Henri is very anxious with strangers. He calmed down quickly. What a surprise. She took her time to examine him. She has the best vibe. She made helpful suggestions and really gave us the time needed to cover all the possibilities. Taylor T. was excellent as well. I could not be happier with the care we received today. I'm colorblind so I cannot see if they are red but my excellent groomer always helps me out with this and she said his ears were hugely inflamed. I immediately called VCA bc he was clearly even more uncomfortable today. To be clear, they are... were, my vet. The tech on the phone, after describing my situation, said, "ummm, well we can get him in Friday afternoon " I said, "wait, what do you mean? I'm not trying to be an a22 but... I just told you my dog is in severe discomfort and it's Tuesday morning... you're telling me I cannot get in to see a doctor for 3.5 days for 10 minutes to get some ear medicine for him. His in pain... " She said, yes, that is correct, no can do. I was gobsmacked. I had to take him to the vet ER (VEG in Encinitas--- GREAT PEOPLE)! But totally freak the dog out and spend 3x what a vet would have cost to give my pup the relief he needed. Some things to keep in mind: *Being a house call vet- her practice is limited to what she can do at your house (she will do in-home euthanesia but no anesthesia, surgery, emergency care, etc). *She only works few days a week, no weekends. *Her schedule is often full, expect to wait a week or two for an appointment. It's very clear that Dr. Booman and her technician loves animals and that she takes their care and welfare VERY seriously. Her fees are incredibly reasonable. I immediately emailed the clinic with a few photos, and within 20 minutes I had both an email response and a phone call (just in case I missed the email), along with an appointment confirmed for 8am the very next morning with enough time reserved to perform an extraction if needed. The responsiveness alone was impressive. At drop-off, the surgery technician, Jorge, was incredible. He was knowledgeable, personable, and immediately put us at ease, especially since this was Ruby's first surgery requiring anesthesia. During our conversation and bringing up a certain topic, he mentioned he recently attended a dental conference which reassured us that the team is committed to continuing education and staying current with best practices. Dr. Gertz, whom Ruby has seen previously for routine care, was wonderful as always. She performed the initial exam, confirmed that the tooth appeared fractured, and explained that the team would call with a definitive diagnosis once dental X-rays had been completed. The treatment plan was straightforward - anesthesia, dental X-rays, bloodwork to ensure levels were appropriate before surgery, and a cleaning with extraction if necessary. A few hours after drop-off, we received a call confirming that the tooth was indeed fractured, although surprisingly still alive. Dr. Luna took the time to thoroughly explain the findings and our options. At no point did we feel pressured. She clearly outlined the pros and cons of proceeding versus monitoring the tooth and explained that leaving it untreated would likely lead to problems in the future. After discussing everything, we decided to move forward with the extraction since she was already under anesthesia. No more than a few minutes later, the team called again because they realized the cost of the updated treatment plan had not been reviewed. I actually hadn't noticed because I already trusted that the recommendation was medically appropriate and that the pricing would be fair (which it was). Still, I appreciated their transparency and professionalism in making sure every detail was discussed before proceeding. When we picked Ruby up around 2:00pm, Jorge spent considerable time reviewing her full-mouth dental X-rays with us and explaining exactly why the extraction was recommended. It was fascinating to learn more about canine dentistry, and we left feeling far more informed than when we arrived. He answered all of our questions patiently and thoroughly (even the ones that were already covered in the aftercare packet we had just been handed!). We also were given a full sized sample of a recommended oral rinse for regular maintenance. Ruby recovered exceptionally well from the surgery, which was a huge relief. She had previously undergone sedation prior to X-rays at another clinic years ago and did not have a great experience, so we were naturally nervous. This time, her recovery was smooth, the extraction site is healing beautifully, and she came home comfortable with appropriate pain medication. She has shown no signs of discomfort throughout the recovery process. I also want to recognize Lauren at the front desk. She was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful throughout the process. She worked with us to ensure detailed notes were included in Ruby's chart to help prevent potential insurance issues and even went a step further by following up with the doctor after we left to request additional documentation that could support a smoother claims process. That level of attention and advocacy is rare and deeply appreciated. Overall, this was an outstanding experience from start to finish. We even received a call a few days after her surgery to simply check in on her recovery. From the front office staff to the technicians and veterinarians, every person we interacted with was compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in Ruby's well-being. The communication was outstanding, the care was exceptional, and we never once felt rushed or pressured. Ruby is family to us, and the trust we place in those caring for her is not something we take lightly. My Pug just has the worst dental…read moreissues, bad breath, lots of visible tarter, etc. I worry about her health and if she's in pain, so I set out to get her evaluated. SoCal Vet quoted me 1/3 of the price of other Vets in my area- about $700 for a 20lb doggy with poor dental. The price included blood work, x-rays, anesthesia, meds, AND extractions. My pug needed quite a few teefs removed. They clipped her nails free of charge. The Gentlemen (forgive me, I forgot his name) who went over x-rays and cleaned her teeth is great at what he does! I have since taken her back for a dental check, and brought my other pug. Both were sedated and received the full dental treatment. The price has remained the same for each! Dr and Staff are sweet; they are busy, but very kind. Def recommend them.

I did research on where to take my dog for a spay for years…read more It was very stressful reading studies, forums, and different opinions on whether we should do a traditional spay, an OSS, or ultimately a laparoscopic ovariectomy (LOVE spay). After a lot of research, we decided the LOVE spay was the best option for our girl. I came across Dr. Ryan Tedder at Coastal Animal Hospital. I was nervous about the procedure, but wow, this doctor is an absolute GEM. If only everyone was like him! He took the time to fully explain the LOVE spay procedure, answered all of our questions, and eased every doubt we had. The day came, and it was a successful surgery. Dr. Tedder called afterward, walked us through exactly how everything went, and when we picked her up, he went through everything again with us and explained her recovery. This is a far drive for us, but we will absolutely make it every single time if it means receiving this level of care for our girl. Last week our dog Loui had a procedure which took a bad turn, what was suppose to be a simple tumor removal turned into a nightmare for me when i received a call from Dr. Siebert about Loui not breathing on his own. Loui's respiratory problems landed him in an oxygen cage in a new facility. Dr. Siebert drove Loui there himself, he stayed there with me a bit, he followed up and he spoke to my husband and i numerous times. I saw the sad and concern look in Dr. Sieber's face when i lost it and cried like a baby over my dog Friday and i will never forget his genuine concern and professionalims. I will never forget him carrying Loui out of his own vehicle and into the new facility himself and hugging me at the end and feeling so badly for me, caring so much for the dog and understanding that to us this was as traumatic as any family member being in the hospital. He would stress out so much. The doctor kept telling me to put him down because of it. She was very pushy about it. She said I was being a horrible person to keep him alive. Well I went to a different place that was able to save his life at a reasonable price. They found his heart was the problem, was the reason he was building up water fluid in his belly, and pooping blood. He got meds and he lived another year and a half. It was better than having him put to sleep that day. I was crying, visibly upset. He was my baby. I knew my dog, I told her he is like that. He gets so nervous he has a nervous reaction and she said no that's not normal. He must have neurological problems. I think doctors should consider the opinion of the pet parent who knows their dogs best. I am so upset at the prices the American vets charge pet parents specially during this hard struggling economy. Most have been taken over by for profit systems and can care less for the pets it's such a shame. Not sure if this one has but the prices that are astronomical from most makes me believe so.

It was amazing. My cat took the cone off when we got home. I watched her and she never licked or scratched the area, therefore I didn't put the cone back on. We live a good 1 Hour Dr. from the area, but our normal vets wouldn't see us without either a very steep surcharge to get him in same week or told us to wait a week for an appointment. So I was thankful to have a new recommendation. My Frenchie had done something to his eye, and it was rather urgent that we be seen. I loved the ease of being able to hop online and see what their availability is whether it be that day or further out, as well as being able to filter out that availability by your chosen doctor. When we arrived, the staff was super welcoming and kind. We had a room right away. The doctor was so sweet with my dog. Not only did she do a thorough exam, she was great about explaining each step, and each medication. I definitely felt like she was invested in the health of my dog and not pushing anything that I didn't need. She seemed very honest and forthcoming. She explained the healing process and what we would need to do as far as next steps. I would definitely recommend if you live in the area or even if you have to drive a bit to get there to take your animal to see Dr. Goode! My dog went from being nervous that we were at a veterinarians office to being happy as a little clam due to the care and, of course, the love and extra snacks he was given!
