Just WOW!
I've never left a bad review, this goes down as my first.
I made an appointment with Dr. Saunders and then rescheduled it a week before I was set to go in. The rescheduled appointment was for yesterday.
I have a severe headache, migraine level, and called in 30min before the appointment requesting a tele-session, which the assistant said was no problem or I'd be charged a cancellation fee. I agreed.
Dr. Saunders called me about 10min after our appointment was scheduled. He asked me what was happening and I shared that I had a severe headache but am not sure why and mentioned that we are set for a full session next week.
I told him I was unsure what I needed to do about the headache and he told me he didn't know either. He ended the call quickly and I laid back down. (At this point I figured I was being billed for a short call that did nothing for me. "Oh well", I thought. "This headache will take care of itself eventually.")
About 1.5 hours later Dr. Saunders assistant called to tell me they were cancelling my appointment for next week. When I asked her why, she told me it was because I'd had two appointments they couldn't make any money from and that they have lots of people waiting to be paying patients. Surprised, I told her I was confused and had called well in advance (a week) for the reschedule and didn't know they were losing money on my reschedule. She scolded me saying that because I had a headache and didn't know what I needed that she couldn't bill for anything with my appointment.
WHAT?!?!
(As a patient experiencing head pain, why am I supposed to figure out what I need Dr. Saunders. Isn't that your job?)
She then rushed me off the phone saying she had another person on the line waiting to give her a credit card.
I sat looking at my phone for a moment wondering, "What exactly have I done wrong here?"
The entire experience left me feeling like what Dr. Saunders and his team care about is money over the patient. I'm a bit alarmed by the experience and the tonal and verbal rudeness of the assistant.
While this is all a bit frustrating, I'm grateful to have an in on their priorities prior to allowing this man to participate in my health. Nothing about this felt healthy. In fact, it felt slimy and emotionally immature.
I hope this helps anyone whose doing due diligence in advance. Be forewarned. read more
