This paper is pure temptation, you are forced to take advantage…read more I remember when I was 5 and I'd watch my grandpa read the newspaper, right leg cross the left thigh, leg shaking to an unknown rhythm and eyes locked as if he was watching an important scene in a movie. I never thought that I'd be reading a newspaper. April 2007, now I have become a miniature grandpa, all thanks to you Burlingame Daily! Went from 18 to 80! Haha I guess it's a good thing. B-Game daily gives the first scoop on all the lastest news... actually all the newspaper's do, but yeah... My first scoop. B-game daily news is where I got the first peep at "Naughty Newsom" and "Diaper Psycho Love Crazy Lady." If it wasn't for the B-game daily I wouldn't know that there are plans of making mechanical paper; or that the Governator broke his leg; or that they found the killer of my high school classmate Ray Bass. To be continued... What makes the Burlingame Daily stand out out more than other papers is. 1.It's free! 2.A great read for those who are young and hate reading. 3.You also have the entertainment section... Wanna know who Bradgelina adopted this week? 4.Has interesting development for the Burlingame area. (So all you B-game lovers and Live-ers... You might just find your face in there.) 5.Like making home-runs is for Barry Bonds, once you start reading the B-game Daily, reading will become your home-run (yes I know, great comparison GO BARRY!). And before you know it, you'll be hip like me, going from 18 to 80.

It's been since 2009 since this paper has been around. At that time it was a handy local news…read moresource.

Essential need? Yes,…read morein my household. My father was an avid newspaper reader. My brother too. With the internet, SF Gate, and shock TV, yes this election coverage is best described as so, newspapers are a dying craft. I mean, come on, don't you remember reading the funnies (cartoons to other generations) in the Sunday paper in color? Or thumbing through the pink section of the Chronicle to see the latest concert announcements. Back to Sing Tao, my family purchased a package subscription with the Chronicle and the competing Chinese newspaper through ST for several years. Yes, we've had a few hiccups over the years with missed paper deliveries, sometimes due to selfish bus waiting passengers who decide to grab ours to read on their rides to school or work. Wet newspapers, no biggie as they can't seecontrol the weather. Well, starting Tuesday 9/1st, we only received the two Chinese periodicals. I called their customer service number which went to automatic voicemail for both English and Cantonese options. Leaving messages about this Wednesday and Thursday, I never received any callback. Thursday afternoon, I emailed them to get a late night reply in Chinese; sorry, I am not Chinese literate so I asked a friend to read and translate it. Evidently, they terminated their partnership with the Chronicle effective 8/31st and listed the Chronicle subscription information to order service directly with them. No prior notice, English or Chinese. Only after four missed papers (5 counting Saturday), I ordered a subscription online by credit card; hope it starts Sunday or I'll have to pick up a copy at the neighborhood store. Sing Tao, I hope you take my comments to heart in valuing your loyal customers and keeping us informed of service changes. I understand we are in shelter in place, but a less forgiving customer may just say 'to heck with it'.

"Bun" in Cantonese, "Ping" in Mandarin, or simply Distinctive Taste magazine, is a mostly all in…read moreChinese circulation, (more importantly FREE, they make money from advertising) and can be picked up at your SF, Peninsula, East Bay 99 Ranch markets, Sheng Kees, and various bookstores or restaurants. What's unusual about this circular, is that it seems to be the new version of "East West" (another free circular with numerous articles about fine dining) except Distinctive Taste magazine's articles are WRITTEN MOSTL BY BY A$N WOMEN, even the editor in chief is female (versus all dudes with East West....I know I know, EW sounds like some A$N male chauvinistic pig rag which it is not, considering one of the $hames to A$N Americans being put out every year is that dreadful East Meets West A$N bikini clad calendars, which I dare say many of those models are probably on Yelp too) Now before you criticize and say, what do these people know about food? I'm leafing through the April 2009 copy of the rag. They don't start reviews with "wow" and never use the words "yummy". These women are real seasoned pros and know what they are talking about. It's great slack time reading nonetheless. Here are some articles they wrote - eating fugu (blowfish) at the source in Shimonoseki (southern Japan). The author even ate a TOFU made of fugu, with the fish grounded into a paste then molded and crafted into tofu form. - ok while not original material, another author discusses the point of view of Japanese cuisine from a blogger based in Beijing. OK so what merit does this guy have? He says that miso soup in the US, is store bought paste, hot water, tiny cubes of tofu, scallions, and called a done deal. In Japan this is a more meticulous prep, with additional ingredients ranging from konbu, daikon and some may go as far as to add hamaguri (clam), oysters, fish, vegetables. The really good places will make their own miso paste and not rely on outsourced or store bought. My favorite is the paragraph about Japanese sushi vs American sushi. Japanese sushi is about elegance, attention to detail, refreshing and simple taste, and quality ingredients with original taste. Unlike American sushi where the rainbow colors are all over the place, the rolls look explosive, the sauces can be upwards of 5 to 6 colors alone. - Singaporean Chinese woman writes about SE A$N curry, too complicated for me to absorb in one sitting - a local female writer describes the Ohagi at Shuei-Do Manju Shop in San Jose. Ohagi is red bean paste on the outside, sticky rice on the inside. Recently seen at the Hokkaido Food Fair at Mitsuwa late last year. Decent free reading. Can't complain.

The legality is that we need to advertising the business name within 30 days in a general circulation newspaper distributed in San Mateo County; the advertisement must be published once a week for four successive weeks. I thought I should take action immediately by calling for pricing. I spoke to Gail who was very helpful in giving me information. This is rare for someone who answers a main phone number line which is why I'm giving 5 stars. Here is the info: * It costs $40 for 4 weeks if I'm a single filer with a single business name; if there are more filers and more business names then it is $8 extra for each. * I should receive 3 forms in the mail from San Mateo county. 1 for the newspaper for filing the fictitious business name, 1 for the bank in starting an account and I believe 1 for my records. Once I receive the form for the newspaper, I send or fax it in to the newspaper, they will take the info from the form, create and publish a fictitious business name statement.

I LOVE this paper…read more I've always preferred it to its competitor, SM Daily News, because the Daily Journal has a much better format, style, and color photos! It's just designed well. One of my favorite aspects of the paper is the "Know it All" section on the first page inside--it's awesome trivia facts and I always learn cool stuff. It reminds me of the Chronicle's "Grab Bag" except the Daily Journal has a theme with the section. I look forward to it each time I read the paper! The DJ website is good, too. I've advertised in the classifieds with this paper, and not only did they suggest a better way to format my ad (it looked so much better with their suggestion) but I did get new business, thanks to them. The paper is a frequent supporter and contributer to local events and organizations, which is wonderful. They are a paper for the Peninsula, and they support their community. Gale in the office is awesome..she has the cutest Rhode Island accent.
