Easy to book. Always have enjoyed the performances we have attended. Like the availability of matinees

Finding the playhouse was easy and it's a few miles from downtown Meredith. Parking was really easy considering the show was sold out and the playhouse itself is picturesque and charming. The theatre only holds a couple of hundred so it's easy to get in and out. I would highly recommend coming to see a show. The actors are professionals and each show brings a different cast. The prices were very reasonable and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We will be back!

Nothing like the original tv show. Why he chose this, who knows. It didn't help that the whole first act was not funny at all. His acting made it torturous. A couple people walked out before the first act was done and a few more after the close of it. We were tempted but hung in. The second act was a somewhat funny thanks to more characters, but still...we couldn't wait for it to be over. The following is not a comment on "Oscar's" weight but on the impact of it. He is very large and reminded us all of Ralph Kramden, but larger. The 6 of us were worried for him when he had to run back and forth a little bit and was then breathing Very heavy and sweating profusely even after sitting a while. I couldn't stop looking at him as he sat in a chair, to see if he was ok. Every time he crossed the stage his weight was a distraction from the his acting and from the play. Which was sad since he Can act! In the end, not funny enough to sit through.

The New London Barn Playhouse is top notch when it comes to live theatre! They have an awesome…read moreseries of shows each summer - primarily musical theatre productions, plus at least 2 plays. The Barn players are primarily young interns - recent college graduates or current college students who are majoring in theatre or musical theatre, from schools with exceptional reputations for their programs (Dartmouth, The Hartt School, CCM, and Baldwin Wallace, to name a few). These young people not only act in the productions, but they also design and construct the sets and costumes for each production. Equity actors from NYC are also featured in productions from time to time. The New London Barn itself is the oldest, continuously operating Summer Stock theater in New Hampshire, a distinction which has gained it inclusion in the state's Register of Historic Places. Shows have been produced at the Barn since 1934, and many "Barnies" who got their start at this theatre have gone on to great acclaim in the entertainment business - Sandy Dennis, Steven Schwartz (famed composer of Godspell, Pippin, Wicked served as the Playhouse's Musical Director in the 1960s), Judy Kuhn (the original Cosette in Les Miserables on Broadway) and more! We have traveled to New London to see productions a number of times, and have never been disappointed. In previous seasons, we have seen "Godspell", "Evita", "Thoroughly Modern Millie", "My Fair Lady", "Fiddler on the Roof", and this year saw "Carousel". Every show was extremely professional in every way and we highly recommend a visit to the Barn for a show if you are in the area - you will be wowed!

The building itself is currently undergoing some renovations, so hopefully it will be brought into a loving level of care; last I was there the upper floors were closed for construction, the stage needed a new floor, and there was some cracking and peeling in the ceiling. A lot of the shows are largely volunteer run, so it's often a mixed group of community members ushering folks in and taking tickets. So the customer service level ends up being a bit mixed as well. But I've generally had good experiences and found everyone to be accommodating, even if it might sometimes take them a minute to figure things out. Nice spot to see a show, although it is all seating, so maybe not ideal if you want to do some dancing.

My mother and I brought my dad, who has mobility challenges, to see The Music Man. It was his first time going to the theater in a wheelchair, and we were relieved that the space was accessible and that everyone was kind and accommodating. We were especially lucky to meet the wonderful David Schwartz, who was ushering the show. He truly went above and beyond to make the theater a welcoming and joyful place for us -- helping my dad to his seat, bringing him water, and even assisting us back to our car when an unexpected logistical problem forced us to leave at intermission. My father is still talking about his kindness! We are very grateful for his help and good humor and to the theater for many years of art and joy.
