the reason I chose Accord over other languages was that they were very responsive from the first contact I had with them and continued to be very helpful and honest in their answers. I wasn't sure whether I would fit in to the regular level of classes as I'm a little older or to take the over 50s classes. However, I am well travelled a lot and didn't want to be babysat either. They advised me to take the regular classes and that they would be mixed...average age late 29s to early 30s, but younger and older as well. I liked all of my classmates very much. It was a good international group. The school really understood where I would fit well. I hope to return to the school sometime in the next couple of years and take more classes with them.

I had two instructors, Jacqueline and Agnes, and both were very good. Jacqueline is more dynamic, Agnes more reserved, but both are outstanding. I am retired, but there were students of all ages. I doubt there are markedly better schools and the quartier is hard to beat - I walked across the Champs de mars every day to class.

Caroline is a phenomenal teacher and wonderful person to chat with :-)…read moreI took several weeks of lessons with Caroline and did 2 hour lessons each day M-F. Each of our lessons flew by quickly. She tailored each class to what I was interested in learning and answered all of my questions about different scenarios as well as general q's of living in Paris. She was flexible with scheduling all of our times together and easy to work with through e-mail. Her willingness to travel to my apartment also made taking the classes much easier on myself. Highly recommended! If you're in Paris and need a french tutor, Caroline is the perfect choice and worth every penny.

She encouraged me to parler francais as much as I could. She also spent time walking and talking and enjoying Paris with me. We shopped at at fresh produce market, ate some wonderful eastern foods and toured a small musee in Montmarte! I stayed in a great little hotel just blocks from her apartment. I planned my stay around her location and was not disappointed in the neighborhood, her tutoring or my entire experience! I know I returned home a little more comfortable with my pronunciations. I would recommend Caroline as she structured her lessons around my needs and comfort level.

Lutece Langue - Learn French in Paris

I had an absolutely fabulous experience with Lutece Langue. I'm a raw beginner at French (though I…read moredid do some prep work with Duolingo, Memrise, and podcasts), and also a working adult. I came to Paris for 2 weeks of classes as a way of broadening myself, to improve my ability to function in France and French-speaking countries, and as a way to meet people and make friends on my solo vacation in France. Lutece Langue was perfect in every way. The website is well-organized, and allows you to sign up for precisely the classes and after-class field trips that you want. There is a written test that should be downloaded, completed, and emailed in, and a telephone oral exam that should be completed 2 weeks prior to commencing class. Some of my classmates neglected to complete those steps, but without significant adverse effects. The school itself is located on the fourth floor (or 3rd floor, by European reckoning) of a building halfway between the Chatelet train station and the Pompidou Centre. There is a small elevator that is retrofitted into the stairwell, but most of the students just climb the stairs. The school consists of about five small classrooms. There are air conditioners in several of them, but they don't generally use them, and the classes could get rather warm as we were struggling to conjugate "etre" properly. The class size was nice and small. The largest class I was in had 8 students, the smallest was 2. The average was about 3 or 4. I have heard horror stories about other schools that are giant mills with little or no individual attention, and Lutece Langue is the opposite of that: each student gets a lot of one-on-one instruction and practice. Most of the students were Americans, but we also had Canadians, Japanese, and Russian students. Ages ranged from 24 to 78, with an even distribution along that spectrum. The reasons for coming to the school were as varied as the students: some students were going to grad school in Paris and needed French for their upcoming programs of study; some had married French people and moved there, some were on vacation and just improving themselves, like me. The instructors were all superb: particular kudos to Marie, who is super-cheerful, and Caroline, who is patient, funny, and kind. Lessons typically run from 9 AM to 12:15 PM, Monday to Friday, with a 15-minute break halfway through. This allows the afternoon and evening to be free for exploring the city and relaxation. There is some homework, but it is not too onerous. Lutece Langue is a superb program, and I am already preparing my return.

I just got back from studying at Lutèce Langue for two weeks. I worked with Beatrice, Maud,…read moreAlmandine, and for a workshop, with Candy. All of them were wonderful. The director, Eriko, is extremely organized and professional and the school is very well run. They really know what they are doing. The school is beautiful. Everyone is kind and patient, but they also have expectations and standards, which are for the benefit of every student. After a week in a small group setting, they helped me to figure out was best for me, which turned out to be private classes, because I was a bit too impatient with the speed of my class. I do think their classes are wonderful -- very small size, and effectively structured, but I was extremely eager to talk, to use my french, and for that, their private teachers were a better fit. If you want to really improve your french and have some time in Paris, this is a fantastic school. Lots of students are people who live in Paris (most, in my classes), who wanted to improve their french for professional reasons. The school is on a gorgeous street in the 7th. It has no downsides whatsoever. If you go there, you'll be very glad, without any regrets at all.
