Dr Walega has no respect for his patients having terrible office manners. For a doctor to lash out at his patient becuase they wanted to discuss his decsion is totally unprofessional meaning you have no say about your health or anything with him. It was his way or the highway. He had actually yell at me from across the room several times as was a coach on football team.. Then be so mad that you questioned him he then walk out of the room leaving you just sitting there. Then continue his anger coming in for your next visit out ti get even. To get back at me he stopped my oxicode refills abruptly leaving me to deal with the withdrawals. Integrated Pain Solutions is a complete failure. I've been in severe pain without medication for weeks because their staff refuses to pass my urgent messages to Dr. Walega. The insurance company has been asking for HIM directly, but no matter how many times I call (2-3 times a week), nothing ever gets through. Dr. Walega is kind, but his staff is absolutely terrible. The receptionist is useless, and Zoe is the worst -- sarcastic, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. I even cancelled my upcoming surgery because I lost all trust. If they can't even deliver a simple message, how could I trust them with something as serious as surgery? They do not care if you're suffering. I do miss Dr. McDowel a lot as he was the first pain management doctor who actually worked to help relieve my pain and actually got my pain to a manageable level. When he retired I was reluctant to see the doctor replacing him Dr. Wallega however he has also been very helpful and cares about your concerns and comfort. I am having trouble with increased pain due to my 2nd failed lumbar fusion as well as a lot of other things going on with my spine. read more

Doctor was 40 minutes late. He was rude, dismissive, condescending, and unwilling to help.

Incompetence levels at this pain clinic are outrageous! I was called in for my first appointment and even though there was NO ONE in the office I waited over an hour to be seen. After asking me a few questions he suggested a pain treatment with a DRG implant. I wanted more information so planned a second appt. Upon arriving I was informed that my appointment (the one they called me to schedule) was not on their books and said "Well, you aren't on our list today. And then said, "Maybe we can fit you in later". I was obviously upset and instead of pushing someone else's time back I left. My next appt was over the phone. He could not answer any of the basic questions I had about MAUDE reports on the DRG and had to call Abbott reps. Both promised me information 2 weeks ago which I never received. When I called to inquire they sent me a webpage advertisement for DRG instead of the specific information I needed to make a decision. Now, McDowell is supposed to call me back today?! To answer the questions he originally couldn't answer?! Where is the info from the damn Abbott rep?! As far as I am concerned I felt pressured to do the DRG from the moment I entered his office. He offered no other alternatives until I asked if there was anything else that could be done. Even now I still have no other information concerning this alternative treatment because that isn't what he is monetarily pushing. I do NOT trust this doctor to have my best interests at heart and today when he calls I will Fire Him! I do not suggest going to this pain clinic. If your doctors recommend him I suggest you send them his Yelp reviews and request someone else and RUN, WALK, or ROLL away as fast as you possibly can! Personally I would rather die than have this idiot placing leads into my spine. Let alone be in charge of my pain management. Stay away from this incompetent office. My first and only appointment with Integrated Pain Solutions was quite an experience. I showed up on time to my morning appointment. I'd spent over an hour completing all the required paperwork online beforehand. I even received a confirmation I successfully submitted it. When I showed up for my appointment, the receptionist said there was no record of it, and I'd have to do it all over again. So I did. A couple hours later (I'm not even kidding), I finally get taken to a room. I must've waited another 45 minutes for the doctor. We discuss my issues and he says he wants to run some blood work. I've had thousands of blood draws, so that's no biggie. He leaves and a few minutes later, a young medical assistant comes in to draw my blood. She had nowhere in the office to draw my blood, so she didn't know what to do. I asked if they had a blood draw chair somewhere, she said no. There was no table in the room for me to put my arm on, so I suggested I prop my arm up on the exam table. It was very awkward for her, and she had a very tough time. I'd been there for around 3 1/2 hours at this point, and it was well into the afternoon and I wasn't feeling good because I needed to take my medicine and eat something. I ask her to get a print out of the lab order so I can take it to my medical provider and have them do it. She hesitantly leaves to go ask the doctor. She comes back several minutes later, and says "He won't let me do that. He says I have to draw your blood here ". (She had an expression on her face as if she'd just gotten in trouble). So once again she tries to draw my blood, and has problems. I ask her to get a warm compress to make it easier to see my veins. (I'm a pro at getting blood draws). She said they don't have anything to use as a warm compress. So I kept trying to help her figure it out, and eventually she was able to tap a vein. I could not get out of there fast enough. I was there for four hours, and was feeling sick. I scheduled a follow up appointment for a month later, but had to cancel because I was ill. The receptionist asked if I wanted to do a telehealth visit, since that's what I was having in their office anyways. I said no, I feel too sick. Then I was all "Wait. What?" Turns out the doctor was out, and they had a doctor from a different state seeing patients via laptop. What the?!? So they weren't going to tell me this until I showed up, apparently. I never rescheduled that appointment. Thank goodness, because their billing department has been a total nightmare to deal with. It took a couple months for medical bills from them to start rolling in. The first was for the copay; totally legit. The 2nd was for a test done in the office. It seemed unusually high for something so simple, but the claim hadn't been submitted to my insurance yet, so after waiting weeks for Integrated Pain Solutions to do that, I went ahead and paid it. Well, turns out they overcharged me nearly $60! Then nearly 5 months after the appointment, I received another bill! They double billed me for the same test, but this time they said I owed even more money! (Over $100). I contacted them right away about the numerous billing errors and asked them to fix them and issue me a refund for the first bill they overcharged me. Rather than help me, they sent me to collections without any warning or communication whatsoever!!! What kind of shady illegal business practice is this?!? So I had to get my insurance company to investigate it, which took weeks. And I had to write a detailed email to the collections agency, disputing the claim. It has taken so much of my time to deal with this. Not to mention the stress. Thank goodness my insurance company reviewed the claims and spoke to their financial department and set things straight. A few weeks after that, I received an email from their financial department saying I should be receiving a refund check. I have yet to receive it, so unfortunately I am probably still going to have to deal with them to get my damn refund. What a nightmare this has been. BTW it has been 8 months now... read more

This is the worst place ever. I have made 2 different appointments and was not able to be seen because of the incompetence of the staff. I was grateful at first because I had to reschedule twice because of my work schedule but to intentionally make me drive to 2 different locations to be told I had no appointments is incomprehensible. I had my first and only visit with Integrated Pain Solutions yesterday. I was suspicious from the moment I arrived. After a lengthy wait they took me back to an exam room where I was bombarded by 3 different people trying to sell me their services. I am here for back pain and they are trying to sell me life coaching, counseling, hormone replacement therapy, injections and an implant for a spine simulator. I was forced to give a urine sample and they drew blood to check my hormones. After going online and reading reviews my suspicious were confirmed. This guy is nothing but an insurance sucking scam artist with no real talent in any field. I am honestly shocked that a reputable surgeon would refer their patients here. If you have the eyes to read this, turn around and RUN the other way. This guy is a QUACK. read more

Horrible service. Horrible doctor & rude plus impatient employees. My first appointment & with out a doubt my last. Very slow & long wait. Outrageously bad & horrible experience in every aspect. I would never recommend this place to anyone ever. I was literally disgusted & angry to my absolute core when I left this place. Wait time is unacceptable and how the Dr( Gladstone McDowell) spoke to me the last time was rude and unprofessional. My appointment was at 10:30am on Wednesday 1/9/19 and I was only there for a prescription refill. My name didn't get called until 11:17am. This isn't the first time I've had to wait this long to be seen, it actually has been an on going issue. I brought this up to the lady(assistant)who directed me to the back. She said I would be able to speak w Dr McDowell when he came in. She must have briefed him on the situation beforehand, because when he came in the room he had a confrontational attitude. I re explained the situation to him, during the course of our conversation he then told me : 1) to contact the governor about my complaints ... which didn't make sense since the governor isn't in charge of time management w his office. 2) asked if I was back to work yet ... then said if I wasn't working it shouldn't matter how long I sat in his office since I didn't have anything else to do 3) encouraged me to find a new pain management Dr. Needless to say I left the appointment outraged ... who treats their patient(s) like that ? I have never before taken the time to write a negative review online, but my experience with Dr. McDowell leaves me little choice. From changing diagnoses to broken scheduling promises, there was little to inspire confidence. The staff member who told me that the Doctor's scheduling promise would not be honored also told me that he makes lots of promises that aren't met. Absolutely terrible experience. As a new patient I arrived 30 minutes early as instructed. I then waited an additional 45 minutes past my appointment time to be taken back. When I asked the receptionist (at around 30 minutes past my appointment time) what the delay might be, while already in tears from my building pain, she took my last name, fussed with the computer and the just walked away. No response. This is a pain Specialist who allows their patients to wait in excess of an hour to even be taken back to wait even longer. After talking with patients in the waiting room, I learned that this is typically the case. Wow. I left, and will not ever return. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. McDowell and all the staff here. I have been a patient for over 14 years and will not consider letting anyone else deal with my pain. He goes above and beyond the call of duty as a doctor. I am truly thankful for all he has done for me and am really blessed to have him help me with my pain. read more

I'm astonished to find real back pain suffers whos main gripe is the wait time. I've been seeing Dr. Gladstone McDowell for almost 3 years now. Yes, sometimes the wait can run an extra 15 minutes or so, and only sometimes. But patients suffering real and intense pain isn't something that can be doled out and dispensed like cookie cutters. Dr. McDowell is very thorough about finding the source of your pain and exacting a plan to eradicate it. So yes his appts may sometimes run a little longer. I was on a walker for 5 years before the VA let me get outside help. The VA recommended him. I walk upright now. I plant flowers, I take walks, I enjoy life again. The procedure he does on me is needed every 12 to 15 months and takes 45 minutes to perform. I trust him emphatically. And so does the veterans administration. Anyone with real back pain and wanting real solutions wont give 2 hoots about a couple extra minutes wait. read more
